yoursoul 0
I was wondering what the drawbacks of a mount are? Is there a reason not to just be mounted all the time (travelling and fighting)? And if there is, does it apply to all characters or can some always be mounted? Thanks Link to comment
inXi 0
1. A big chunk of Combat Arts don't work on mounts. 2. Mounts do not work in dungeons and buildings. Link to comment
Zinsho 0
If you use the special mount from the Unique Mounts quest you can use all your CAs and buffs. The problem with Mounts is that: A) They give your regeneration times a malus B) They don't work in dungeons so you end up losing any benefits of them when you go inside. Link to comment
Antitrust 32
Even special mounts make you attack in a more cumbersome way, at least for some classes or for some combat arts. Link to comment
Mcrat 0
My SW (necro build) stays on his mount at all times. I generally just use standard attack and let my minions and skeletal fort do the damage so it's not that cumbersome for me. One drawback to it - when you walk into a cave, the game automatically dismounts you. However it leaves your mount right at the entrance of the cave. So when you come out and try to get back on it, you just get ported back to the cave. Sometimes it even ports your mount in the cave, and then the game get's all glitchy. Eg, see below Link to comment
Schot 407
For some builds it can be great. A requirement even but for others it can be a serious drawback. A high Elf for example. I find that with a High Elf's Fireball it tends to go over the heads of my opponents while mounted. Something to do with being higher up off the ground I guess. The big one of course is how a mount affects the speed of attacks. I'm kinda thinking that if a build is serious about fighting from a mount that the Riding skill will become a priority. In all truth though I haven't played a lot. Once my game comes in that'll change. Link to comment
yoursoul 0
Can a TG play while mounted? Thanks! Link to comment
Schot 407
If he's on a horse then well.. Not really. While mounted on a horse your battle options are the attacks that comes with the horse and regular left click attacks. Left click attacks would be like shooting your gun or swinging your sword. On the TG's special mount, the Mobiculum, you would be able to use all of the Temple Guardian Combat Arts while on it. Link to comment
stubbie 21
My hybrid seraphim isn't specialising in any one particular combat art type so she took the general special mount. I only use the mount for faster travel. The hit to regen times is quite severe and the build I'm working on needs quick regens in two aspects for her combos. So thats why I dont use the mount much when fighting. Link to comment
Erling 3
and some just dislikes some mounts Link to comment
Knuckles 904
If you take the Riding skill and put enough points into it, the regen malus will actually become a bonus Link to comment
Flooxim 49
If you take the Riding skill and put enough points into it, the regen malus will actually become a bonus That's eactly what I was aiming for when I took my mount. I play a Pyro High Elf and I'm always mounted (I think I'm casting faster, but I think this is just an impression that I have). I'm at 150% casting speed anyway (can't go higher than that). Fighting on my mount is fun, I just have to watch myself when I'm in a cave (I have 1k more hp and 10% more defense when mounted). I tried fighting on my mount with my SW, it was just....weird (in my opinion). I think special mount are better for non-melee characters. Max Link to comment
stubbie 21
If you take the Riding skill and put enough points into it, the regen malus will actually become a bonus As she is currently level 30 and doesn't get another skill choice till level 45 that would suggest that my seraphim was actually going to last for a while longer and not die. gogoblender 3,077
I had found out after about thirty levels into the game that my dryad had significantly slower attack speeds from a mount. There are still times I get off my mount because my kill speed is actually higher unmounted than while on a mount. Course... this balanced out by travelling slower and taking longer to get to all the drops. Ahhh, balancing *sigh* gogo Link to comment
