  1. Yeah, they can learn it. I just took swords, and I didn't want to reroll.
  2. Currently playing a Paladin, and just used the character editor to tweak her to use magic staffs. She is now a beast almost at a BFG level. When she gets Thorns at 75, I think she's going to be a world wrecker. Also playing a Necromancer at 50 with Iron Maiden and Skeletons, will add mages back in at 75. It's good, too. I am planning on trying a Barbarian with a 2 handed lightsaber.
  3. You might want to consider using xpadder to map your stuff to your controller. Here's my setup if you use the program: ;--- Xpadder Profile Data --- DataType=Profile Version=2015.01.01 Name=Sacred 2 xbox Set1Button1Slots=Left Mouse Button (1),A,Right Mouse Button (2) Set1Button2Slots=S,PAUSE 0.10s,Left Mouse Button (1),Right Mouse Button (2),PAUSE 0.10s,A Set1Button3Slots=W,PAUSE 0.10s,Left Mouse Button (1),Right Mouse Button (2),PAUSE 0.10s,A Set1Button4Slots=D,PAUSE 0.10s,Left Mouse Button (1),Right Mouse Button (2),PAUSE 0.10s,A Set1Button5Slots=E Set1Button6Slots=Q Set1Button7Slots=Space Set1Button8Slots=1,2,3 Set1Button9Slots=Tab Set1Button10Slots=M Set1DPadUpSlots=G Set1DPadRightSlots=T Set1DPadDownSlots=F Set1DPadLeftSlots=R Set1Stick1UpSlots=Arrow Up Set1Stick1RightSlots=Arrow Right Set1Stick1DownSlots=Arrow Down Set1Stick1LeftSlots=Arrow Left Set1Stick2UpSlots=Mouse Move Up Set1Stick2UpMouseSpeed=32 Set1Stick2RightSlots=Mouse Move Right Set1Stick2RightMouseSpeed=32 Set1Stick2DownSlots=Mouse Move Down Set1Stick2DownMouseSpeed=32 Set1Stick2LeftSlots=Mouse Move Left Set1Stick2LeftMouseSpeed=32 Set1TriggerLeftSetSelect=2 Set1TriggerRightToggle=1 Set1TriggerRightSetSelect=1 Set2Button1Slots=Left Mouse Button (1) Set2Button2Slots=Right Mouse Button (2) Set2Button3Slots=Enter Set2Button4Slots=Escape Set2Button5Slots=Left Shift Set2Button6Slots=Alt Set2Button7Slots=F7 Set2Button8Slots=P Set2DPadUpSlots=W Set2DPadUpMouseSpeed=32 Set2DPadUpMouseMode=Cursor Set2DPadRightSlots=T Set2DPadRightMouseSpeed=32 Set2DPadRightMouseMode=Cursor Set2DPadDownSlots=F Set2DPadDownMouseSpeed=32 Set2DPadDownMouseMode=Cursor Set2DPadLeftSlots=R Set2DPadLeftMouseSpeed=32 Set2DPadLeftMouseMode=Cursor Set2Stick1UpSlots=Mouse Move Up Set2Stick1UpMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick1RightSlots=Mouse Move Right Set2Stick1RightMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick1DownSlots=Mouse Move Down Set2Stick1DownMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick1LeftSlots=Mouse Move Left Set2Stick1LeftMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick2UpSlots=F10 Set2Stick2UpMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick2UpMouseMode=Spring Set2Stick2RightSlots=F11 Set2Stick2RightMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick2RightMouseMode=Spring Set2Stick2DownSlots=F12 Set2Stick2DownMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick2DownMouseMode=Spring Set2Stick2LeftSlots=F9 Set2Stick2LeftMouseSpeed=32 Set2Stick2LeftMouseMode=Spring Set2TriggerLeftSlots=Left Control Set2TriggerRightToggle=1 Set2TriggerRightSetSelect=0 Set3Button1Slots=Left Mouse Button (1),A Set3Button2Slots=S,PAUSE 0.10s,A,Left Mouse Button (1) Set3Button3Slots=W,PAUSE 0.10s,A,Left Mouse Button (1) Set3Button4Slots=D,PAUSE 0.10s,A,Left Mouse Button (1) Set3Button5Slots=Mouse Wheel Down Set3Button6Slots=Mouse Wheel Up Set3Button7Slots=Q Set3Button8Slots=1,2,3 Set3Button9Slots=M Set3Button10Slots=L Set3DPadUpSlots=6 Set3DPadRightSlots=T