  1. Aaah Docking! The bane of my Elite life. The relief when I got that docking computer. I think I crashed enough ships while trying to dock to form my own asteroid belts around a number of systems. I never was a great pilot. As for trading in Sacred, pump up that Trading skill and camp at Bravemart. Oh the happy hours I spent hunting for those special items, running between the vendors. The happy cackle as I found that weapon/armour/ring I wanted with + on it! Think I had almost as much fun shopping as fighting (how sad does that make me!).
  2. The original Sacred is very addictive I think, I especially loved the Dwatf character, his sayings made him sound like a real, grumpy old character. The Seraphim put me off to be honest, that voice and her demeaner! Was much better when I switched the sound off! I never really took to Sacred 2, it was technically the better game, but the characters just seemed souless and unbelievable. I suppose I would say that in Sacred I played MY character, but in Sacred2 I played a class. There just wasn't the same attachment. I just wish that they had given Sacred 2 the same care and attention they had given the original, it would have been brilliant. But at least I still have the original and suspect I will keep going back to it every so often for as long as I can still play it. But, welcome back to the game that is number 2 on my all time greatest games list (Have to have Elite at number 1, sorry) and I wish you every joy of playing it. I would say don't limit yourself in what or how you play, the posibilities are endless, try all sorts of wierd ideas, some of then are even more fun that the playing the game straight. My favourite was playing my Dwarf with no weapons at all, it was great watching him as the animations made it look like he was breakdancing or using king fu. And he even beat dragons to death with his bare hands, I had more fun playing 'stupid' ideas and builds than I ever did playing it normally.
  3. Thanks for the advice, may try that later, I uninstalled for now to try another game. Needed the space as my HD is quite full, but may go back and try again when I have the space.
  4. May well be my internet connection, it has been very unstable lately and the service provider is rubbish, but I am contract bound. They were great at first, but now....... I know that even forum websites are getting slow to load for me and I have to scale graphics right back for any online gaming, but Conan has proved to be so slow its unbelievable. I did the first 'nightime quest' and when I came back and re-entered the Thirsty Dog, I was amazed to see NPCs sitting in mid air in a blank 3D landscape. Then doors started to appear, followed later by the odd item of furniture, stairs, tables, walls and finally a roof. That took well over a minute, then I walked through to where the Quest giver NPC was supposed to be and waited until he eventually spawned. By this point I was thinking it might be faster if I drew it all myself! Then when I went outside I had to wait while it all happened again for the external stuff, came back into the Thirsty Dog and had to wait for it all again. I lowered all graphics to minimum and it made no difference to this problem although it did allow my character to interact and move more smoothly. In the end I gave up and uninstalled the game. Shame really as it looked a decent game. Edit: I'm using an Intel Celeron 2.4GHz Dual Core, with 2048Mb RAM and GeForce 7100 graphics card, running Win7 64bit. Hardly a top gaming rig, but worked fine up until recently now it is obviously obsolete. But since I am limilted financially by only having Invalidity Benefit to live on, it will have to do for a while longer.
  5. Was looking at it when I heard it was F2P, thought I might give it a try but was put off by some reviews about repetitive gameplay, clumsy controls and empty servers. So since you are actually playing it, what is it really like? It looks a massive download and I would have to uninstall a fair bit of my stuff to make room. Is it worth it do you think? I like to try a game out beofre I put money into it if at all possible, since I have been caught out before with paying for it and then finding it is rubbish. Update: I found the game unplayable for me due to excessive load times. For example entering or leaving the Thirsty Dod tavern, I have to wait over a minute for the scenery to appear and up to another minute for the NPCs to spawn. Seems my system just can't cope with Conan. I'm sure if it was the game rather than me then the forums would be full of complaints.
  6. I'm thinking of trying again next spring but actually selecting the variety this time. I have to admit peppers are not something I would have thought to grow here in England, I was instead considering growing dwarfed fruit bushes in tubs on my patio.
