  1. Actually... there's a couple in the Orc region and one more in the human region. I'll do what I can to hit 'em tonight..
  2. Ack..!?! No Northend Campaign/Christmas Island quests for consoles? That bites big wind. It's almost a guaranteed place to level up very quickly at least a couple of times on the PC. The critters running around on the island are almost ALWAYS in the red zone - 2 - 4 levels higher than your current level - regardless of where you're at. It's a tough grind, but usually well worth the effort unless you're playing hard core and then it becomes downright dangerous... The baddies level up whenever you do. But... I digress... Haenier/Walther is a nasty piece of work. He looks like a reskinned troll from the Orc region (he's got more fur..). He comes at you with Expulse and throws fire pots under your feet and insists on you getting a wiff of his bad breath as he wails on you with wildly swinging arms. I understand there's a character in the Crystal Plains called the Guardian that is the spitting image of Haenier/Walther. He too is quite fond of the same sort of tactics. Incendiary shower is yet another good CA to use against bosses and even mobs if they're closely clustered. It can be quite useful if you've got enough runes/points in the skill to knock out Mage types (Orc, Ogre, etc..) who like to drop IS on your head. And would work well enough to nail trolls as well.
  3. OK.. I'll throw in my 2 cents... The build looks good. I would, however, consider throwing a few runes into Cobalt Strike. Mod it so you get the chain lightning effect, chain lightning effect, and explode. As you said, having more than one boss killing CA is a good thing. CS with those mods can get you out of somewhat tricky situations since it can reflect around corners. With the explode mod, if you've got a small fairly tightly clustered mob, you can damage or even take out more than one baddie each time it bounces. Very nice. And for 2 more cents, I'd throw in some more advice - invest some runes into Expulse Magic. VERY handy tool. Especially handy in certain situations - like the Yeti chief dude on Northend Island (Haenir aka Walther from the Christmas Island quest). He's quite fond of casting EM and when he does, your other CAs do NOT work too well. Oh.. Here's a bonus 2 cents worth of advice... I'd look into building a few combos. I'm not entirely 100% positive how they work on consoles, but on the PC, it's fairly straightforward unlike the way combos were done in Sacred 1. Drag an empty combo onto the Combo Editor slot and then drag the CAs you want onto the available slots. Then all you need to do is bind the combo icon in place of one of your regular combat arts. I'd set up 2 combos for battling the likes of Haenir and the like. First combo item would be Expulse Magic followed by either Blazing Tempest, Glacial Thorns or Cobalt Strike. The 2nd would consist of Expulse Magic and any one of the three you haven't used yet. The theory here is that you'd be using EM first on Hanier or any other spot where a boss can debuff you - before he uses it against you and throwing out a CA that will do damage to him at the same time. Per the wiki, he's fairly weak against Magic and Poison - so I'd use Cobalt Strike in one of the two combos for sure.
  4. Oh man.. I used to read Perry Rhodan as translated by Wendy Ackerman a couple of decades ago. Is that even still in print? I really liked that series - the mutant mouse-beavers were always a riot. Sadly, they only translated about the first 150 odd chapters.
  5. One more area joining the list of hangouts of the dead, undead and what not. The Last Watch cemetary in Artamark. There's a few graves to pilliage and a number of memorial stones there as well. I'll be adding the quoteable quotes and such in the next few hours but the page is now linked to the grave inscriptions page. It's done and so is the Graves of the Ancestors site next to Artamark's Gate. Plus the Ghost Village chain quest and the Revenge! quest found at the Artamark's Gate cemetary. OK.. I'm done for the time being... Nap time!
  6. Hmm.. An Athloon X2 5800+ should be more than enough to make things run very smoothly - even at it's stock clock speeds. I've only got an Athlon X2 4200+ and I don't see slide shows any more. It IS a virtual memory issue - when you start out with only 1 GB of RAM, and the OS is taking up like 30% of that, it's gonna start hammering memory like crazy and it'll run real slow when you get to a place like downtown Sloeford or whenever larger mobs show up. It's gotta cache all the people, the sounds, the people blathering endlessly about how great it is to see the other person, the street performer, etc.. et al, ad nauseum. I'd try the cheap solution - adding 2 x 512 GB sticks of RAM - if you can. Keep in mind that putting 4 GB of RAM into your system isn't going to guarantee that you'll HAVE 4 GB available if you use a 32 bit version of Windows. Since all of your peripherals like your video card need to exist within the 4 GB boundary, the amount of RAM your video card has on board will be subtracted from your memory total. Also, it's probably best to keep the number of programs and other things running to a bare minimum. If your computer is a name brand, get rid of any apps that get preloaded that don't need to be running. Stuff like QuickTime needs to be removed from being preloaded or killed after it loads. The more free RAM you've got, the more will be available to Sacred 2 - which IS a memory hog.. I've checked it's footprint - it likes to use a minimum of 1 GB of RAM for the game client - not including the server. NT 4? Seriously.. That's pretty darn old. Eh.. I suppose there's some people out there still using it. And yes, it doesn't have the ability to see partitions larger than 137 GB - or maybe even smaller than that depending on the version. But for all intents and purposes most people are using XP, Vista or 7. And as long as your XP is SP1 or greater, there shouldn't be any problems with it. And I think most XP users are on SP 2 or 3 by now.
