It actually swirls like it's filled with some kind of cloudy liquid. It's a neat effect and I can't think of where it appears outside of some CM Patch items.

The only option is a LAN game. I think you have to use something like Hamachi or Tunngle.

Credit for this item's design goes to DragonBrother, who did a retexture of this Pole and sent it to me. "Transfixion" has a double meaning of a trance-like state and also wounding. The swirling hypnotic orb mesmerizes enemies while the spiky blades slice and stab them.

We have Dave-O to thank for this item being in the CM Patch, as it came from some of his suggestions for new spears. One suggestion was to recreate a lance from an old game called Eternal Dagger, which had ice damage and chance to stun. The second was for a javelin named after the Spear of Destiny. Combined, we get this new unique!

If you're ok with turning down all the bells and whistles in the game's graphics settings it should run quite smoothly.

This long halberd was an NPC-only item that I unlocked. It was mainly used by Dragon Cultists. This particular blade belonged to Waton, who aspired to be leader of the cult, when he discovered the former leader Ophtanar was giving the cultists dreamberries to make them drugged and fanatical followers. He enlists your help in the Dragon Cult quest. If you play Diablo 2 Fallen, you can get this weapon from Waton as a reward for completing the Dragon Cult quest line.

This weapon was used (rarely) by Ogre Shamans. If you play Diablo 2 Fallen you can get this unique as a reward for defeating Thranak, the Mad Ogre.

Pesmontis nabbed this staff from the Carnach and used his shrink ray to shrink it down to size. It's still covered in flames like you wouldn't believe so get your oven mitts before handling. If you play my mod Diablo 2 Fallen, you will actually get this weapon as a reward for defeating the Carnach.

This is one instance where the item did make it into the game. It could drop as a random rare with Ice and Blood (and still can). It also struck me as unique-worthy though. However, that really is the story for a lot of amazing Ascaron item models - they slipped through the cracks and were just sitting there waiting patiently to be unlocked and added to the game. You'll see more examples of these hidden gems as I move through all the new CM items.

Let me know how my Challenge Mode works out for you if you try it. I created it with almost sadistic glee in response to cries that my Enhanced Spells Mod was making the game too easy. I think it would be even more punishing on the base game, where temp buffs can be active less often.
