  1. thanks guys ya I think im gonna start from a new one can I ask what do u guys think is the fastest race to level up if there is one thanks? fastest grinders... from my poor experience, I would say : in order of kill-speed : 1 - Pyro HE (blazing tempest mob rampage) 1 ex - Astute Inquisitor (clustering maelstrom/levin array combo mob rampage) 2 - Viperish Disease Dryad (though... I got to test it really) 3 - Celestial Revered seraphim (Radiant magnetic pillar+nova mob rampage) in order of survivability potential : 1 - Celestial Revered seraphim (Energy Shield FTW, really versatile build.) 2 - Pyro HE (can rely on bargaining and Enhanced Perception without sacrifying too much fire power a.k.a The art of napalm-sweeping the land / pick up loots / rince / repeat) 3 - Astute/Nefarious Inquisitor (hope you like spanks, I still got a sore bottom from a 25 kobold encounter ! Not as easy as pyro he as you need 2 lores and 2 focus to shine, and you can't take Enhanced perception to help getting some stuff. But when he unleashes his combos, that's pure fun !) Viperish Dryad is out of race for lack of testing ! My 2 cents again.
  2. Hi there, dear mates. Does anyone know when the ladder is updated. I created 2 online toons one week ago, and they don't show up in my profile or in the rankings. How often is it updated ? Thanks in advance Cheers.
  3. If you're playing in campaign mode, as soon as you complete the main quest (finish the whole campaign), you'll be able to start again in silver difficulty. If you're playing free game mode, you should be able to create/join a silver game right now (silver is reachable at clvl 20 if my memory doesn't fool me). Creating a new char directly in silver mode is a possibility but you'll lose your 35 level made so far. And my 2 cents. Always start in silver for your next toons, much more challenging. Cheers
  4. I think it's time for you to update your graphic board drivers. Hope it helps. Make sure Directx is properly set up. Could you please tell us what graphic card you got ? Cheers Nihi
  5. Hi there, Here's how I'll define myself for the Roster. My Profile on Sacred 2.net Cheers.
  6. Hi there. Even if it's not purely Sacred 2-related, here's a lil tip to help you increase the performance (read FPS) if you're running Sacred 2 with a crappy CG Card. I doesn't do any miracle regarding the cpu or the memory usage, but can make you gain some FPS, getting from unplayable to almost playable (and by the way, more enjoyable). Why... why in the hell would I write such a guide. First of all, because everybody here can't afford a GTX285, or because sometimes (my case) your CG Card burns out and you must use a spare one (you know that ol' crappy one you saved from your previous PC) because it takes forever to have it fixed. Well now, into the tip, and you'll see the intro is almost longer than the tip itself, but that's because I got italian roots, and by the way, I just can't stop chatting. Hopefully, as I type this tip on my keyboard, I can't move my arms and hands as every italian do when speaking lol. BEWARE, HERE COMES THE BIG BAD TRIP... TIP ! So, you want to play Sacred 2 on your nice E8400 dual core with a nice set of CORSAIR RAM. You got that wonderful 700W Power supply, your Blu-Ray drive awaiting you, nice fans emitting that soft blue light you love in a wonderful sound, like a feline animal being hugged. And, last but not least, all these "dream settings of the gods" (any S1 veterans here ?) are assisted by that crappy RADEON X300 CG Board... that sucks. Best you can do is running 10 FPS, ordering you not to go out of sloeford cause more than 5 kobolds results in instant freeze and death. PART 0 : Sacred 2 Settings Of course you already turned all the graphical options to the minimum. Deactivated all the bonus options (meteo, anti-aliasing...). Turning off the sound may help, but I haven't tested it yet, but set the comments to the rarest possible setting (don't know if they can be turned off). How will sound options increase the frame rate. Crappy card = more cpu and ram used to handle graphics so Disabling sound increase frame rate ! Well what's next. VIDEO CARD DRIVER FTW ! PART 1 : CG Card Driver For ATI cards, have a look at the systray (near the clock), and right-click the ATI Icon. Go to the Expert settings and shoot all the sliders