Thorium 115 Popular Post Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) Hey guys, after our last Kickstarter failed, we accepted that small games like that are not interesting enough for you. So now we put everything in that we have and have started a new big project. I don't want to tell you just now what the game is exactly about, but I am pretty sure quite some people on Darkmatters could be interested. We will tell you everything about the game as soon as we have a prototype ready, which will take a few month. Currently the concept is in the works and programing of the prototype has started. We are no longer working with the coder, we did our small games with. We parted ways, but staying friends. I do the coding of the prototype. Aarne Jungerberg (Sacred lead game designer) is creating the concept and will do level design. Cords-Illustration is doing the graphics for the prototype and we have a new team member, which is a book author. She will write the story, don't want to drop her name just yet, because it's all very fresh and not all details of our cooperation are worked out. But she did gave me a yes. Follow us on Twitter. We will regularly tweet how the project is progressing and will drop hints about the genre, world and story. If you want to chat with us directly, join our Discord. We are also looking for people who want to join our team and would want to work on a long term game project with us. If you are interested join the Discord and get in touch with us. We would gladly accept people from the Sacred modding scene and old SacredVault members into our team! You can also follow my personal Twitter, if you want. But all project relevant news will be on our official team Twitter. Would love to see some of you guys following us. This will either be our biggest hit or the hardest fail we ever had. This will be a long term project and since there are quite some people that visit darkmatters every few month, I figured it's a good thing to post about it, in the very early stage it's in currently. Thorium 115 Author Popular Post Posted April 23, 2018 The story will be written by Olivia Stanton, author of The Worsening. She is an amazing personality with a lot of creativity and imagination. We are very excited to work closely together with her to create the world of our game and fill it with a meaningful and engaging story. Also I want to reveal the working title of our project: LifeLeech 2
Dragon Brother 620 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2018 Best of luck to you and the team Thorium!! Here's to seeing more information in the coming future. 2

Serboi 29 Posted April 25, 2018 Motif 1 : LifeLeech, similar to the concept of spells in Diablo-esque video-games. Motif 2 : "People on Darkmatters might like it" So it is an action-based point&click RPG in the vein of Diablo or, rather, Path of Exile. The latter seems more probable game-wise, but the first more probable concept-wise. Am I wrong ? 1

The genre will be revealed once we have a prototype, we are happy enough with to show. At that point the project will become much more community driven and open. We just don't want to promise to much right now. But there is indeed a reason I posted this in only 2 communities on the internet, so far. Just getting some people interested in speculating about it and maybe finding more people to join our team and the project, without making a huge buzz about it. Edited April 25, 2018 by Thorium 1

I have not heard about the author before, but what I now quickly read up about her and the books seems very positive for a great horror story. I would not be able to help any on the coding and patches and things like that, but just the author working with you has now tickled my interest, so I would like to see the game when it is ready... 2
Knuckles 904 Popular Post Posted April 26, 2018 Hey Thorium... Sorry the first go at Kickstarter didn't work out well....though the game wasn't one I was interested in (sorry ), we all hoped you were successful in your endeavor. If this new game is any type of rpg or city builder, I would be more than happy to help out. While I don't have any skills in modding or in making the game...I will happily alpha/beta test for you guys 2

No problem, we don't give up that easily, we have learned a lot and the Kickstarter was a very interesting experience. Our new project is completely different from what the Kickstarter was about. It's right on the edge of what we are capable of. Thank you for all your positive feedback. It provides a lot of motivation to the whole team. For the little texts we gave to you, the positive feedback means a lot for me and the team, thank you! 1
Thorium 115 Author Posted May 3, 2018 (edited) Build our first internal multiplayer demo. Working nicely. Multiplayer is an important part of the game and we want to have it working right from the start, so we can ensure that everything is working fine in multiplayer. Game will also be a strong singleplayer game, don't worry. Pathfinding is done on client to have low latency movements but server checks if you can actually move where you are going and will reset position if not valid. So, no cheating. Good to hear that your first demo is working smoothly. And I'm sure everyone will appreciate your attempts to minimise latency!! 1

Thorium 115 Author Posted June 27, 2018 We got the first public video about the project out. It shows and explains how item generation works in LifeLeech. It's pretty technical and kind of dry, but if you are interested how things like that work in our project, take a look. 1

It's probably to technical and dry for many people but I just wanted to show that we are actually working on this and we do make progress. We also have a basic model of our first character with some basic animations and texturing, but it hasn't reached high enough quality to show it to the public. Also we are still missing graphics artists and next month we will buy a lot of assets from the Unreal marketplace, so we can get the level design going. There is no way we can make the prototype with custom assets. We are just missing the man/woman power. Hopefully we get enough funding to pay artists to make all the assets we need. There are quite some artists interested in the project, but they don't do it for free. ^^ If there are no news for some time, that does not mean we are not working on it. I just don't want to show things that don't have a certain quality standard. This video is also not meant as advertising but more showing progress and maybe getting a few more people interested to join the team. We also got another game designer to join the team. He is a professional from Russia and does game design for a pretty big company and game. After we will work together for a few month we will tell who he is. ^^
Woody 24 Popular Post Posted June 29, 2018 I agree with Gogo, it's nice to see the project keeps going. Will definately look at the full video when I have enough time to do so, but what I've seen so far from parts of it, already makes me happy. Bronze Difficulty and Bronze/Silver/Gold slots look really familar, eh. 2
Thorium 115 Author Popular Post Posted July 3, 2018 There are some questions and discussions about our project LifeLeech and our relation to Sacred and Unbended.
