  1. I offset the increase in regen when mounted by having items & armor with decrese regen xx%. The horse mounts are the most limiting but still worth it just to ride quickly through the Atamark region to the port to sail to the island with special mounts. I usually get a horse and leave it by the resurrection stones. Then, when I get to Dragonmaw Pass (I do all the quests in the Elves region first), I get on and ride like the devil was after me to the port to sail to mount island. Of course, the B&I expansion has a different location and quest requirements for the Dragon Mage mount but you can still call your horse and ride from the entry point to the quest location.
  2. I don't know if any one else mentioned this as I have not read every response but one of the security questions im most banking and other "secure" logon applications is "where did you go to high school?" Put that info with some other stuff gleaned from social sites and a person may end up with enough info to steal an identity or an account on some sites. Yes, it is good to be proud of your school but in this internet age there is already too much info on each of us floating out there. So, use caution when posting about your school or yourself. Just a "Dutch Uncle" moment here.
  3. I will have to add one more caveat to this tale of woe: don't erase your backup copies until you are sure everything is working correctly! I did a back of all my data and saved game files in the move to a new machine. After I loaded everything on to the new system I ran into an errant program that caused me to delete and reformat my data drive. I tried to use system restore to restore the files on data drive. Unfortunately the restore point was before I moved my backup files to the new system and I had already erased the backup copies.
  4. Have you tried reloading the game? It's hard to tell if your saved game file is corrupted or if the tips file got corrupted or both from the screen shot. Reloading the game will not lose your saved games but may clean up the other files and connections. I would turn off the tips loading in the option settings and see if that helps also. Personally, I get more info off the forums than from tip screens.
  5. Actually, there were three movies in the Dusk 'tll Dawn series. The first had George Clooney in it but the setting was the cantina on the edge of the cliff in the series. Every so often all three show up on one of the premium cable services (HBO, Showtime, Encore). The first was made not too long after Clooney left ER. And yes, I'm over 40 but I'm not saying how far over.
  6. The camera automatically backs up in boss fights to accomodate the size of the boss but you can wheel in (wheel mouse) the camera much closer if you want to. I have even paused the fight and changed the angle (accidentally when the cat stepped on the keyboard).
  7. Have you considered running a hybrid character like the Temple Guardian? He acts like a ranged character when equipped with his shooting CAs but also as a melee character with swords, hafted etc.. You can play him strictly as a melee character by not equipping any CAs that allow him to shoot. The only problem is he cannot use two handed weapons or shields so it would be a challenging build to use him strictly melee. @ Dragon Brother: the devs sure know how to take the fun out of an imaginative build! Yeah, they left a lot of good stuff in but a few more perks would have been nice.
  8. Here's a thought for an interesting build. I picked up several unique pulsars but my Dryad, although a ranged character, can't use them. I have a seraphim with ranged lore and sword lore. If I give her dual wield she could use two unique pulsars at the same time. Since two of my pulsars are over 100 damage she can be doing over 200 damage easily with each trigger click at level 45 in silver! Include the unlockable mods on them and she can do more damage than with any current swords she has without getting close to the target.
  9. Personally I would not run the Dryad as a melee fighter. Her attack is fastest with ranged weapons. But different strokes for different folks. Have you considered giving her a particular weapon lore, e.g. sword or hafted so her attack and hit while dual weilding are top notch? I'm guessing you plan to dual weild two of the same type of weapon and have uniques or at least yellow for the extra attributes.
  10. @stormwing: Did reinstall S2G without comp mode and so far no problems in Win 7 64 bit. Will try reinstall SG next week.
  11. Here in TX we have Half Price Books. They sell used DVDs and VHS tapes as well as books really cheap. The average price of a used DVD is $5.98 and all are inspected before they are bough by the store. Yeah, it's a bit of hit or miss thing as the particular DVD may not be in that day but stopping by frequently usually gets you the movie you want. And they have 7 day return policy if the book, tape or DVD is faulty in any way. I have bought fairly recent and classic movies stopping in while running errands. Have you checked to see if there is one where you live? Also Fry's Electronics has new DVDs of older movies for $10 and you can find a gem sometimes.
