Indy13 5
Turns 1&2 - nothing special, just our troops closing in on Tokyo Turn 3 - Artillery research complete. Turn 4 - A great engineer is born in Beijing. I decide to use him and the great artist to start a golden age. Turn 5 - The city of Tokyo is captured! (forgot to take a screenshot) only remaining Japanese city is the one up north. Turn 6 - Nothing much other than gathering our forces near the Greek borders. Turn 7 - Surprise for Alexander as we declare war on him. Surprise for us as Montezuma declares war on us. >_< Oh well, he shouldn't be a problem. Turn 8 - Alexander quickly dispatches stacks near Tokyo and up north near Nara. The ones near Tokyo are crushed immediately, however we have no major troops in Nara. >_< But there's no need to worry! We can send reinforcements in time. Turn 9 - Rock 'n Roll is finished in Borisburg. I decide that sending troops north to kill off Togukawa is too much of a hassle so I sign a temporary peace treaty with him. Turn 10 - Delphi is captured. Turn 11 - The troops near Nara were almost defeated, however Alexander sends in more by sea. Such a worthless attempt. The city of Madras fall in front our troops. Turn 12 - Eifel Tower built in Beijing. We meet up with Monty's troops near Delphi. Turn 13 - We research Composites. Now all we need is Computers and we'll be able to upgrade our tanks to Modern Armor. Our forces will be unstopable. Turn 14 - Corinth is captured. The Egyptian border is now within our reach. Turn 15 - The Greeks lose both Athens and Sparta to us. ------- Save here. ------- Thoughts: Everything is going according to plan, with our forces completely overruning the enemies. I've started building up troops in our north-eastern border cities, as well as on the island cities, which should allow us to open new flanks. (I believe that fighting on two, or even three, flanks is possible and that it would greatly speed up our victory). I've also built some transports to send troops against offshore colonies, but have yet to build the troops to send on them, or any escort ships to send along. I can't hog up all the fun to myself now can I? Edited February 25, 2008 by Indy13 Link to comment
ganto 0
Wow ...great post and turnset indy! Agree that we should attack on all flanks, especially when we get modern armor!! Edit: Manually counted 59 cities ..and 102 turns left. We need to put in an extra gear Link to comment
enci 0
Great turns Depending on how I fast I will be with my uni stuff, I’ll squeeze in my turnset tomorrow, or Thursday I’d rather leave the ship building fun for ganto though Link to comment
enci 0
Plan was obviously to conquer as fast as possible, so I was spamming military, airports and barracks. I have to admit, I rarely (read: never) do late-game wars, so I probably made some - ermmm how to put it - “tactically sub-optimal” choices. Only played 10 turns, with all the fighting and this many cities it felt like 30. The eventlog of these 10 turns is 40+ pages long, so forgive me for not using the standard layout Turn 1. Turn 2. computer -> fascism, for war weariness problems Turn 3. Found some tanks lying around on the Egyptian borders, so I declared war --- awfully long attacks from the Egyptians, I started to document our losses, but got bored. Went downstairs to make some coffee when I got back, the attacks were still going on --- Turn 4. probably the highlight of my turnset, the classic spear vs tank. And this time, we even managed to lose it! yay D.a.r.k II's Tank (13.77) vs Alexander's Phalanx (7.75)Combat Odds: 78.2% (Extra Combat: -20%) (Extra Combat: +10%) (Plot Defense: +20%) (Fortify: +25%) D.a.r.k II's Tank is hit for 11 (30/100HP) D.a.r.k II's Tank is hit for 11 (19/100HP) D.a.r.k II's Tank is hit for 11 (8/100HP) Alexander's Phalanx is hit for 33 (67/100HP) Alexander's Phalanx is hit for 33 (34/100HP) Alexander's Phalanx is hit for 33 (1/100HP) D.a.r.k II's Tank is hit for 11 (0/100HP) Alexander's Phalanx has defeated D.a.r.k II's Tank! Turn 5. Fascism ->Robotics and with the capture of Thermopylae, Alex is finally defeated Turn 8. our forces finally reached the Egyiptian cities captured Alexandria too, seems I failed to take a pic on a side note: Egypt has tanks. oh joy Turn 10. Robotics-> Mass Media for those happy faces spotted Monty’s naval force. We have exactly one ship nearby, we could use some more… Forgot to switch civics again, if anyone feels that war weariness is getting out of hand, Police State is available. So is Mount Rushmore to build. Save Link to comment
