Popular Post Hooyaah 2,827
"Greetings my friends, this is your hostess Tarellethiel with what has already begun as a rather different report. Not far north of Valeview, lies this most peculiar tavern, The Royal Honky-Tonk. I arrived most late in the day, as dusk was falling upon the land and spoke, did I, to the intriguing human who brews the beer that is consumed by the customers who frequent this place late in the evenings. The Three Winds Winery to the east not only supplies wines and lagers to this tavern but all of the drinking establishments throughout Ancaria" "The lower floor seemed quite ordinary as one might expect a tavern to be, yet the entirety of the establishment was occupied only by two others. I met it's keeper downstairs who would not speak to me in the beginning; it seemed to me that he was pretending to inventory his stock behind the counter. So, after waiting for a rather terse conversation, I ascended the stairs and I was coldly greeted by somewhat of a strange man who I will speak to you about more very soon." "Averting his gaze from me entirely, the tavern's manager mentioned that his establishment was not expected to be busy this night and somehow the moon's cycle had something to do with that fact. I did notice that a full moon was peeking secretively over the winery on the eastern horizon, and I wonder, no, never mind, I am sure that it is nothing important." "The preternatural, tenebrous man I discovered after ascending the creaky steps upward to a lounging area, was curiously disquieting and I believe him to have been running an illegal gambling den in that dusky space. The furnishings were lavish and carefully selected for comfort and you may be assured not for lodging for the night, as it was clear that there were no such accommodations available. The candlelight set an arcane and eerie mood, making me feel unwelcome and verily did set me on edge." "It became quite clear that this nervous, furtive, and conspiratorial human was unnerved by my unexpected visit and that he had been biding his time while awaiting the arrival of some other. Heed my words, for jest I do not, you my beloved followers should not make this place a destination unless there is dire business for you here. I am troubled to end one of my reports with such an abruptness and obscurely defined forewarning. I intend, with all of my desire within, to provide to you anon a lighthearted report, one that shall be of joy and forsooth of entertainment. Please excuse now, my expeditious exit and the lack of a closing salutation dear ones, for I must leave this place and without delay." 3 Link to comment

Schot 407
I think maybe rather than immersed I was a wee bit submerged in the game. That was a pretty creative grave on the Devs part. They tried really hard to find interesting things about every player grave to make them extra personal. Mine was based on a quest I wrote. Which, now that it's brought up, I think I'll update it to include a video. 1 Link to comment

So then, what is the real story as to Gogo's "missing pants" and how did they become mis-placed in the first place? Inquiring minds want to know. Link to comment