  7. I have to admit that my horticultural ability is not that great, but I found a packet of Chilies seeds at a garden centre in the 'Reduced price sale bin. They were only about 40cents, so I bought them, planted them in pots and put them on the kitchen windowsill. They grew to about 30cms high and produced about 20 pods each, some Hungarian Black variety and some Devil's Brew. I have not tried any of the chilies yet but it was an interesting experiment using no equipment except a plant pot.
  8. I rather agree with you about MMOs. I have been an ardent LotRO fan and player for a couple of years now and really loved the World, Characters and gameplay. But because it is an MMO I am at the mercy of the developers wanting to appeal to the widest possible audience. I have lost track of the number of revamps to the game in the last two years, changes to deeds, skills, characters, requirements, gameplay, allsorts. The latest being that they have introduced mounted combat, so to not 'interfere' with their new baby, all the skills that previously defined my character, such as stuns, traps, debuffs, etc had to be nerfed and rewritten to stop me using them against mounted players and mobs. (Argghhhh!) As another example, I enjoy playing WoW occasionally, but I loved the Burning Crusade version and hate the new Cataclysm (Not to mention Pandaland), but once the servers move on, you lose out, upgrade or die (characterwise) With a proper game that will not happen, don't want that new doodad or change to skills, then don't install the update. MMOs give you no choice!
  9. Yes, I am playing it on Win7 64bit without any problems except for trying to get the Vetmod to work. It is great playing all my old favourites, character I sorely missed in Falling Angel. Especialy my crusty little Dwarf, I loved that grumpy little so-and-so and fondly remember him slowly beating dragons to death with real unarmed combat(I didn't equip even combat gauntlets) and almost cried when the lag monster killed him back on the old Hardcore servers. And Gogo, I am ashamed of you;
  10. I recently decided that I really missed playing Sacred 2 and decided to reinstall and start playing again. So I dug out my Sacred 2 Gold discs and reinstalled, then spent 7 hours trying to get the bloody Securom to accept that I really do have valid game keys. Eventually after a lot of frustration, swearing and managing not to break thing in temper, I managed to get the game working. Yes! I loaded up the game, sat staring at the character creation screen and thought "Which class do I want to play?". After about 10 minutes I realised I couldn't really be bothered enough to want to play any Sacred 2 class. So I uninstalled the game again, installed Sacred Underworld instead and have been having a ball playing all my old favourites, Dwarf, Vampiress, Daemoness, etc. Now if I can just get Veteran Mode to work with Win7 64bit I will be a truely happy man!
  11. Mine is its usual mixture of colours naturally. Brown with grey highlights, ginger sideburns, grey moustache with some black hairs and white beard with some ginger hairs. I couldn't have organised such combinations if I tried, only nature is that random.
  12. I know that the film that gave me the most fright was Jaws, I was stationed in Hong Kong doing a scuba diving course and on the night before I took my final diving exam we got to watch Jaws in the NAAFI/PX Store. I was so on edge the next day that I jumped at every shadow when I was in the water and I swear that if as much as a goldfish came near me I would have Pee'd in my pants! Slightly off topic, does anyone remember the original Quake 1 game? That was a classy game with a great environmental soundtrack. I remember playing that at about 2am in a darkened room while wearing headphones so as not to disturb my wife. I was totally immersed in the gothic horror of the game when my wife crept up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder.......... I'll let you imagine my reaction! Suffice to say that I only ever played that game in broad daylight after that incident.
  13. They have! Take a pint of cider every hour on the hour and I guarantee the pain will lessen considerably, and be much more bearable. It's a nice idea Podgie mate, but a bit short term. The next morning you wake up and you still have your bad back, but with the added bonus of a hangover ! So take another pint of cider every hour ............
  14. They have! Take a pint of cider every hour on the hour and I guarantee the pain will lessen considerably, and be much more bearable.
  15. Hmmm, what happened to the cool, calm, and collected Podgie we all know and love ? That is the cool, calm and collected Podgie! You don't want to see the bad tempered Podgie, you really don't. When I swell up to three times normal size, my skin turns green and I start screaming "Hulk Smash!" it's time for you to run for cover. On a good day the devastation is sort of like the Poison Daemoness with her Poison Ring attack, on a bad day ........... well, you don't want to go there! PS, sorry I took so long to reply as I have been busy rebuilding the back of the house, I had a minor temper tantrum and needed to repair some damage I caused.
