Weeeell...  Yeah, that would be really cool!  But I'm not looking to go quite that broke all at once.  Yet.  :D  I've already got the mITX board so all I really need to get is the case, an SFX PSU which the cases only accommodate and.  A shiny new GPU!    But maybe not too $hiny.  ^^

    @Spock

Yes!  Backup is definitely a priority.  Most of my work goes to and stays in my backups.  I sometimes pull the plug on my backup drives too for similar reasons.  I just don't want my system even having to think about other drives when it's starting up.  I guess I'm a little superstitious that way.  :dntknw:

  2. It's that time again!  About 4 years ago I began the process of picking, purchasing and then building the awesome pc I have now:

It is now time to return to the great adventure of...  Going broke spending loads of money buying pc treats!  ...  Thankfully I'm not in a hurry.  My system is still great but it left me just a bit wanting in one area.  The case size could have been more compact.  At the time there weren't many options in mini itx cases but now...  Oh have I found some goodies.  So!  I'm really looking to shrink-ray my system though I'm sure I'm just gonna end up buying all new parts along the way.  For now it's all about the case and I'm wondering what others have found or are looking at.

The cases, 2 in particular, that I've been eyeing for a week or so now are appropriately referred to as;  Console Killers.  Love that!  The cases are comparative in size to a typical console.  Very portable.  But the potential power, as we know, goes well beyond It would be pretty cool to have a power pc that was very easy to travel with.  So that's pretty much the mission right now.  Pick up the best designed and best priced ultra compact mini itx case.  I'm curious to see what others have seen.  As for what I've been eyeing?  Here they are:

The Fractal Design Node 202 (My first Choice)  $109 Canadian

The SilverStone RAVEN RVZ02B  $99 Canadian

If you've got other ideas for a super compact system I'm all ears!  :D

Ladies and Gentlemen, the difficulty level filter is in. Stackable items will only stack if they are of the same difficulty, effectively removing property mismatch. Stacks have been increased to 99.

Downloading Dmitriy's update now.  I'm about to test this.  If it looks ok, I guess my objections would evaporate, and this debate would become moot, and rune stacking will go ahead as an official feature of the CM Patch.  :dance2:

I really appreciate all the feedback, and thanks to Gogo and Schot for making that big alert at the top of the forum.  Really nice when the "Community" part of the CM Patch comes into play.

Cool!  I didn't even have to vote.  Awesome work guys.  :)

  4. @dimitrius154  Thanks for clarifying!

I can understand the concern regarding the exploit of this feature and was totally on board with the fact that that would be wrong...  Until I remembered that we actually provide chests full of runes as downloads.  So for me the concern of exploit is no issue.  People can download runes to their hearts content if they want.

The fact that we can download runes may also make the possibility of high level runes turning into low level runes when stacking a non issue.  Maybe?

I'm having greater and greater difficulty finding a reason to vote no but won't vote until I feel confident in a choice.

  5. Ah, that's a shame.

Well personally I could easily manage fine with stacking runes but...  Only because I have read this topic.  The problem I would see with this feature is that it may be perceived as a pesky bug.  For those who don't read the fine print.  Would you implement an in game popup warning about the change so players would be well aware?

Also...  I don't think I have quite a clear idea of the proposed feature.  Initially, I had the impression that this would be an automatic function and that I would have no control over the stacking.  It would just happen as I picked up drops.  Upon a second read I get another possible impression that stacking would be manual.

Can someone give a brief step by step of how this feature would behave?  Am I drag-and-dropping runes manually to initiate the stacking of runes?  Or will it be an automatic constant as I play along?

  6. Ok, so I think this is what I would end up doing if rune stacking was implemented with the knowledge that low level runes or stacks of runes would cause higher level same runes to be absorbed into a stack and adopt the lower level rune's stats.

Upon entering a higher server level I would either immediately sell my runes/stacks, store them in my chest or upgrade them.  This would become a routine for me.  Do I have the general logic correct?

Could you not filter more specifically though?  So that bronze runes only stack with bronze, etc?