Set3DPadDownSlots=4 Set3DPadLeftSlots=5 Set3Stick1UpSlots=Arrow Up Set3Stick1RightSlots=Arrow Right Set3Stick1DownSlots=Arrow Down Set3Stick1LeftSlots=Arrow Left Set3Stick2UpSlots=Middle Mouse Button (3),Mouse Move Up Set3Stick2UpMouseSpeed=32 Set3Stick2RightSlots=Middle Mouse Button (3),Mouse Move Right Set3Stick2RightMouseSpeed=32 Set3Stick2DownSlots=Middle Mouse Button (3),Mouse Move Down Set3Stick2DownMouseSpeed=32 Set3Stick2LeftSlots=Middle Mouse Button (3),Mouse Move Left Set3Stick2LeftMouseSpeed=32 Set3TriggerLeftSetSelect=0 Set3TriggerRightSetSelect=1 _*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_* sacred 2 in game keybinds autocollect: E movement: arrow keys Combat Art 1: A Combat Art 2: W Combat Art 3: D Combat Art 4: S Combat Art 5: space Inventory: 1 Skills: 2 Combat Arts: 3 Buff 1: 4 Buff 2: 5 Buff 3: 6 Logbook: TAB Minimap: Q Health pot: F
  4. Also, episode 1 of my classic Sacred 2 LP is almost at 3,000 views, so doing an LP of the mod will hopefully bring some exposure to an excellent mod.
  5. Whooaaaa super cool! Visual proof that someone else played this mod. New version of the mod is dropping sometime in the next 24 hours if the gods will it. Amazon herself didn't get a ton of changes but the mod overall will be much improved. I may try to get the new version going for my series, then. May take a bit to get it figured out and work through a couple backlog videos. I'm really enjoying the Druid and the Paladin, by the way. Only have em in the 20s, but I'm playing and playing.
  6. I think the only thing I changed was quest xp and gold, which I cranked way, way up. When I switched over to the D2 mod, it swapped in a fresh balance.txt, so I didn't make much changes. My old one I changed a ton of things as an experiment because I was trying to see if I could get the game to let me over level 200. But I couldn't get it to. It was fun playing around with balance.txt, though.
  7. Yep, I got the big head mod on. At this point, it's hard for me to remember exactly what mods I have. The big one is the use of the xpadder program, which lets me play the game with my xbox controller. It's pretty awesome to do it that way, really more immersive with good controls.
  8. I just started a youtube playthrough with this mod. I decided to play as an Amazon. Haven't played the mod too much, and don't know all that much about the Amazon. Hoping my randomly selected build works lol. Here's a link to episode 1:
  9. Generally, it's hard to use more than two aspects and maybe six combat arts.
  10. From what you describe, you mihht be spreading yourself thin. Capricious hunter and weapon and armor skills are the main ways to boost weapon damage. The skills you choose and your gear choices are different for a magic based dryad. Magic dryads start a bit slower, so you might not get strong until you get to 30 or so. If you're guzzling potions by around 40, your build might be doomed.
  11. The Blazing Disks are pretty fun, but it's frustrating to use in dungeons. I have a level 60 disc Daemon, and it was a lot of fun playing. Wood elf is fun with penetrating arrow/multiple shot or a call of the anscestors/thorn bush build. You'd be surprised how once you get to around level 30 thorn bush has an almost arcade like feel, and you can kill almost anything with just thorn bush. It hits like a truck, passes through objects, has insane range, and blows up when archers hit it for absolutely insane splash damage.
