  1. Great to see you're getting some practice with the wiki code... now you're ready to head off to one of these projects here: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6064 And dig in! gogo
  2. We've got Schot locked up in a strong room doing site work for us. We're only letting him out sometime in 2010 gogo
  3. reaction to a user form? ooh, can you give us a link? Wow, talk about fighting back! gogo
  4. Was a bit wonky once, but now I get a great login again. gogo
  5. Hey guys! I've been getting a lot of pms from peeps asking where to go as the project picks up more and more peeps every day. Yes it can seem daunting, but remember, there are many people working on this project at the same time. As Frosty says...many hands make light work. Fifteen minutes a day multiplied by a number of people adds up very quickly. So where to go? In the link on the Wiki Index called Improvement Project, the link takes you here: http://darkmatters.org/SacredWiki/index.ph...iki:How_to_help I've copy pasted the writeup I did there to here on this page. Remember...if English isn't your first language...it's okay. We have more than enough great English speakers for whom English is fun, and part of the fun is editing content like that. So don't be shy, go ahead and post, contribute, press submit...and glow at your onscreen content. If you think your syntax or grammar really needs checking...simply make a post here in this section. Before, long, someone will come along to help out. This is the beauty of the wiki. That nothing that ever goes up is perfect. That everything can always, always be polished and improved upon. Gird up, be confident, and just stick it in! After that first one, the next one comes faster, and with your own unique contribution, the energy rises, and enthusiasm for the project remains high and creates synergy. I saw the Tim had added on a single sentence to a CA description. It was enough to make me rethink how I'm going to approach this wiki. Once sentence at a time, is sometimes all the time we have time for...but in a wiki... that's often enough. One Sentence at a time It's fun...just don't think of how much has to be done...but instead the small area you're focusing on and that gives you pleasure. With interested people helping out, it grows, as Claire says...like a magic forest! gogo GuildWiki:Improvement project From SacredWiki Jump to: navigation, search The wiki needs your help, and as stated, with the help of many, many people all doing small contributions a day, it's use as a great database grows and gets better. So you're looking for ways to help? Here's how. 1-Armor Class Templates were created by Csaszar: They need filling in , and if you have a particular set item, it's just a matter of picking out the specific data that the template asks for and fitting it in. 2-Combat Arts Pictures: If you're more the paparazzi type and find the camera more your thing, look for specific Combat Arts descriptions that need a picture. Examples of this would be the Vampiress which so far has no pictures added to it yet, and is could use some help. 3.Combat Arts Descriptions: Ayup...the manual has a few lines...but personal insight and comparisons of a Combat Art to others, for example, gives readers that extra content they crave. As well..monsters that particular Combat Arts are good against, chosen areas, and tricks regarding great regens are always interesting for everyone to read up on. 4-Character Descriptions: Yes, we know the manual has a few lines, but...c'mon...this is a wiki...with you here...surely there are more things that can be added to the Descriptions which will give them that extra special touch? Frosty has done a great contribution with the Vampire description...check it out to get some ideas on how you can flesh out your very own contribution to this wiki and make your mark forever. 5-Unique Items: There are thousands of these, and each one of them needs a pic plus writeups. A great after bath or during breakfast activity! 6-Attributes: So far empty and crying out for help. 7-Patches and Expansion: We are sorely in need of a good write-up for all the patches and expansions for the game. Any very good experts that could help out with this? All this and much more...contribute today, and win a free hug
  6. what the heck is that...a mouse? lol, just realized it is...for a sec, because of the angle of the pic, I thought it was some sort of old schoo star trek communicator gogo p.s. I'm a fan of the logitech mousies...quality stuff.
  7. Timo, that's great! how did you get the trouble ironed out? Did you write them lots and lots of nasty letters? gogo
  8. put it up NOW ... c'mon...how much do we have to beg you....for the love of d.a.r.k! gogo p.s. that shield is awesome
  9. Welcome aboard Tim! And (foof) I've just finished entering all the Combat Arts into a new Category which can be found at the bottom of every Combat Art Description. http://darkmatters.org/SacredWiki/index.php5/Blazing_Disc 138 entries later...job done, and now the wiki spins out all Combat Arts according to alphabetical order. Nice for peeps who find a combat art and then just want to look up the page for it fast. gogo
  10. Some sort of absolute built into the code? a papers scissors kind of thing...where paper ALWAYS beats rock? And no number of rocks can take out paper? gogo
  11. wow, I'm so behind on this, lol....just a bunch of level two's across the board. Gotta get on those nanites I guess...that speed is great gogo
  12. heheh, good purchase you made Erling...join up in the fun. I'd like to ask, where did you get just underworld from... gogamer.com? I'm always looking to find online stores that sell just Underworld. And is your game English or Norwegian? Cheers...you must be at 100% by now... GAME ON gogo
  13. Interesting. What's the cheapest ship that won't... "bounce" off a rip? gogo
  14. LOL! ahhh. maybe ^^ But...just looking at the way the band was performing...at her height, her over exagerated largesse ...I couldn't help to wonder how someone like that keeps a very good secondary presence. And it got me to thinking about the whole concept of being a backup anything. Yes we know they are needed...but how would you feel as a backup singer? I mean..is that what you wanted to grow up to be...a backup singer...rather than Madonna? Don't you think that part of the girl who always wanted to be Madonna...would try to break out and be the star? Oh well..strange, late night thoughts... gogo
