X-MAS items are starting to show up on the closed servers - I found a glad item last night in silver HC. Hope they're not bugged again this year.

Also, if you play closed net MP, your characters are saved on the servers, so as long as you keep your account, they will remain. Unless Ascaron begins cleaning up old, idle accounts (I don't think they do that yet).

What's the weather like over there?
gial replied to tomi's topic in The Daily Grind: Real life right here!
Minnesota, USA -- High today -3 F (about -19 C) brrrr 3 inches of snow last night - very slick roads today. Many accidents in rush hour -
Wheee! What a welcome time. Kami today was really great. Looking forward to a silver next week. Made 13 levels today in the 2 hours. Gogo, Schot, and all, you need to come back -- even if for just a single reunion session -- maybe a level one blowout after the new year.

Just got back from my vacation and was looking forward to the kami this week -- until I noticed that somehow my lady is in softcore. Not sure how it happened -- every notation I've ever seen indicates the need for life leech after death to resurrect -- and I have none. If you're up to level 100, I can play my vamp. Otherwise, I've some serious catching up to do. Thus, I voted reset. (But don't count it if you've a quorum at gold.)

I hope the upcoming sessions are good ones -- wish I could make it but I'll be traveling for the next 3 weeks. I'll peek in when I get home mid Dec.

Who's the bleep now ?
gial replied to promatolya's topic in Key Largo Beach Resort and General Discussion
Perhaps, gogo, you missed prom's main point -- the teachers do not have to put up with him -- he's not there! (hehe) Even so, prom, taking a class in what you already know is a waste of time for you. If the option is available, you should take an opt-out exam and move on to more difficult classes. At the very least, go to class, ask questions, and help both yourself and your classmates (and your profs, too?) learn more. I coasted through many classes at university -- and I much regret it now. It set a bad precedent for me; I've never reached my potential, because I haven't tried enough. -
well, we ran a bit - took 2 dragons. Mouse click problem, so I exited and tried to re-enter. Game is gone. Sorry Dave, I cant get back

Since Blade Combat is a weapon specific skill, I think you answered you own first question. As to the second, only one weapon specific skill applies with any weapon -- the weapon descriptioin will indicate whether "Blade Combat" or "Sword Lore" applies.

Looks like you have "tears" of support, not tiers. To me, it sounds like a load of bs they have about not being able to fix it on the weekend. -
Welcome to the other side of Propagation!
gial replied to Schot's topic in Forum Changes, Feedback and How to Reach us Live
Too many comedians here . . . but I'm afraid the propagation must not have worked . . . everything still looks the same -
I hit a couple speedbumps tonight, too. And I use Win 2k with no software firewall, either. Gogo, I remember when your hoster updated, and it seems to me that you went from http://www.darkmatters.org to http://darkmatters.org as well. There was an issue with several browsers automatically trying to stick in the nasty little www as well.

Read any good books lately?
gial replied to Lord of the North's topic in Key Largo Beach Resort and General Discussion
Just recently discovered the writer Ian MacDonald. Read "Brasyl" and "River of Gods". Very different takes on quantum computing and AI issues. Highly recommend both. -
The last time I played sp, you could socket the undead skulls. The lost combat art, however, is of no utility.

Have you ever really pumped Seraphim's Bolts spell?
gial replied to Silearth's topic in Sacred Isle Of Thoughts
Sil -- you can "bend" the rules with the Fad axe if you have dual wield -- put 2 rings in one fad and the third in the other; oversocketing the axe lore requirement in both. You'll get the full bonus from both axes -
I haven't played sc in a long time, but if I recall correctly, when you are on closed internet - e.g. Ascaron hosted, if you create an sc toon, it reanimates after death. Same security as HC, I believe. The only problem is the sc toons share the same slots as hc, so every softcore uses up a potential hc position.

Sorry, I downloaded some new connectivity software my work required in order to log in from home. Naturakky, it is broken, so I'm on a loaner laptop and, alas, no Sacred. Looks like at least 1 more week absent for me. Wish I could be there. And I'll really need to boost that seraphim - she's still level 5 after not playing the last couple weeks. Later, all

Diabolic Sacralism
gial replied to promatolya's topic in Key Largo Beach Resort and General Discussion
I hate to sound opportunistic, but practicality dictates buying the first game that hits the shelves. They'll all be great, I expect. Why wait any extra time?
