  1. Well, I uninstalled the Steam version, and reinstalled the GOG version. Tried the V0150 CM patch again, and this time it worked. Weird, as I did not do anything different. As the GOG version is I&B 2.65.1, I thought I would install the 2.65.1 - 2.65.2 patch found on this website. Soon as I tried to run it, it told me I have the wrong version of Sacred 2 installed. What the hell? GOG version also installs a legacy version of PhysX. What is the reason for this? The Steam version does not do that. Another bizarre thing the GOG version does, is that it tells me it is loading the game with Windows 7 Basic color scheme (I have Win 7 Ultimate). The Steam version never did that either. I can now play the GOG version, but not being able to have the v2.65.2 build is irritating, as is the Win 7 Basic weirdness. I will see if the GOG version is more stable than the Steam version. If it isn't any better I will go back to what I had and eliminate the Win 7 Basic nonsense..
  2. The poor Inquisitor just doesn't get any respect. What's not to love about a character with lines like "Die heretic!", or "Death comes for you"..
  3. Great Googly Moogly that's one economy sized rabbit! They need to put a "Beware of the Rabbit" sign in that yard..
  4. Agreed. I went there with my level 20 Dragon Mage, and it has been a non-stop slugfest. Thank goodness for the Berserk skill (and lots of health pots). I will say one thing though, by the time my DM leaves the swamp he will be a god-like being..
  5. Seraphim is still very noob-friendly. The BFG will always give Berserk a run for its money..
  6. Regarding free play and single player, I just discovered that free play can be used to unlock all of the regions for single player. Start a LAN free play game with a single player character, go to Start Island and select the region you want to visit. Go there and activate a resurrection pylon. Save and exit out from LAN play. Restart the game in single player, and your character will appear at the new region pylon from the LAN game. This was a great find, now I can visit places like the Swamplands without having to slog through the Main Quest just to get there. The old hands probably all know this, but newer players may find it useful..
  7. I may try again when I upgrade my vidcard. A GTX660 should be enough, but apparently it is not. I'll just leave the elite gfx installed but deselected. Maybe someday I can use it. On a side note, I tried the SweetFX, and could not see any difference. I tried the Skyrim Post Process Injector also, but that made it look worse. Too bad, as the injector has made a lot of other games look better. Oh well, the Sacred 2 default graphics will just have to do..
  8. So is this Sophia armor set a separate mod you have to download, or is it already in the CM patch?
  9. I was afraid of that. Yeah, I am well aware of the memory leak. Every couple of hours (sometimes longer), the game will crash, usually on area transitions. Most of the time I will start getting slowdowns as a warning sign (but not always). Truth be told, after installing the elite gfx, I could not see much difference, other than rocks and pavement looking a little more detailed. I've heard that the game looks better with SweetFX, which is not a resource hog. I may give that a try..
  10. I tryed the Elite GFX pack long ago with my old Vista computer, and it turned the game into a slideshow. I couldn't afford an upgrade at the time, so I uninstalled it and forgot about it. My new(ish) PC has considerably more horsepower than the old one, and has been running Sacred 2 with nearly everything maxed out, so I thought I'd give the Elite pack another try. It will run now, but there is still a lot of slowdown. For those of you who are running it without issues, what are your system specs? My specs: W7 Ultimate w/SP1 AMD Athlon X4 @ 3.80Ghz GTX 660 Superclocked w/2GB RAM 8GB DDR3 system RAM
  11. Each region of the map has a boss, but areas of the map other than the starting region (Tyrlesia) have to be unlocked. Look at the virtual map of Ancaria in the Sacredwiki to see them. If you have the Ice & Blood expansion, you can visit the Crystal Plane and the Blood Forest right away. The boss in the Plane is the Crystal Dragon, and the boss in the Blood Forest is the Abisshai of Dissension (a giant eyeball monster). To get to them just go to the main city in Tyrlesia and talk to the ship captain at the docks. If you go before building up your character very much, know that the enemies there are very tough. You will level very fast though, and find lots of good loot..
