  1. The game will be introducing some new Imperial forces, such as the Emperor's Shadow Guard... From what I've seen of the game, it looks like it'll be rather fun... but at the same time it seems to be shattering the concepts of the setting pretty nicely and messing hardcore with the continuity A the conflicts.
  2. When I watched the trailer for Fallout 3 when it was released, I got chills at "War. War never changes." I mean really, is there another phrase that is so immediately attributed to a game and so meaningful at the same time:) No, I didn't think so I hope they release it for Mac too. I recently acquired Fallout and Fallout II in Mac format and have been pretty happy. Any issues with the Mac and gaming have been resolved when I discovered that there were versions of Fallout for it
  3. Foxmarks and gspace are the only extensions I have installed now that I don't do ogame.
  4. Howlin' Wolf - Break of Day Nothin like good ol' dirty blues.
  5. I'm thinking about giving Imperia a shot... what realm do you folks suggest for me to try?
  6. Ok, at 2mpx, yeah, it's gonna be grainy Kodak makes ok glass, certainly better than "electronics" cameras, but not quite as good as "photographics" cameras (companies that is). Digital cameras are pretty cheap these days, and you can get a pretty good one for under $200. Avoid things like HP and Sony, go for companies that started in film photography; they make cameras as opposed to electronics, if you get my meaning. The average camera these days will be a 3x optical zoom capable system at 6 or 7 Mpx (way more than most people need), and a 1Gb memory card is like... $25 now (they used to be a couple hundred). Nikon, Canon and Olympus all make good small cameras, but you might be surprised by the quality of Panasonic (they used to make Nikon's small cameras) and Samsung, though Panasonic has rather better lenses than Samsung (they use Leica lenses in many models). Nikon also has an advantage in that they offer a 2yr warranty, while everyone else offers 1yr warranties. Here's the original image (scaled down) that I made the desktop from. As you can see I did have to make a couple edits in Photoshop
  7. Nice lookin' kit... bit bigger than I prefer, but still quite nice. Gretsch has made some damn fine instruments through the years. I'd like to hear it in action What do you think of Paiste cymbals?
  8. Thanks The camera is a Nikon d80, and I think by the time I got to that shot, I was using the 50mm Nikkor AF/S lens (otherwise it was the 18-135mm kit lens)... actually, according to the file information, it was the 50mm, F4.5, 1/25 exposure, and I think at 1/16 flash power (using the built-in flash, we don't have a good flash yet). The d80 is a 10.2Mpx DSLR packed with lots of nice features... it's been out for about 2 years now, but is still quite nice. As for your graininess issue, that could be anything from insufficient light, to improper ISO setting (high ISOs, while fast, are grainy) to, possibly, your camera simply has a really low resolution sensor or isn't a brand with very good glass. Our other camera is a couple years old, and is a 4mpx... it will take some rather nice and clear shots, but it's also got good lenses (it's an Olympus and Olympus makes decent glass). What are you shooting with?
  9. The Saturday after Christmas, I went in to the local music shop to check on whether they could get strings in for a Jaguar Baritone/Bass VI, and ended up trying out one of the guitars they had on sale for their Boxing Week sale... and fell in love. With an hour and a half until the store closed and the sale ended, I picked up a Fender Aerodyene Tele for $499, using the money I was saving up to get the Jaguar Baritone. It's beautiful and I love it The p90 installed in the bridge sounds like heaven. Incidentally, it nicely matches the Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass I picked up two years ago (on the right)
  10. Took a few pics of my new guitar with our new camera, and converted one to my new desktop (with a little help making the vignette from Kel)... Yeah, I've been stuck on an instrument theme the past couple desktops (I didn't post my last one here, it was a macro of a Jazz Bass headstock) and the 2nd monitor:
  11. Kel and I picked up one of these about 2 weeks ago, along with a 50mm lens
  12. That's how our winter weather's been in the past 5-10 years; unusually warm with no snow until mid-January and February then it hits with some really cold weather for two weeks to a month, holds on for a while and winter's over. This year we're getting a more classic winter it seems. We got snow in mid-November and it's been hanging around since. It's been a while since it's been like this.
  13. Happy Birthday, Dawn Congratulations, Rik. Now we just have to keep you there. A miner as the top ranked player in an established universe. That's just awesome.
  14. Right. Or if conditions are how they've been here the past week, between -12 and -4, and the snow is in that consistency just in between a "dry" snow and a heavy "wet" snow it does much the same thing; forming layered sheets on the road that readily slip over one another.
  15. Um, black ice will form around 0C... and snow is slippery whether you have great snow tires or not I don't know what magical winter land your roads are built on, but, here in Atlantic Canada our bad conditions begin much earlier in the weather scale than yours Maybe it's related to relative humidity:)
  16. Another lightsaber/Jedi shot. Kel and I got a Nikon d80 the other week, and decided to go out in the snow for some night time saber shots... I was hoping to get some more detail on, well, the person (me)... but this is as bright as things got, even with 15 second exposure. It's hard to hold still enough for a good sharp image for 15 seconds outside in the winter, especially when the wind blows. We'll have to go out some time when there's a little more ambient light... but not too much, or else the saber glow won't turn out
  17. http://board.ogame.org/thread.php?threadid=356579 Thanks Ike. It's a beautiful image
  18. Success! Sat Dec 15 21:05:46 Is my server time return. Chances are a hit will be organized for it. I'll be at work when it gets back and it'll sit on my moon for about an hour until I get home. Chances are it won't be waiting for me tongue.gif 3:329:12 moon
  19. I may come back to ogame in a few months, but probably not. I'm pretty busy these days anyway, so I'll enjoy not thinking about fleetsaves More to the point, I received intel that PaF has his fleet on FS until 1300server tomorrow. I have my moon destruct underway now, it'll land: Sat Dec 15 11:33:49. I have 200Rc landing 4 sec after the hit to collect my DF from his defenses.... but he may ninja the return (if there is one, there's a 47% chance of my fleet going boom in the attempt). I also didn't send a bunch of my fleet, so the DF will be smaller if he ninjas. I suppose I should figure out how big it might be... EDIT: about 2500RC will cover the fleet I sent at him. I have about 250 of my own I could contribute, and I don't know how many Dawn can contribute since they're getting about as much notice as you guys are And again, I don't want any of the DF returned to me.
  20. Moonshots shouldn't be a problem, but it'll take a couple days to build the LF for each. Firefly has ordered one, and you can be next in the queue. I've been considering leaving the game for about a year; I just haven't been terribly vocal about it. The account it pretty good, and I think I've done fairly well, but, the game isn't that big a deal to me... since about a week after I built my first RIP. The announcement has been kinda sudden, but the decision making process has been anything but
  21. I've agreed to stay in the game until the 17th, in celebration of Dawn's 1st year. As a result, I'm doing the moon destruct attempt then too.
  22. Ahh the not going anywhere is good to hear or we might have to come get you Then maybe I should Anyone who wants to help collect the res, come on to Holonet and join #Dawn. We can work out details with everyone.