to the performance level. Check if antialiasing is off (or switch it to "match application setting", as Sacred 2 anti aliasing is off...). Disable every video (DVD/Movie playback) optimization. In a few words. Go for all performance in Sacred 2 Settings AND in the driver settings. You can apply this tip to NVidia cards of course, even if I don't know right now how to reach the driver settings. My memory suggests that there's an icon in the systray, and AFAIR, you can access via the NVidia icon in the Control Panel. What else ? (kicks George's butt away) PART 2 : Resident... no not evil... resident processes. Go to the systray again, expand it if needed and check for the resident tools/progs/buggers. Open Office quick launch, office quick launch, quicktime tray, daemon tools tray, webcam tray, hp background updater, java updater, adobe updater... right-click --> close. Not enough ? ok ! CTRL-ALT-DEL-->Task manager--> Processes Kill every unneeded process (beware not to kill the system processes like explorer svchost...). If you have a HP Scan/printer/MFP (multi function printer), the driver loads a lot of processes into the memory (almost always hp<something>.exe I.E. hp04upd.exe). PART 3 : Ghost in the .... shell... no in the kernel Some progs tends to stay in memory even after closing them. Outlook is the all-time winner , followed by... Firefox in the lastest versions. kill the processes in the task manager as well (outlook.exe, firefox.exe, winword.exe cause it's automatically launched with outlook if you checked the "use word as editor" option in outlook). PART 4 : And what else ? If, after doing that all, you still can't play, there're 2 last tricks depending on the reason you had to follow this tip. Trick 1 - Your card is gone fishing at the local pond, hoping to get some food for tonight's dinner : PATIENCE. It'll be back soon. Get yourself a life while waiting. You may meet some new friends you could borrow the high-end PC from ! Trick 2 - Your X300 is your only card, you're not waiting for a better one to get back : TELEPHONE. Well, 2 numbers available : 555-SANTACLAUS or 555-OLDTAUNT. Just follow the perfect nephew rules for the second one : - soft lovely perfect boy/girl voice. - take news of the 3 cats, 7 dogs, 11 birds and optionnally of her. - promise you'll go shopping for her so that she can stay at home relaxing a bit, saving her back, knees and everything. Don't forget to keep a part of the change... - kiss goodbye even if she hasn't shaved her beard ! - repeat the process one or two weeks long, alternating between phone calls and visits. Once done : ask for some bucks pretending you'll need it for your PC to be powerful enough for the college/university or to make a wonderful video of the last family dinner. In case she doesn't know what a computer is, pretend you need the money to get your car fixed or something that suits your taunt's psychology. Once the money in your wallet : go buy your CG Card, install, run Sacred 2, close your room's door, get epileptic thanks to lightning meteo effects, forget your old taunt, and your social life ! If you need a brand new whole PC, two options : more visits for a bigger pouch or even more visits and hope for a good rank when she'll leave her will. (how cynical I can be... @MODS : delete if not suitable lol) DONE That's how I manage to have Sacred 2 playable, with some pain to handle big mobs, but playable enough to kill some foes and do shopping sessions. Any time spent even at the shop is time that isn't lost. AHAHAHAHAH A TIP IN THE TIP If you don't want to start the process killing process over and over, make a command file. This works for XP, haven't tried it on Vista. What's a command file ? It's a plain text file named with a .cmd extension instead of .txt. In this .cmd file you'll add the following commands. taskkill /f /im <processname> exit for example, to kill firefox, outlook and winword type : taskkill /f /im firefox.exe taskkill /f /im outlook.exe taskkill /f /im winword.exe exit Right click on the desktop, new --> text file --> type code --> save as "prockill.cmd" (type the " in the file name input field so that notepad gets rid of the .txt extension and only call it prockill.cmd instead of prockill.cmd.txt). The icon will now look like a window with a gear in it, instead of a written paper