  15. Well...are they? I mean in a concert, for instance. I was just watching an elo dvd that my friend gave me...the Zoom one. And in it Jeff Lyne, is singing...and this gorgeous blond girl is slightly behind him and doing the backups. Jeff Lyne, has a great voice and he's the star...but wouldn't it be so easy for the backup singer to just "shine" more and out star the star? Do you think pro backup singers are purposefully coached to NOT stick out...to remain in the background? Kind of goes against human nature, right? I mean you're on a stage...and you want to connect to the peeps...but the JOB..is to stay in the background. More than anything, along with the huge voice talent a backup singer needs...they also have to know how to keep their place. Right? gogo
  16. It's a very powerful seasoning. It was invented to replicate one of the human tongue's tastes...umami...the protein tooth. There has been conjecture that the sweet tooth helps us find carbohydrates, which the brain needs. Our ability to distinguish very powerful bitter or salty to keep us safe from poison. It's the the fifth taste, the one that makes us crave meats (the taste receptors finally being identified here) ...the protein tooth...which leads us to cheese, really well cooked spaghetti sauces, red wines, wild meats. There was an umami restaurant that opened up in New York a few years ago where everything had an extra umamiish taste...brought about by natural slow cooking. I read another story somewhere where some japanese wine tasters had come to America and kept asking their American colleagues to identify this particular "taste". Up to that point, only salty, sweet, bitter and no taste existed. Enter Umami. Enter MSG. This thread's making me drool...you guys look away okay...just gotta reach into my cupboard... gogo p.s. got any extra leftover Sil...
  17. Heya Funki! Yes, we have huge warnings above buffet tables in chinese restaurants all saying no msg in big bold letters. As well, msg warnings must by law be on food. I had forgotten that I had a bottle of this stuff from so long ago and was using it to bring out the savory fllavors in dishes. My friend's wife has a huge negative response to msg and so we all have to be careful when doing potlucks and stuff. Lucky....I'm okay with this salt substitute, and so, it seems, is my family. Whew! gogo
  18. heh, that happens to me too. I get super busy with a game, then get back to our forum here, then after a while, delve in hard. It also depends on finding a good toon or character and giving myself the challenge to see if I can get to what I've set down for my objectives. Some time off always helps, EM...but don't forget to come back here and post, okay...your contributions to the community are always great to read and you really do put your best into them...it shows and is appreciated. Our new site is also getting put together by anyone that wants to contribute and add to it. Maybe this could be a kind of different sort of sacred fun to try out while still meeting up with the gang? gogo
  19. Ahh, perfect I've helped by editing into the title of your topic the name of the game you're applying for. Hopefully this will have more of the vendetta posters come here to read it and get to know you. A Vendetta Game Captain should be along shortly to help you out. Good luck with the posts, and check out our intro section for great threads to get to know the community on. Good luck! gogo
  20. Hi there Nny Welcome back to DarkMatters. We actually sponsor a number of games here. Could you please tell us which of our games you are applying for? As well, you'll need a minimum number of posts, in which to get to know the community and win two nominations. There's a walkthrough on what's needed to get into a sponsored clan here, so take a look and have fun. Cheers gogo
  21. Just did some reading on msg...fascinating! Taken from: http://www.glutamate.org/media/glutamate.htm The First Steps At the beginning of the twentieth century, Professor Kikunae Ikeda of Tokyo Imperial University was thinking about the taste of food: "There is a taste which is common to asparagus, tomatoes, cheese and meat but which is not one of the four well-known tastes of sweet, sour, bitter and salty." It was in 1907 that Professor Ikeda started his experiments to identify what the source of this distinctive taste was. He knew that it was present in the "broth" made from kombu (a type of seaweed) found in traditional Japanese cuisine. Starting with a tremendous quantity of kombu broth, he succeeded in extracting crystals of glutamic acid (or glutamate). Glutamate is an amino acid, and is a building block of protein. Professor Ikeda found that glutamate had a distinctive taste, different from sweet, sour, bitter and salty, and he named it "umami". 100 grams of dried kombu contain about 1 gram of glutamate. A New Product Professor Ikeda decided to make a seasoning using his newly-isolated glutamate. To be used as seasoning, glutamate had to have some of the same physical characteristics which are found, for example, in sugar and salt: it had to be easily soluble in water but neither absorb humidity nor solidify. Professor Ikeda found that monosodium glutamate had good storage properties and a strong umami or savoury taste. It turned out to be an ideal seasoning. Because monosodium glutamate has no smell or specific texture of its own, it can be used in many different dishes where it naturally enhances the original flavor of the food. gogo p.s. yeah yeah I know it's spin..but isn't it so interesting? I'm just happy I have no adverse reactions to the stuff. It's not as coarse in my throat as salt...and boy does it ever taste good!
  22. The first Alien was possibly one of the scariest movies ever made. It was the first time I'd seen something coming out of a human. Enough to set me up with nightmares long afterward. Nice one there Frosty. And yeah....Exorcist... still scary. gogo
  23. oooh, imbibing...yes, let's all imbibe to Zinsho's welcome! *scampers off to meet up with Gene, Zinsho and the rest at the bar* gogo