  16. And that was my problem with TQ, wander down the narrow path, fight a boss, wander some more, fight another. I have just walked through 3 screens, hmm boss on the next screen then, etc. I like my games to be like a treasure hunt, TQ felt more like running a marathon on a small circular track, nothing much changes and just counting laps until you finish with each lap having a hurdle to jump at the end of it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, it just gives me attacks of claustrophobia, although I really like the Masteries mod and my latest favourite skill is using Landmines, mwuahahah!
  17. A bit like Diablo 2. I'd play for a while and get fed up with trying to get a complete set ! Then, a couple of weeks later I'd be playing again ! Yes, but with me it was usually delete characters in disgust, uninstall game, and throw in a cupboard for 9-10 months, until I decided to maybe try again. As for Diablo 2(Lord of Destruction) that is never off my computer. I use the MedianXL mod by BrotherLaz and the PlugY storage chest expansion sustem. So with the option of 11 different skill tables for each character (3 original and 8 MedianXL which can be used in combination) and the infinte storage capacity of the shared storage chest that all your characters use (so all stored items are available to all your characters), the game never gets stale for me.
  18. Thanks, I got it downloaded and gave it a quick try last night. Only 30 minutes or so but like the feel, even though it seems to be linear pathed, it seems to be a much wider path that doesn't feel as claustrophobic.
  19. No need to be sorry, a lot of people have said the same mate, including me. I will probably play with these mods for a while and get fed up again, then put it aside for another year or so without finishing it.
  20. Can't seem to find a working link for Lilith, but I did get the Diablo 2 Immortal mod and am really looking forward to trying it out ASAP. I have been trying the Masteries mod and although it was interesting, it still didn't quite do it for me. Alchemist was fun for a while though.
  21. I may well give it a try with one of the mods, maybe Lilith, but I was so underwhelmed by the main game that I am not over optimistic. Still I may as well get some of my money's worth out of the game if I can.
  22. I'm really sorry Steve and I hope you have a positive outcome. I know my wife worries about that herself since she was diagnosed with diabetes.
  23. The Mandolin is a great kitchen tool and until my little accident I looked forward to using it. However since the accident I get a cold shiver everytime I think about it, but that doesn't stop me using it because if you treat it right and take precautions it is still a brilliant piece of equipment that saves a lot of work and is great for cutting things in ways that make for beautifully displayed food presentation. Enjoy using it my friend, just do not be careless when using it anymore than you would any sharp object.
  24. Have you had experience Podgie? It's because of my few months on a auto smoked meat cutter (first school job I think) that I wince a bit everytime I look at anything more complex looking than a knife. gogo Yes, and the emergency room had a few choice things to say about how many people were stupid enough to use a Mandoline. It seems there was a bit of a craze for them at the time and nothing was said in the instructions about losing the ends of your fingers, or about any protective glove. They were withdrawn from sale not long afterwards and I rarely see them in stores these days, but when I do, they now come with a special sliding attachment that you put the vegetable into with a tube and "ram" so you don't have to hold it. It works just like the 'feeder' tube on a food processor. I don't think it is legal to sell the old style Mandolines in this country now for Health & Safety reasons. I have one of the new ones and love it, but I still treat it like handling a live snake. Once 'bitten' twice shy my friend.
  25. I'm afraid that I am well behind the technology curve here and don't possess, or even intend to buy any of these new-fangled gadgets. But then I do have a gadget that has served me very well for the last 50 odd years and makes gadgets like those redundent, it's called a brain and it allows people to think for themselves! Of course brains are not suitable for everyone as they can seriously interfere with their lifestyle, but I would recommend that everyone at least tries using one to see if it could replace all this 'essential technology' that will think for us. OK, rant over. I'll leave you in peace while I practice shaking my walking stick for when I want to chase some danged kids off my lawn.