  12. I play sometimes, but I don't have the steam version, and I've been heavily modifying my files. I don't think I saved a copy of the default spells.txt, either.
  13. Nice video Bezlonir, is that you speaking? Good job on the Narration! gogo Thanks. Yeah, I have been doing a YouTube channel for a few years, now, so it's what I do.
  14. I remember that video. It was probably the reason why I did my Sacred 2 LP with a high elf using a Mystic Stormite build.
  15. Hi ho. So I found out there's an option to turn on big head mode in options.txt. Here's a video I made showing what it looks like.
  16. I've been playing the game for almost a year, maybe a bit more. I've put in probably at least 300 hours. Hard to tell since I was playing on console and so I had to delete innumerable characters who had 10 to 20 hours in so I could try a new build. Now I'm playing on PC with a gamepad and a program to let me play with it in Sacred 2. I'm really enjoying tweaking builds and such. Once I revamp all the classes, I may put out a mod of my tweaks. Mostly all I'm doing is just turning the knob to 11 on everything. It will make the White Griffin and stuff harder, though, as a huge focus has been massively powerful buffs.
  17. I'm a fan of running dark characters through because the quest flow involves less backtracking in Act I, Act II, and act V. Also, you don't have to fight the boss in the swamps 3 times. That's a big deal because he's a real Barsteward. I hate that fight, honestly. Starting off by running the main quest is a good idea. I almost always start off in Silver difficulty because you don't unlock anything by beating Bronze, and by level 15 or so you should be fine in silver if you've built your character well (mainly sticking to 1 or 2 aspects and not picking bad skills). You can run around to get a few extra levels before you start gold, mainly just trying to get to around 45 or so. Then you are more likely to want to do sidequests and stuff in other difficulties from there. Now, I don't know how you will most enjoy the game. But I've had a lot of fun bringing tons of characters to level 40 or so, just to see how the builds work. I am curious what characters you are running. Sacred and Sacred 2 have very complex mechanics, so there is a great deal that you can potentially mess up at first. It's good to know that there is more experience in the later acts, so as fun as it can be doing side quests, it's a good idea to rush a character through Silver up to like level 40 just to see if it's working for you. Then when you're enjoying the playstyle (and you have more runspeed), it's nice to do some sidequests. Anyway, like a lot of people here, I just love talking about this game. I can't get over it. It's incredible what you can do with this game.
  18. If you swap out the entire spell description in spells.txt, except the focus and lore skill lines, it may work. A lot of your changes won't show up in the in game spell descriptions, and depending on the spell you may wind up with an invalid animation that crashes the game. But that's the simplest way to do it. Make a backup of spells.txt before you try that.
  19. So I was determined to try to play Sacred 2 with console style controls on the PC because of all the problems I had with the console version. Xpadder allows you to map your gamepad buttons to mouse functions and keyboard keypresses. I've set mine up so I can do everything from starting the game to exiting it with the gamepad. I am going to try to put a video I made here showing off how this goes. The two important things to remember are that xpadder, or any other keymapping program you use, has to be run in administrator mode, and that you should use the free camera mod in combination with this to provide a better feel to the camera.
  20. I was wishing just yesterday that they'd made a rune system where you choose which runes you want, then pick the exchange rate, and then you just hit a button for the rune you want and the game automatically takes as many runes from your inventory as needed, without taking the runes you flagged as useful. Then you could get a rune every time with one click.
  21. Hey all. So I'm pretty excited as of late with playing Sacred 2. I got xpadder now, and I have set it up so I can play on the PC almost with the feel of the console. I do everything with the gamepad, menus, everything. From the moment I start the game till when I quit. It's pretty sweet. I'll post a video in a few days showing it all off. Anyway, since I've been able to play on PC, I've been playing around with modding different builds, just making everything more powerful. So I'm tweaking here and there in balance.txt to make the mobs tougher. I'm hoping to just amp up everything. One thing I'm hoping to do is raise the level cap. So far I'm at 85 with my Dryad, so time will tell if I've succeeded. I wish I could add a difficulty, but I'm not sure it would be possible. I'm confident it would be very time consuming if it were possible. Anyway, I don't have much to share, but I've been dying to post about how much fun I'm having with this right now. I'll post a video before too long to show what I'm up to.