ganto 0
Haha...this is awesome. With a little luck we might just pull this off!! I couldnt understand first why you enci only played 10 turns ... now I do My turnset This time I planed to keep the advance going and capture as many cities I could! We lack stealthbombers and our navy is currently one destroyer so building a few battleships seemed like a good idea. Turn 368, 1958AD: We captured Heliopolis as the first city!! Mass Media -> Medicine Turn 369, 1959AD: This is just so easy ... Pi-Ramesses down! Turn 370, 1960AD: Yay ...combo!! Memphisa and Elephantine crossed!! They never saw our tanks coming ... this camo is just awesome Turn 371, 1961AD: Medicine-> Refrigeration Montezuma drops of an invading force on our isle. Was scary at first but managed to get most units in the first turn so no real danger and next turn they were completly wiped. Turn 373, 1963AD: Refrigeration -> Ecology Lowered tech to 50% to get more gold!! We need it to rushbuy armors. Turn 374, 1964AD: With 2 turns and no capture it was combo time again! El-Amarna and Thebes joins our empire Turn 375, 1965AD: We captured Corihuayrachina (had to look 3 times at my notes to spell this one right ) Ok, we are running out of cities to conquer, main forces are at the western front but Inca also seems like a nice target. Had a really tought time to chose and was about to ask what civ you thought that we should attack but then decided why one ... so Inca and Arabia are now at War with us!! Huayna Capac has completed Apollo Program so Inca was a good choice maybe. Cant let him get away with this!! Turn 376, 1966AD: We have captured Ollantaytambo!! Stealthbombers are just awesome!! Long range and airstrikes that just pawns the other civs!! Spotted an invading force, sent our battleships to intercept Turn 377, 1967AD: We have captured Baghdad!! Time played: 15 hours 46 mins 31 secs Summery We have 3 spotted invading forces heading our way. The right most should be ok as we have several battleships intercepting but the other 2 may cause some trouble as we might need to move some of our invading forces as defence. My thoughts The advance went well (so far) with 9 captured cities. We should be able to keep the pace if the oncoming invading forces doesnt cause to much disorder. We still have a shot at conquest victory aslong as we keep producing armies. Think we should keep tech low and use gold to rushbuy both armies and buildings we need. I planned to have atleast one transport with 2 battleships raiding isle cities but failed so we need to send one out asap as it will take some turns traveling to all locations. Here is the savegame Link to comment
Indy13 5
Woohoo! another exciting turnset! I say we definetly have a chance to win by conquest, we just need to build a navy. Also at one point we should be careful about keeping conquered cities, otherwise we might get a domination victory and that wouldn't be as much fun. So that being said, Tim, are you able to play this turnset? Link to comment
fRACTAL 0
Yep indeedy I am! ~Doom Looking at our maps I am officially worried about ruining our empire in only 10 turns Edited March 2, 2008 by TimOfDoom Link to comment

fRACTAL 0
