Missed a trick Blizz ?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

We can only level up to 60 in D3 so, in my mind, it is obvious that there will be an add-on/expansion at some time in the future. In the add-on we will be able to level up to 99, along with new area's, monster's and shiny new items. (Of course, I might be wrong........)

Anyway, the point I wanted to make is that I think Blizz have boobed. IMHO, they should have let us have difficulty level's only going up to Hell in the first D3, and then introduced Inferno in the add-on. We would all have been excited at this new challenge, don't you think ?

What's your opinion's ?

The challenge from Inferno was needed at release imo.

Though they should have cut nightmare" instead. 3 difficulties is more than enough, before it gets too repetitive.

For expansions (or rather for patches, which wont happen I guess) I hope they add other types of end-game; Endless Dungeons, Horde Mode, "Uber" bosses etc.

There has been some talk about fixing the 'end game' on the D3 boards but I doubt it'll be any time soon.....looks like some more balancing/nerfs coming up in 1.04 and then patch 1.1 will be to add PvP.

Quoted from Bashiok, D3 CM

We recognize that the item hunt is just not enough for a long-term sustainable end-game. There are still tons of people playing every day and week, and playing a lot, but eventually they're going to run out of stuff to do (if they haven't already). Killing enemies and finding items is a lot of fun, and we think we have a lot of the systems surrounding that right, or at least on the right path with a few corrections and tweaks. But honestly Diablo III is not World of Warcraft. We aren't going to be able to pump out tons of new systems and content every couple months. There needs to be something else that keeps people engaged, and we know it's not there right now.

We're working toward 1.0.4, which we're really trying to pack with as many fixes and changes we can to help you guys out (and we'll have a bunch of articles posted with all the details as we get closer), and we're of course working on 1.1 with PvP arenas. I think both those patches will do a lot to give people things to do, and get them excited about playing, but they're not going to be a real end-game solution, at least not what we would expect out of a proper end-game. We have some ideas for progression systems, but honestly it's a huge feature if we want to try to do it right, and not something we could envision being possible until well after 1.1 which it itself still a ways out.

Given how games work these days I'd be surprised if there wasn't an expansion (or two), There's nothing to say they can't add another difficulty either, they just need to hope their thesaurus doesn't run out of words for big fires. Diablo III Conflagration level? Firestorm level? BBQ level?

Actually, I take back 'these days'. Haven't we expected out favourite games to be expanded over the last fifteen years or so?

I read somewhere that Blizzard was p[lanning on releasing, not one, but 2 expansion packs for Diablo 3. If I run across the offical Blue Notes on it I will try to add a link to this.

Yeah, I definitely recall hearing about multiple expansions planned.