I used to rave back then... big all night parties and I posted a pic of me and my friends coming back from one and... sigh., lol...dunno how this happened but through a trick of the camera it looked like I wasn't wearing pants or something. or so the story goes... and this evil poster from the old Sacred International Forum was quick to make the comment and this "story" just kind of stuck. Hooyaah 2,827
"Felicitations dear followers, once again this is your hostess and travel writer, Tarellethiel, here with yet another observation of the inns and taverns and their accommodations within the land of Ancaria. Today we find ourselves in a most relaxing and beautiful seaside burgh, the port city of Urthak's Moxie" "Here we shall explore the interior of a local tavern, the Cuckoo's Nest. Although a bit small inside, it graces us with its warm, local charm and cozy home-like atmosphere. Here, within its walls the locals come together more as friends, dining more as equals, without thought of class, caste, or station, but instead with merely goodwill, peace and camaraderie. There is even a comfortable area in which to repose in the welcoming and spacious room upstairs. Let's go take a quick gander, shall we?" "Indeed, the upstairs area does have ample space for six beds that have enough capacity to sleep two persons comfortably. The amenities are also convenient for storing ones clothes and other possessions and also lend one that comforting sense of being right at home." "What is inside this large edifice? Is it a mansion or simply some sort of business? I have found that the local town-dwelling denizens of the human territories have never faulted me for exploring the interiors of their structures. I seem to have earned the privilege as a heroine, yet I somehow yearn to be something a bit more... perhaps 'friend' is the word of which I am thinking." "Oh my! It appears to be a great hall or some sort or perhaps a 'Nameless Tavern, for there is no sign posted outisde!' There is so much for ones senses to absorb here within its walls. The lovely scent of freshly baked breads and fire-grilled meat, and I believe that my keen nose detects the luscious smell of a meaty vegetable stew! There is also a huge bar in the corner with a fine selection of wine, ales, and liquors. Just see for yourself the vast number of seats available at the long dining table! Gaze on the wealth of meats awaiting meal time and their individual order to be cooked to perfection! Surely this is where the townspeople gather in the evenings to share each other's company as they dine and revel in the midst of their friends and loved ones. I have not forgotten that I may complain that 'I cannot get used to these small towns,' but at times such as this one I cannot help but second guess that sentiment. Somehow, I long to have friends... even... can I begin believe what I am feeling just now... that I could truly wish to be friends with humans?" "Whew, here we find ourselves upstairs in an area made seemingly even larger than the space below, because it has fewer furnishing and it also is so very quiet. I am ever so weary from my endless quests and travels. Surely, no one would care if I were to repose on that cozy berth in yon corner for a brief spell. Fare thee well, dear and loyal fans, I must go for now. Surely, I am in need of a brief rest and I have much thinking and reflection to which I must attend." 1 Link to comment

Bravo on this visit to Ancaria, Geographer!. Its been a while since I've had the luxury to sink into one of these reads, and the lovely details or your story have done much to stimulate the apetite. The Cuckoo's Nest... lol it's only when you actually put the names on post/stories like this do I really get the "value" of what the devs put into this game... and ... lol... the range of different meats on that table is just outstanding! gogo Link to comment

I recall your post and I agree. Even the music playing there is great, actually my favorite in the game. I wish that the same music played on Start Island. As I recall, the only quests there at "The Moxy" are the one to rout the Thraconians at the leper colony, the quest to notify the squad at the outpost to hold tight (when they actually are near being overrun by Kobolds) and the one that is part of the Elite Mount quest to find how to reach the island. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who enjoys visiting Urthak's Moxie! Link to comment
Popular Post Thorin Oakshield 260
Not going to post screenshots, but something I wonder if anyone has ever considered how well the Dev's had thought of the details of this game; being....... The enhancements and the artifacts. Has it ever occured to anyone there's a pattern in the drops of both the enhancements and the artifacts? The first is rather obvious and therefore easily overlooked - Magic pearls: drops from any creature using magic as main attack. In general turtles, desert wariors and the pirates around Blueston lake - Ice Crystals: drops from ghosts and ocassionally; bears and Ogre Shamans - Lava chunk: drops from cratures using firedamage; mostly young dragons and Blood Dryads Poison fang: drops from all poison dealing creatures; being it rats, spiders, scorpions or scarabs As said, pretty obvious. Next batch are the trophy's used for Alchemy, which are obvious too; with the exception of one. - Branch: from tree spitirs at Tyr Laigh ànd the former x-mas trees at X-mas island - Mechanical: from temple guardians in the Wasteland - 4-leave clover: from Kobolds - Skull: from undead and usually from the skelletons - Tooth: from either troll / orcs / goblins (troll tooth) or demons (demon tooth) Now all these are obvious, but this one isn't: Roasted Joint: From any creature killed with a firebased weapon or spell. Meaning, you kill a wolf using Fireball as a Pyro HE and you got a chance it drops a roasted Joint Trophy. You kill a rat as a seraphim using a Sword with a lava chunk smithed in it and you got a chance to have it dropping a Roasted Joint Trophy. As I mentioned elsewhere, it's these kind of things that make me return to the game and enjoy it over and over again. It's the amount of detail you barely see in many games these days anymore.