  22. You can use X-Mousebutton control to remap the middle mouse button to your right mousebutton. Lately, I've been using xpadder, which was 10 bucks, to play on the PC with my gamepad. It's a pretty complicated setup, but I can do literally everything with the gamepad.
  23. I'm playing a ranged Shadow Warrior around level 56 right now, and it's probably my most favorite character because he gives you so much that you can do to react to situations and be powerful, so many interesting moves, and the lack of bad weaknesses means I can relax and just enjoy playing. He's got offense and defense boosts, great buffs, a jump, generous adaptability in the builds, fun weapon damage CA mods, various ways to get Area of Effect and big single target damage. That said, most of his uniqueness seems to be locked in Astral Lord, which I haven't been able to use. My second favorite character, and my previous favorite, is the Dryad. The two things I don't like about the Dryad is the terrible vulnerability to fire and the lack of a good offensive boost for a ranged Capricious dryad. I feel very good playing a Dryad, but if I step away from the controller on PS3, she could die to a fire mob, despite being virtually immortal elsewhere. I want to love the Temple Guardian because there are so many neat CAs, but you almost can't use some of them, and most of them are almost useless at a low level. That said, I did recently discover how powerful a low level Source Warden is against Kobolds. I'm in the process of tinkering with a ranged TG using a one handed blaster. Early signs are that it's going to be good. I think my least favorite character, minding I haven't played Dragon Mage, is the High Elf. She's fun to play, but I feel like too many of her CAs feel redundant, like having two AoEs in Arrant Pyromancer. When you're trying to make a Magic Coup build, it's really disappointing that almost none of the offensive spells have debuffing bonus choices. You have to choose a tree for a defensive buff because you have almost no defensive skills, but I think Incendiary Shower and Cascading Shroud are the only CAs there that have any use for a melee high elf. One of the things I enjoy is planning out builds, and every time I try to make a magic coup build, I feel like my hands are tied.
  24. Hey all. So, I've been playing Sacred 2 a bunch again. I'm still barely scratching the surface, but I my love of the game keeps clashing with my frustration with the game. I've been thinking over my frustrations as I play, and kind of putting together thoughts on it. I can think of 3 big problems with Sacred 2, which might have affected its success. 1. Clunkyness. This is something that kind of carried over from Sacred Underworld, with the animations and the moves sometimes not going off smoothly. I was playing a Dwarf in Sacred, and so many times I'd be running along and then try to click on a mob to cannon blast it and it would take like 3 clicks to get it. I often feel a similar drag in Sacred 2, and it can be hard to get moves to go off with precision when the game gets laggy. For me, this makes it so when the game gets hard, it often feels unfair because I don't feel in control. So I'm more likely to stick to stuff that's easier, but that isn't rewarding. So I'm either getting bored killing kobolds or praying that elite orcs or temple guardians don't kill me. 2. Bad interface. I really enjoy the game on the console. The use of two analog inputs is almost required to enjoy navigating the camera and moving your character smoothly. On the computer, you're forced to choose between being able to control your character well or controlling your combat arts well (unless you have an advanced keyboard and mouse, I suppose). I find the computer works okay for spell users with quick cast, but I just can't enjoy melee. Besides that, I got used to fluidly using up to 8 CAs, and you just can't do that on the PC. On the console, the two things that kill my experience are the lack of draw distance, and more importantly the narrow range of camera angles. Any time you're going uphill, you can't see anything. One thing that intrigues me about the way this game was designed is that you have a ton of detail in a lot of areas. You can zoom in and notice tons of stuff. But because the way the combat is, you really need to be zoomed out more. And it's a combat-focused game. So the level of detail or the scale of things somewhere along the line is just not thought out. Everywhere you look in this game, you can see that they tried to have cake and pie and eat them too. I appreciate the attempt, and it would have been great if it hadn't realistically spread them too thin and resulted in a lack of depth in crucial elements. That brings me to my third thing. 