  1. It was very good, and so was the sequel. I couldn't get them running right on Windows 7 though.
  2. No, no, I believe you. But doesn't every character seem to have a video or story like that? "Watch as I use <super-powered combat art> to kill <mega boss> in a matter of seconds!" Well I'll hold off making authoritative comments about the Dryad's power and just stick with "I'm not enjoying her much."
  3. Not far. Level 50, silver. I wasn't using this build in particular when I made my first comment. I was just trying to maximize any spellcasting abilities the Dryad had. Twisted Torment, low damage. Viperish disease, low damage, not affected by any skills. Edaphic lances, slow execution, extremely narrow effect, low damage. Tangled vine and black curse I changed my mind about. They are great for bosses. The buffs and temp buffs are still great. Acute mind makes a magic staff in a Dryad's hands a lethal weapon. The only spell that really leaves is the Totem. And yeah, I tried a test build level. 200 character with good gear and it was a good offensive spell. The journey to getting there was not too fun though. So I won't say this build is bad, or Dryad is bad. But every other caster outshines the Dryad with killing power of spells.
  4. Really, there's nothing like them. The closest things (that are out now) would probably be Titan Quest or Divinity Series (Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity, Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga). On a lower tier you would have Silverfall, Loki, or Legend: Hand of God. Kivi's Underworld and Din's Curse are overlooked action RPG's on a somewhat lower budget. Similarly, Torchlight was ok but you're stuck in a dungeon the entire time. Gothic series and Elder Scrolls series are AAA RPG's with big open worlds, but now we're straying pretty far from Sacred.
  5. I bought Sacred 2 Gold box version but I could never get it to install. It always hung indefinitely after requesting the 2nd disk. I tried everything under the sun to get it to install, but no luck. So I have the box just sitting on the shelf, and I play a downloaded version with no problems whatsoever. I've had maybe a handful of crashes with hundreds of hours of playing.
  6. I love going on werewolf killing sprees for their high xp, however the problem is that everywhere there are werewolves, there are spitting/weaving spiders. Southeast swamp is doubly a pain in the butt because of olms with rooting spells and DoT traps. So I guess I would balance the math with the enjoyment of the battle. Not sure what spot I would pick with that in mind.
  7. Wardust thank you again for more music help! By default it seems like all you hear is battle music, so I disabled it in custom options. But I still wanted battle music sometimes for the bosses and hard fights, so this is perfect solution! EDIT: ...well it seems like changing the value to zero sometimes just creates silence instead of the battle music. But still a great thing.
  8. Thanks for sharing this. I use many of the songs, and it also showed me how to mod the music myself with my own choices!
  9. I'm totally underwhelmed with the Dryad's abilities as a spellcaster. Cabalistic Voodoo and Nature Weaver aspects are not much good for killing either mobs or bosses. The Combat Arts seem just plain not useful with the exception of the buffs/castable buffs and tangled vine. The only aspect that has some power behind it seems to be Capricious Hunter, and even then, it takes a blowpipe (or magic staff) and modding Darting Assault before you can take out mobs with any kind of efficiency.
  10. This rocks my socks. I used it to remove the bronze mod on the Dragon Mage's familiar that causes the bug with mentor potions and statues. I'm so glad I found this. Would be happier if I had found it before I spent an hour trying to edit my save with the hex-editor method though.
  11. Thank you this worked quite well! I got tired of hitting the level cap before I was done in an area. Of course, all mobs everywhere will always be your level (or higher). So be careful.
  12. Thanks I'm keeping up with this and other issues on the bugtracker page now. Also, I circumvented my level cap issue with the Guardians by just removing the area level caps in my balance.txt file.
  13. Desert Saber is another high damage one, plus two gold sockets.
  14. Oh, that's right you're playing on X-Box. Whew. I thought everyone was sending you blindly into a death-trap, telling you to go to the south-east swamp in Niobium with a level 65 character. You do NOT mess with spitting spiders with the expansion installed. They are the most brutal mobs to encounter with their poison spit.
  15. That's it, delivering the message to Mer-Kil is the end of personal questline.
  16. I ran across this picture of a random sculpture featuring a warrior on a monstrous horse, and I immediately thought of the Dragon Mage riding his Draconicon. Doesn't it remind you of that?
  17. Make that three. Now someone just needs to find a Legendary magic relic.
  18. Thanks for making this mod. I like it quite a bit.
  19. Dual wield=lots of sockets. The damage of two weapons and the attack speed will equal or surpass the killing effectiveness of any two-hander, plus you've got the extra sockets. Also, you can mix and match a large number of unique and legendary swords, hafted weapons, or even staves, if that suits you. On the other hand, Shadow Warrior is the only character who can use two handed hafted weapons, and there are some powerful ones out there. The mods unlocked by hafted weapons skill and mastery are good too, like disregard armor, deadly wounds, and deep wounds. Two handed swords, meh, not so much. I probably hold them in the lowest regard of all weapons in Sacred 2. But still, they're not bad or "wrong" for any build. Do what suits you. About killing quickly, my main Shadow Warrior wields only a one-handed hafted weapon w/ shield, and using frenzied rampage, every enemy dies with one "bonk!"
  20. BM is my fave in the S1 franchise but if you'll look to the Ice and Blood update the battle mage is already incorporated into the dragonmage. I know, I find it weird when people don't acknolwedge this. The high elf got almost all the battle mage's combat arts, the dragon mage got what was left over. Here's my take on it: Battle Mage = High Elf: Fireball= Ancestral fireball (Battle Mage's is much cooler though - ROAARRR!! vs. fiiisst-poof!) Flameskin= Incandescent skin Fire Spiral/Purgatory= Blazing tempest Meteor storm= Incendiary shower Phase shift= Shadow step Ice shards= Glacial thorns Lightning strike= Cobalt strike Ghost Meadow/Reiki= Grand invigoration Water Form= Cascading shroud Ring of Ice= Raging Nimbus Circle of Fear/Shield Wall= Expel Magic Battle Mage = Dragon Mage: Gust of Wind= Gust of Wind Whirlwind= Tornado Stoneskin= Runes of Protection What's missing are Cataract of Agility (+ to attack rating, attack and run speed, pretty much all of the other classes in Sacred 2 have some form of this), Spiritual Healing (Seraphim and Dryad have this), and Petrification. Now, granted, the battlemage personality with all his sarcastic coolness was completely missing from Sacred 2. Dragon Mage kind of tries to recapture this, and he is probably my favorite personality in Sacred 2, along with Temple Guardian ("I cannot bleed.")
  21. Done. That was easy. Also added download buttons for the Gemmae and 3 or 4 more of the community patch sets uploaded by dropmod. It's only a temp job as a law clerk so the angst probably isn't over yet, only temporarily allayed.
  22. Sleep? Nah. Two more weeks before my new job starts, I gotta do SOMETHING to pass the time. Moved Gartor the turtle king to Community Patch Bosses and described how to locate him. Speaking of the Community Patch, the pages for the Sigils are up!
