chattius 2,549
It is about the cover and not necessary the music? I think there was a period in time (early 1970ties) when many bands did surrealistic covers mainly done by air brush (no photo shop or computrs back then) Yes (they had something like a banyee tree I think), White Snake and others all had this type of covers. Sirius 16
A couple from me too: Yeah, that's it! Truly magnificent. Keep posting your favourites people, no matter what music it is. I have to say, Chattius, that those covers were much more appealing to the eye than the modern photoshopped ones. There is something very genuine about them. I really like it when a band decides to take their image to painted cover arts. I have some more for you. Truly brilliant work: Link to comment
chattius 2,549
A LP cover had more room than a CD cover, more space to be creative. Remember these foldable dual or triple LP covers and how many room they had for art? Link to comment
Sirius 16
Yeah, that is so typical 70's. Hand-drawn images of surreal dreamscapes and universes. Here are some more from the same era: Link to comment
Sirius 16
Thought I should share some more cover arts with you: Link to comment

Aegis 256
You know, while I like art, and I like music, I rarely take the time to appreciate album cover art so it's a little harder for me to decide. But that's not to say I don't have any. Here's a couple from X-Ray Dog: Link to comment
Sirius 16
Hmm, not bad at all. =) Can you tell me about the music? Take a look at these in the meantime: Link to comment
Aegis 256
X-Ray Dog is a musical study where they compose music for trailers and soundtracks. Lord of the Rings, Transformers, and Prince of Persia are examples. Here be another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMq3sJ1TNEo And what can I say? Horned skulls and dragons are my kind of thing. Link to comment

Sirius 16
One of the best cover paintings in my disc collection: Yes, it definately makes an impact, Chattius. I'll take a listen to the song. Nice to see more people joining the topic. I've noticed that you have a lot of favourites from 70's rock, Chattius. As far as I'm concerned, the 70's was the golden age of music. My fav's being Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and some Deep Purple. I know they are some of the biggest names to come out of that era, but they really stand out. Still, I'd like to find more underground music from that decade. Edit: The beginning of that song sounds VERY similar to Uriah Heep's "Circle of hands". Check it out! Edited February 25, 2011 by Sirius Link to comment
chattius 2,549
Local volunteer firefighters have a band I am in, better 2 bands. A brass band at parades and a small 'pop-group' playing oldies at marriages and parties. Somehow the seventies music is most wanted. What is typical early 70ties for me as a young child not knowing english then: Kraftwerk. One of the best bands ever in my eyes. Scorpions gave some concerts I listened (standing on a hill 1 kilometre away, no money for tickets). But The Scorpion covers were very controvers at these time: kids playing with guns in war graveyard for example, or the cover which forced government to stop wikipedia appearing in germany: Virgin killer. (I have the disc with the original cover still, never understood the panic behind the picture 20+ years later) Then late 70ties was starting of NDW Neue deutsche Welle, german new wave which then resulted in Nena, Hubert Kah,... in early 80ties. But my favourite was DAF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwAJXV070OY They did this type of music before computers could produce all possible sounds. So my personal underground 70ties: german new wave before it became mainstream. Edited February 25, 2011 by chattius Link to comment
Sirius 16
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwAJXV070OY Interesting.. Also, I would like to add that bands like Camel and Jade Warrior have been much played lately. Know any other bands like that? Link to comment

Delta! 988
Ok so it might be completely unrelated to the other music cover arts, but The 2002 album Stripped, by Christina Aguilera. Simple, but I thought WOW! I love those jeans on her! she looks really hot, and I still think Dirrty is one of the best music videos! Link to comment

Sirius 16
There are so many, but one of the best albums ever, and with a cool cover :- Kate Bush - Kick Inside Ah, another fan of Kate Bush eh? I remember hearing her song "wow" in GTA: Vice City on a radio channel there. I always had to stop my car and listen it through. There is hardly a more enchanting person anywhere in the world. I actually own that album. "Moving" is a very sad song I think. Great contributions, Steve! Link to comment