  12. So do I, but at least I can play CM0150 on the Steam version. Maybe later I'll try GOG again, just not in the mood to put up with the long download right now..
  13. I wouldn't mind seeing some snow. It hasn't snowed here (southeast GA) since Christmas Day of 1989. All we ever get when it snows elsewhere is cold rain. It gets cold enough to snow (was 22F last night), but it never does..
  14. That is strange. The CM patch works perfectly on the Steam version without having to save a game. To have to play and then save a game first with the GOG version is bizarre. I wanted the GOG version so as not to have Steam running in the background in order to play. But I dread the thought of uninstalling my Steam version, and then reinstalling GOG again only to get the same error. Is it possible to install the CM patch over the GOG version and still have the Steam version installed in case it still doesn't work? This is rapidly becoming too much trouble. I already don't like the fact that the GOG version installs a legacy version of PhysX. I think I may have to give this up as a bad job..
  15. To find out what keys do what, From the main menu screen go to gameplay, and then to controls. This lets you reassign keys to different functions, but is also handy just to see the default layout. Most key assignments are logical, like C for character. But inventory is strangely assigned to the letter F, or some such. I changed mine to I. The I key was originally assigned to a combo, but I changed the combo to F..
  16. I decided to get the GOG version of Sacred 2 Gold yesterday. Installed it without any problems, although I did notice that it installs a legacy PhysX driver, and that the version number is 2.65.1, not 2.65.2. I then attempted to install Community Patch 0150, and got a popup saying Sacred 2 was either not installed or the wrong version, and to reinstall Sacred 2. I attempted reinstallation a couple of times and got the same message. I then uninstalled the GOG version and reinstalled the Steam version. CM 0150 installed perfectly over the Steam version. Any ideas?
  17. Sad to hear that. But I know for a fact that there are versions of S1 out there that don't crash as often. GOG is selling Sacred 1 Gold for 9 bucks. I might have to give it a try. I have the Steam version, and it will crash within 10 minutes of starting. I know GOG games are supposed to be optimized to work with Windows 7; I may get it and Sacred 2. I don't know if that would make any difference with Sacred 2; the memory leak is still present. Last night it crashed, and task manager showed sacred2.exe using over 1.5MB of system memory. I seem to remember there being a console command to purge memory, but haven't been able to locate it..
  18. I was so excited when I first heard that DS was making Sacred 3. But then was instantly crushed when I found out it wasn't even going to be an ARPG, just a fighting game on rails. This isn't the only game franchise Deep Silver has ruined. They did the same thing with Dead Island. I was all hyped for DI2 untill I found out it won't have a plot or quests, just a multiplayer game where you run around killing zombies. Luckily Techland is making Dying Light for someone else, and it will be the game DI2 should have been. Looks like Deep Silver has become the European equivalent of EA..
  19. Too bad they felt they had to go the middleman route. They should have taken a page from Crate Entertainment's playbook with Grim Dawn. They were able to release a playable version of their game with only Kickstarter funds, and continue development with just Steam early access and Humble bundle sales. The game still isn't finished, but 2/3rds of it is now available, with a release candidate probably by fall of this year.
  20. I wanted to like Sacred 1, but having already played Sacred 2, the 2D sprite graphics were hard to look at. The over the top spawn rates did not help either, but the constant crashing was the straw that broke the camel's back. Sacred 2 also gave me no end of trouble at first, but once I figured out what was going on with the PhysX and the memory leak, I could play it for tolerable amounts of time without problems..
  21. Ok thanks for the change log. I could not find it anywhere. So only 3 new quests? Not like I've found all 800 of the others yet anyway. Been playing off and on since 2009 and still finding new stuff. I doubt I'll ever find everything that is in this game..
  22. Yeah, just a humorous thing for him to say, "victim #4782" or whatever he actually says..
  23. Yeah, there are a ton of easter eggs. Some of them I don't get; they appear to be in-jokes and references only Europeans would get, or things that don't translate well into English. Still neat to find them though..
  24. Pretty sure he is just saying that's the 4,782nd thing he's killed..