3. An Imbalanced Experience. Sacred 2 suffers from the same 2 balance issues I feel Sacred suffered from. Firstly, the mid game, from around level 15 to 50, is really fun and you're constantly opening up new things and getting goodies and rewards. But the early game is brutal and clunky, and the end game after 50 gets really slow. Maybe that's not a problem for some. I'm evaluating it from a single player perspective. The second balance issue I have is the way the early zones are the most detailed and atmospheric places to be, but they're just so bad for experience that it's hard to enjoy playing there. Meanwhile, later zones just don't have as much detail. If you look at the "Places in Ancaria" page on the wiki, the first two zones have a ton of entries, then it gets smaller and smaller. Feels like they either started running out of time or just didn't think those areas through. Unfortunately, those are the places with the best XP. Every time I finish a difficulty and I'm all excited to start the next one, I start killing kobolds and see the XP, and it's such a letdown to get like 1/3 of the XP I was just getting when I left the last difficulty. ------ Obviously, there's a lot of positives, or I wouldn't still be playing the game. I really wish that someday someone tries to make another game like this. I love the depth in skill customization, and the fact that the choices you make affect the way your moves look and feel. I just hope that, if the team ever does make a spiritual successor, they learn from their mistakes and keep the game a manageable size and make sure that the whole experience from start to finish is more rich and rewarding.
  25. The biggest thing I don't get, and I want to understand if it means anything... is when they say "This world is Sacred." The lore page says that the Gods made the heart of Ancaria out of their own blood. But none of it makes any sense. That page also says the Dark Elves killed all the Dwarves. Which also doesn't make sense, considering you can play a dwarf. I feel like the world that they designed for Armalion has a sense of depth and weight. It has to have some kind of history, you feel. But the lore we're given is senseless. It feels like it was written artlessly, not with the kind of art that you can sense went into the game world. Mind you, I do feel like the gameplay that Ascaron designed is unique and special. You can tell that the team for Sacred and Sacred 2 had a real mind for unique gameplay and trying to give the player a deep customization experience. (Though I'd say that failed to put that depth into the enemy design somewhat.) But if there was a person or persons with a mind for story on the Armalion team, they must have not joined on with Ascaron. There's also a book that says the Dark Elves captured the 5 elemental stones and were wreaking havoc on the land and the Seraphim came in with BeeEffGee's blazing but got their butts whipped... and it was the Dwarves who came in to save the day and kicked the Dark Elves butts... Now, this is impossible. First off, the Dwarves have been missing since before Sacred 2 (2000 yrs before Sacred 1). The Dark Elves didn't exist in the time of Sacred 2 yet. The schism that split the High Elves into the Wood and Dark factions (as well as the others like the ice elves) hadn't happened yet. I was just playing today, and I was going around the swamps, seeing some of the dwarf statues there. I'm not really sure, but I kind of feel like they intended to put dwarfs in the game. I think they might have just run out of time and then they had to fill the mines and stuff with dark elves, then they had to make the story based around that. There's a lot of dwarf stuff going on in the game, especially in those mines and underground cities, and in the swamp area. I get the feeling that a lot of the story had to be written quickly at the last minute. The opening cinematic was taken straight from the original development of Armalion, and the other cinematics are mostly patched together, with a lot of reused stuff. Like the short clip of undead marching in the Act 2 cinematic is from the ending cinematic. I am filled with so much curiosity for what they intended to do with this game, and what happened in the development. I can see what makes some people love it, and I can see many things that put people off the game. It seems probable that we can only speculate. Anyway, I've been playing recently, and I'm thinking I might try to get all the books so I can read all there is to learn, myself.