  7. TY... It took me a few minutes to find the pics in question. Gotta love Google and it's picture search. I kinda had an idea for what all I wanted - and when I saw that particular treasure chest - I knew I had to grab it. So I did. The Trival Pursuit dohickey, that one came right off a pic of the box.. Mona Lisa - well.. That one had a boatload of options. Just picked one, cropped it a bit to make it fit. I was kinda thinking of cropping it a bit more so just the eyes showed but I figured that'd be a bit too artsy fartsy and I left it as is. Doing the coding for the pics wasn't too hard.. just had to follow the way it was done beforehand. There were plenty of examples on how it worked so it wasn't like I had to code from scratch. Thanks for fudging the two that were hanging down a bit. Looks better now. I can see what you mean by the page getting to be a royal pain. It's not so much the length, it's the bloody wiki editor. It insists on forcing the text down so you're writing on the bottom line of the box. Total PITA. The solution I used was to copy/paste the bits into Notepad and edit it there and then copy/paste back when I was done. Then a quick preview and a Save when it was like I wanted it. Too bad we can't use the editor for whatever software the site uses. THIS editor is lightyears better. Ah well.
  8. Probably... I played Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity - both seem to use a similar game engine to Sacred 1 - which was, IMO, OK for when they came out. At first, I thought Sacred 1 and DD/BD were from the same company just looking at the graphics. It wasn't too much of a stretch - given the nature of the "divine" and "Sacred". It was probably a good thing the two aren't related. Sacred 1 was infinitely better than DD/BD in pretty much every single respect. DD/BD were far too serious. Sacred 1 (and 2) have elements that lighten the mood - inside jokes and the like. DD and BD are just too serious all the time. The only thing BD has over most games was it's unique premise - you've got this evil bad dude who is soul linked to the hero. That and you can swap between the two characters and use two different types of attacks to get through the game. Definitely a new spin on cooperative play. But Sacred 2 definitely raised the bar as far as graphics, game play and such. I would hope that the new DD 2 would likewise get more into the 21st century with their gameplay and graphics. Even if they are kinda ripping off the Dragon Mage concept...
  9. I saw a thing on that cheese on BBC America a while back. It was on Gordon Ramsey's F Word show. One of his field reporters went to Sardinia and got to sample some. UTTERLY revolting stuff! I'm sorry... But cheese - at least in my mind - should NOT have squiriming maggots in it. Unless it's hot and melting, cheese should NOT be moving. I don't care if it's the best tasting stuff in the world - I ain't going near it.
  10. For what it's worth... NTFS is NTFS is NTFS is NTFS. NTFS, of course, being the NT File System. As long as you're not dual or triple booting using Linux or some other OS, you should be fine. There is one major gotcha when it comes to defragging using XP. That would be using the RTM version and trying to defrag a large hard drive that's beyond 137 GB. They added support for larger partitions in SP1 if I recall correctly. So an RTM version of XP will not only NOT defrag a larger than 137 GB drive, it won't even be able to read it - so there's really no danger. Then again, no one in his right (or left) mind would be using XP RTM. There have been minor tweaks to NTFS, but for the most part, the partitions themselves are identical. How much RAM do you have installed? I had the same general problem - Sloeford was like a slide show. I had 1 GB of RAM installed so I bumped it up to 3 GB (2 x 512 MB DDR 400 RAM sticks in one channel and 2 x 1 GB DDR 400 RAM sticks in the other channel) and amazingly, no more slide show. I also upgraded this old box to a dual core chip (the original was a single core) later on. It helped a bit, but not nearly as much as adding that extra RAM.