  7. Ah ok.  I hear what you guys saying about the spacing.  Ok, so if you guys are happy with it then I think the only thing I'll look at is how much space is put between a new line vs. a new paragraph.  I'll make it more obvious to differentiate the two.

Thanx for the screenshot DB!  I think the devs didn't make it clickable because there's potentially several new posts within the forum.  They may not have built in a function to display "only new within forum".  But who knows!  I do agree.  It beckons to be clicked, haha.

TorandoX!  We were just talking about you last night, lol.  Good to see you haven't diminished into the west.  :D

  8. Of backgrounds and spacing and post counts oh my!  Awesome submissions guys!  We're mulling around an idea for something monthly. Just for kicks!

2 & 4 are my favorites there.  I love the Sacred Underworld screen, and the other one is a nice mirror of the light/shadow world I posted earlier.  Good picks.

I have to get used to the spacing now.  On the old forum you had to Enter twice to put a line break between paragraphs.  Now, DarkMatters is like every other site where hitting enter once is enough.  I have to retrain myself!

This also means many old posts have loooooots of extra line spacing.  Once we get settled down, I will likely go back in some of my big posts and edit out all that redundant space between lines and paragraphs.

Maybe that "Preview Post" icon could be moved onto a button and placed down to the left of the "Submit Reply" button?

Spacing has been driving me crazy as well.  I'm not a fan of it and there is a setting to bring it back to the way it was.  I'm just trying to figure out if there is some kind of benefit to it.  The devs of our forum software decided to change the spacing this way so I keep wondering if there is some kind of beneficial logic to it.  I'm yet to be convinced!  That said.  Don't go changing old posts just yet!

As for post counts, everything that has a number in the forum was recounted when we upgraded.  A massive recounting process took place for about 6 hours after I completed the upgrade.  Sooooo...  Lotsa numbers have changed.  Wish I could say exactly why!  Blame it on the weather.  No wait.  Blame it on gogo!  I've been doing that all week.  :D

  9. Well said gogo. My feelings exactly. I've been in denial for a while about the disappearance but... I need to move on! lol. I think it went in the wrong direction anyway. When it went from UnSacred to UnBended I felt a bit of a twinge of doubt. Didn't really make sense to me. Hopefully they'll come up with a new project with a new name!

In the meantime, we're happy to showcase other kinds of development. Cheers Flix! It's much deserved. Now if I could just get the sidebar on sacredwiki to spell download with a captial D. Argh! lol. Some wierd glitch going on there. :twitch:

  10. No worries Bondbug. Couple thoughts I have for you. I'm guessing that the livebox came pre-configured whereas your Netgear is not. With that in mind you might need to call your internet provider for your username and password to put into the Netgear.

As for the "how" with regards to the Netgear, I had a look at the manual:

    http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/DGN1000V3/DGN1000v3_UM_1Aug2013.pdf?cid=wmt_netgear_organic

I think you would need to follow either page 18(NETGEAR genie Setup) or page 41(Internet Connection Setup Wizard)

There's a good chance that your internet provider would wallk you through it. Granted, sometimes getting help from the ISP actually makes the process longer. Call at your discretion!

Oh and the filter/splitter... It's been a long time for me that I've had to use those but I think that using a filter on the line that goes to the netgear would prevent it from working. I Think the filters are only for use with telephones.

Hope all that helps you get to where you're going!

  11. Heya Bondbug. Getting into a bit networking hocus pocus huh! Let me see if I can break what you've said down:

You're in Home-1 and you want to test a potential network setup for Home-2 while at Home-1.

Home-1 Network is using a Livebox that is a Modem/Router combo and the 3 computers are using wifi to connect

Home-2 Network will use a Netgear box

    Some questions:

What is the Netgear model number?

Is the Netgear a modem? A router? Or a modem/router?

When you will bring your stuff to Home-2 will you just be bringing the Netgear? Are you bringing another box along with the Netgear?

It's possible that the Netgear may need some setup whereas the Livebox is simply plug and play. Might need the online manual.