  12. Stormwing: I got an error message with sacred Gold that stated the program will not run in 64 bit each time I installed it and then tried to play. I'll try again and see if I can get past the error message. My sys is an i975 overclocked to 4.2GHz so that may be causing a timing problem loading some of the data files when I try to play the game. Sacred 2 Gold would freeze on the loading tip screen and only stopped freezing in comp mode. I'll reinstall and see what happens in the next few days.
  13. Are you running 2.65.2 rnarchlord? I don't have the compatibility checked on mine. I think it nagged me to re-register when I tried it. anyway if it would let me run full graphics I may give it a try. I'm running 2.65.1 and it never asked me to re-register. I had run it for several months without using the "-nocpubinding" switch and the only times it locked up was when my cat would walk across the keyboard. I recently started using the "-nocpubinding" switch because I have an i975 and wanted to spread the load. Have you checked your thermals? Heat buildup can mess up the cpu and the gpu. Since the game saves whenever you teleport, complete quests or enter/exit caves you should be losing only any progress since the last save/quest. Also, if you are playing Sacred 2 Gold did you activate using only the Ice & Blood key or both? I play with my antivirus running game mode and my firewall is set to game mode as well. Have you tried a reinstall of the game with your antivirus off during the install? Some antivirus programs are real picky as to what can be changed during an install and can mess up a registry key.
  14. It also matters as to what opperating system you are running. In Windows 7 64 bit I have to run in XP service pack 3 compatibility mode but I didn't have to turn down any of the other settings or disable Physx. Your post did not indicate that you tried running in different compatibility modes.
  15. In order to receive the benefits of any extra attributes of weapons or shields they have to be equipped.
  16. To answer your question about Sacred Gold, I have played all characters in it and it's a totally different experience than Sacred 2 Gold. I bought the Gold versions of both games because most of the patches were already installed and both ran perfectly straight out of the box on my systems. Sacred Gold will not run on any windows 64 bit OS even under compatibility mode. Keep that in mind when buying a new system as most come with 64 bit Win7 from the upscale PC builders. I run Sacred 2 Gold on my 64 bit sys in XP service pack 3 mode and have no problems with frame rates or other glitches. For some reason the load screens would freeze up under straight Win7 but my sys is an i975 overclocked to 4.2 with a Radeon 5970. Also, there is a wealth of info on both games on several sites, I.e. Wolfe's Lair, Sacred Wiki as well as Dark Matters. As far as controls go you will actually have more control and quicker response once you get used to the keyboard and mouse configs. Also, you can modify the config to suit your playing style or if you are a lefty.
  17. I make use of the teleporters with most of my escort quests except those that are a very short distance. Occasionally, you have to go back over the intended path after dropping off the escort to clear the circles on the map but that allows me to get more experiance points killing along the way.
  18. Can't help you with how to finish. Once you exit a cave or teleport the game automatically saves and going in and out of the game will not change the saved game. Since you cannot save more than one game with a specific character there is no way to go back and redo a quest. Teleporting on the surface between areas with an escort quest will also sometimes show as completed but the circles will still be on the map. Just going back over the intended path after dropping off the escort will clear the map and correct the log usually. One workaround to the one saved game situation is to save a copy your saved game to another directory prior to undergoing a particularly difficult quest. You can then reload the copy if the quest goes wrong.
  19. I skipped the Pyromancer Lore and put 5 skill points into concentration when starting my HE so I could pick all the Focus skills instead. That way I could pick either tactics or constitution instead. I find Raging Nimbus a very useful spell for mobs aggroing on me and Stormite Focus is more useful than the Lore skills for me.
  20. I have one Seraphim (god=Lumen) that has the Divine Devotion skill and have noticed that the higher the level of DD the shorter the regen of the god spell. However, I find it best used when mobbed by a large group of undead or T-energy critters. It kills them almost instantly. It is easy to raise the level by using relics with the DD+x attribute and through items found in the game rather than investing skill points into it. I won't be able to test what other attributes mastery would unlock as I will not be putting skill points into it.
  21. After reading a large part of this forum I have noticed almost no mention of what god gift goes best with which character. From one post I surmised that the Sakkara demon is best handled by the Inquisitor but does that mean there are no other characters with stategies capable of controlling (somewhat) the demon once he is summoned? Are other players making regular use of the god gift or, like me, rarely ever hit "G" while playing any of their characters? I'd like to hear from both single and multiplayer players how useful they think the god gift is.