  11. For tonite's SacredWiki exercise, I found a couple of pics to update the Easter Egg page and added them to the page. I also followed the existing code and straightened up a bit. The two pics I found for the Trivial Pursuit page for misc factoids and such and the one for the pirate treasure are a bit longer than others, but, it doesn't seem to have any effect on spacing if you were to stick another line of links under it - though they do look a little out of place. If anyone feels like mucking about with it - feel free. I also cleaned up the Lengendary Pirate Treasure quest a bit. OK.. OK.. I kinda rewrote most of it. The old version was seriously lacking in details and the like. It's linked to the main Easter Egg page so getting to it is easy enough.
  12. Welcome to Dark Matters...! You've got spam... Enjoy..!
  13. Yeah.. The way the page was laid out - with everything in Headline mode was like someone typing in all CAPS... The whole page was just screaming at me. At least, this way it looks a bit easier on the eyes.
  14. Of course I did.. I'm borderline diabetic. I gotta have 3 meals with my meds. Well.. If you're gonna do something, might as well do a good job and make it something worth having. Doing half-arsed just doesn't cut it for me. I had to do some editing today to fix up my mix up on the By the Order of the Crown chain quest. That's what you get for doing things half asleep. Ah well. It's fixed and should be on the money now. Yah.. it is a pain in the neck. Many of the posts that Chattius linked on the German forum were lacking directions as to where they were. Had to do a bit of detective work on some of them based on the radar in the upper right corner. As long as I was in the general area, might as well check it out. One good trick I figured out - I can take my Level 52 High Elf for a run in multiplayer. Since she's already been through the whole game, all of the portals are open and I can pretty much go anywhere - and the quests and graves and such are back in their virginal state. So if I miss something, I can easily go back and double check it. It's quite useful.. Just create a LAN game, load up your character and wind up on Start Island. Hop the portal there anywhere you've already been and raid the tombs or do the quests you need or want to check out.
  15. Ok.. How about calling the misc page something like "Trivial Pursuit"? A place where misc knicknack facts that would be a waste of an entire page can reside with other stuff. I'm thinking the Fine Art page I put up already has double the items on other pages. We've seen the two in Thylysium, but not the two in Artamark. As far as page loading is concerned. IS that really THAT big an issue these days? Wouldn't most people be using broadband of some sort these days? Most phones even have 3G speeds. How many, if any, people that frequent the wiki use Dial-Up? If all else fails - can't we make a 2nd page for even more easter eggs? Or a 3rd if need be? ------ Update: I found a pic for the Fine Art and I set up a Trivial Pursuit section - complete with it's pic. http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Easter_Eggs Not quite sure what Gogo's got in mind for organizing the links - but I think I figured out how to do the frames. Sweet little tool!
  16. Very cool.. I'd really hate to have to rebuild the Seraphim build I've got now. If I did.. I could easily have lost not only an almost complete Niokaste's set (missing 2 items - shoulders and arms), a nearly complete Endijian's Artifacts plus all the assorted set items I've had dropped my way. Given how difficult it would seem to be to find these set items in the span of one game (the ONLY set I've managed to complete is the Keyser's Luck 2 ring set - and that was quite the chore!), I'd really really hate starting over. I normally don't trust the auto saves all that much. I generally hit F9, then wait 10 seconds or so before I hit the Esc key myself. I think, however, that part of the problem lies in the region. I can generally make it through the elf region without too much hassle and once I get into the Orc region and beyond, I seldom have issues. But in Artamark - all bets are off.. I have to be very, VERY careful. Of course, Artamark is the largest area. I even posted another thread - with similar issues - on here.
  17. Ok.. A quick update so nobody will accuse me of slacking off... Copper Peaks Cemetary - Done Valeview Cemetary - Done Fortress Reikenstein and cemetary - Done By the Order of the Crown chain quest - mostly done. Need to add some maps, log books, etc... All this while my poor Seraphim's game file got hosed. At least I managed to wrestle a back up from the grave. Thank the gods (or at least someone at Microsoft) for system restore and Restore Previous Versions! It saved me from having to lose a level 62 Seraphim from certain doom. As it was, I only lost a few hours of experience, a dozen or so completed quests and a bunch of gold and other goodies in my pack - one of which was a sweet lifeleech enabled axe. Ah well. I may still be able to save the axe.