Well later than promised (what a suprise) The Write up not especially interesting unless you like tales of conquest, I decided to omit the pictures as they are just ones like "you capture X" 1. Corinth revolts how dare it! Still ours 10 turns on though. We take Machu Picchu at 2 casualties, Vilcabamba at 0, Byblos at 1 and we get peace with Egypt for one of their last 2 cities (it takes us 8 turns to reach their final city anyway, so the 2 turn wait didn't matter so much. Damascus is taken for 2 casualties and we attack Tlaxcala costing us a tank. 2. Ecology! and we take Tlaxcala (No more casualties) 3. We take Tiwanaku for 2 tanks 4. We take Nagoya! JAPAN IS CRUSHED! 5. Tlatelolco is taken at 0 casualties, as is Vitcos also for 0 6. Fiber Optics and Calixtlahuaca is taken for 0 casualties, then Cuzco (also for 0) and finally Mecca for 1 helicopter 7. The only really boring turn, shunting troops around 8. Vilcas taken for a tank. Peace with Inca for one of their cities, gives us time to organise. We take over the barbarian town of Carib near Egypts last city again 0 casualties. 9. Battle of Tenochtitlan begins, Medina is taken for 1 tank. Fission 10. Tenochtitlan is conquered! and we attack Kufah, but alas only with helicopters have to wait to occupy it! I enjoyed the all out war, although I got sick of seeing X taken messages... Here, is the save Go extend our empire! ~Doom Edited March 10, 2008 by TimOfDoom Link to comment
enci 0
Hey Indy, are you able to play your turns? Link to comment
Indy13 5
Ooops. sorry, played them last night but forgot to post it afterwards. Going to write the turnset from my notes now, should only take a couple of minutes. :cha (18): EDIT2: Turn 1 - The city of Kufah is captured. Turn 2 - The cities of Teotihuacan and Texcoco are captured. Situation was getting kinda dull so I decided to spice things up -> I declare war on Cyrus. Turn 3 - Checked the game progress board and noticed that we were getting dangerously close to a domination victory. :cha (18): In order to prevent this I decided to raze all future captured cities. The cities of Arbela and Najran are the first ones to suffer this treatment. Turn 4 - Khurasan is destroyed Turn 5 - Surprisingly nothing much happens... Turn 6 - Tarsus is razed. Turn 7 - Pasargadae is burn to the ground. Turn 8 - Susa and Cehalis suffer the same fate as well. At this point most of the main continent is under our control or lies in rubbles, thus it's time to redirect our armies towards... russians! Sorry Peter, it's time for war! Turn 9 - Swift victories against the russians as Novgorod and Rostov are erased from history. Turn 10 - vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Persepolis all fall in front of our troops. And that's about all for me. Our victory should be definite by now, lots of turns remaining and only a few offshore colonies remaining. Nothing much to say except that one of those colonies is on a one tile island so we'll have to send a transport of marines against it. EDIT1: Here's the savegame for the moment: http://www.mediafire.com/?9lzxmg3ytax Edited March 15, 2008 by Indy13 Link to comment

enci 0
Sry for the delay, Ive been snowed under with school stuff. Loaded the save and saw this: and this: sweeeeeet,I think only challenge remaining is to avoid domination 1988: captured St Pete, Yaroslavl, Sardis 1989: Samaria and other cities I forgot to take notes of 1990: Moscow we’re getting dangerously close to domination btw 1991: Hieraconpolis, Tyre, bryansk 1992: Krasnoyarsk 1993: Yekat 1994: Orenburg 1995: not exactly a nail biting turnset, but here's something to worry about we’re gaining about 0,5% land per turn from border pops cities remaining: the last turn with the last battles: Gentlemen, it’s been a pleasure Edited March 20, 2008 by enci Link to comment

ganto 0
Lol gogo, you got me. I paid 1000$ to get that index Seriously how that is possible I cant even imagine. So many civ forums out there with zillions of threads - too bad google doesnt tell us how they index their pages or can it be that ours is so great:) Link to comment
gogoblender 3,072
There's about thirteen thousand unique visitors here at this site every month. In fact... SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is so good here for DarkMatters...a thread title written up can be hit by spiders and indexed by google scant hours later. Regarding how it made it so high up in the rankings... I think it's because there's so many posts to it on a site that's busy like ours. The two combine, and....voila And hit runaway thread. gogo Link to comment