  18. Um.. Maybe I didn't quite explain things quite clearly... I still have the US version installed. I am seriously considering buying the downloadable Gold version. For the moment, I'm still playing in single player mode. I think it'd be quite rude to have to hold up a party because I'm doing some sightseeing, picture taking and wiki editing... The Pause button doesn't seem to work in Multiplayer mode. Oh.. And for what it's worth, I was able to recover from this bleeping PITA problem by using Previous Versions. I was able to recover a file from the day before's restore point. Unfortunately, I lost a boatload of experience points, one rather nice axe with lifeleech and a few dozen completed quests. I also tried all of the tricks you mentioned, with the addition of the Sacred 2 Temp File Cleaner someone in another post recommended. No joy restarting, deleting, etc... Ah well. I think I know where I screwed up. I didn't hit F9 to manually save the game. I merely clicked Save and Exit right after teleporting back to a resurrection monollith (which should have saved the game properly). It didn't. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it out of Artamark which should settle things down a bit. My previous High Elf game was fine after I got out of Artamark. Go figure.
  19. I think for right now, just having the inscriptions, and the cemetary they belong to will do for a start. But if you happen to have more info on any of them, by all means - feel free to post the info. Carolyn Hacker seems to have multiple grave sites. In addition to the one you posted, there's one in Twainbrook that makes use of her user name "DaGirl" and one in the Shadowy Catacombs cemetary as well. There's another one somewhere that reads: "Carolyn let us rest all rest easy knowing the post-death process was well tested." I'd guess she was quite popular with the guys writing the grave inscriptions. Dag nab it... I just had to go look up that stone's inscription. Oh well the Kobold camp cemetary's page is up on the wiki... Edit 2: In for a penny, in for a pound. Fortress Reikenstein, it's lone grave and the graveyard just outside and to the west are now on a brand new Wiki page. Now working on the By the order of the Crown chain quest. Should be done sometime tonight/this morning... The writing part is pretty much done - except for posting the pics of the log and maps. That's a task that will wait till later. The tale is told. There IS one slight problem, however. One of the subquests of By the Order of the Crown is called Investigations. That also happens to be the name of a quest for the Dragon Mage - it's a class quest. Therefore, I named a blank page "Investigations(2)" and put the information there. The links all point to the correct page - just looks a bit ugly. Anyone got any ideas on how to sort it out?
  20. My frustrations are mounting... I seem to have a problem with my level 62 Seraphim... The game just boots me out to Windows when I try to load it. Now, I had NO problem what so ever loading the game, playing it for several hours last night. I seem to have gone through this with at least 7 characters so far. Bloody annoying. Now, I've heard that there was a patch for Ice and Blood that was supposed to make it more friendly to Windows 7. So what I want to know - is an upgrade to Ice and Blood going to mean scrapping all of my save games? For that matter, would the EU version of Fallen Angel even load save games created by the US version?
  21. OK... OK... Your sudden burst of work inspired me to get something done. Therefore, I filled in the Copper Peak Cemetary... Copper Peaks Cemetary There is one thing I need confirmation on though. Lexchicky - I read somewhere - was a moderator on SIF... Is this correct or did I miss something? I also changed the grave inscriptions page slightly. Having everything as a headline started looking WAY too busy. So I broke stuff down into regions and reduced the links to normal size.
  22. Good idea. Noticed there was a Thylysium Cemetary page already there when I created a link on the Grave Inscriptions Page. But this likely is a better idea. I moved Twainbrook up a notch between the Catacombs and Thylysium - as that would be the next cemetary someone would likely come across in their travels. I also added one for the small cemetary in the Copper Peaks area on the west end of Tyr Lysia... There's like 5 graves there and a casket there and it's the place where you find the woman's missing husband. I called it "Copper Peaks Cemetary" for lack of a better name. Don't see a need for one in the Dragonsea area. Seraphim are generally immortal. The humans and elves in the underground dragon caves don't really need one either. Don't think there's much left after a dragon has you over for lunch except maybe a pile of dragon poo... Doubt anyone in that region makes it to old age. So I'm not so sure how much longer the Grave Inscriptions page will get. Besides the Nor Plat, Swamp, Jungle and Dryad Island regions, not thinking there are that many to add. No idea bout the Expansion regions (Crystal Planes and Blood Forest) but there may be a few there.
  23. Ack! Hate when that happens. But this IS probably the best place to put it - hackers NOT withstanding.
  24. I've added yet another page to the Easter Egg page... This one is based on a couple of the links Chattius found on the German Sacred Forum. This one deals with 'fine art' and is named as such. I found the two he listed plus added one more of my own discoveries. I was just going thru the remnants of the brigand camp southwest of Griffinborough when I found a pic in one of the tents that looked like a house from Sacred 1's slummier neighborhoods - the poor man's quarter in Crow's Rock Castle. I've also included a map to where these treasures lie in case anyone wants to go sightseeing.. I'll be adding to it as I find more stuff.. Feel free to add other stuff if you come across it.