sheet, meaning the extension is good. If it is not, you'll have to rename the file by suppressing the .txt extension and leaving only the .cmd extension. If the .txt extension doesn't show up, you'll have to look into the display options of windows. Open an explorer window (for example My Docs) go to tools --> folder options --> display tab --> uncheck "hide known extensions" (may some english windows user check if the path I gave is right, this sounds like the best match regarding to my french version of XP) If one of these programs is not in the running processes, the matching "taskkill" command will run but with no effect, so don't worry about that. "exit" command automatically close the command prompt window at the end of the execution of the command file. Thanks for reading........ [edited for typos] [edited : added cmd file tip] [edited : added some stuff here and there, corrected some typos, got some coffee and a cigarette, face-palmed myself reading how stupid I was] [edited : thanks for moving to the right section]
  7. Heya Gogo and thanks for the offer. I'm already trying to decipher the basics. Oh and for the wiki, as long as I don't find any new tricky thing to add, I'll have a look at the french translation. As for the runes/gold/mount. That will be ok for some next toon. I want the first one to live and grind on his own, and discover the game to its real potential, not with a ubertoon Right now HC is 10/15 FPS (read 10/15 toon death by second). Yeah HC is a deadly mode lol I also have a prog to code... I think I'll start with that, until my CG Card comes back. Remember when I said I couldn't really find a char who fitted my needs except maybe the seraphim and the high-elf... I just fell in love with the buckethead Inquisitor lol. Clustering massive mobs just reminds me the ol' good time when my poison/tentacle daemon cleared the gob-lawn. I just miss the split mod to feed my appetite ! At work right now too, I'll check the lobby maybe tonight to say hello to the [D.a.r.k]s. Cya [EDIT] updated my avatar to fit to Sacred 2
  8. B-day is birthday, and beer-day o'course, so... Happy B-Day Dobri.
  9. Hi there, I live in Tours, France, and Tours is here Cheers.
  10. Ok mates, I'm in, account Nihilith on EU servers. Don't play online right now cause of CG card issues, but I'll join you soon. I just created 2 chars (1 in SC et 1 in HC) and I realized the stash is shared between the modes... I think this feature makes the HC mode less... heroic as you can farm items with a SC char... just my 2 cents. Anyway, I tried SC just to see if it was playable atm, and it's not. Check for [D.a.r.k] Nihilith in HC and Nihilith [D.a.r.k] in SC sometimes, maybe I'll be wandering near sloeford to get some runes. OH... Soul Reaper is well fed with a Clustering Maelstrom + Levin Array combo and this rocks, mates... poor kobies ! Can't wait to join the party... Cheers. Nihilith
  11. saved it in case this disappears. ask for them and I'll pm if needed.
  12. OMG. Ascaron didn't find the way to AI.... dumb npc are dumb npc... Ancarian people are just... simple-minded, deaf and blind. This hasn't changed since S1, and won't. [EDIT to avoid double post] installation : ok patch download : ok patch file checking : takes forever... [NEW EDIT] Ok mates, I'm in, account Nihilith on EU servers. 13. As soon as I get my CG card back, Erling, I'll roam in Ancaria with you Hi Nihilith, We haven't met in game, but like you I fell in love with S1 and took my time picking up Sacred 2. I know you have the game now, so you'll be able to form your own opinions on it, which I'm interested in reading, but I thought I might throw my own thoughts in here. First off I miss S1:UW, the dwarf in particular, as he really appealed to me. Taken on it's own merits Sacred 2 is a great game. It's game world is immense, and the monster population is huge. The number of builds you can come up with is staggering, but what keeps me playing is the sense of humor with the game. My last quest is a prime example of the humor, I was hired by a gardener in one of the main citys to kill 'bunnies'. Yep that's right, cute, cuddly and adorable rabbits. I ran round with my High Elf nuking them with Incendiary Shower a CA that rains down meteors from the sky. I can't remember a time when I laughed so hard or had so much fun with a game. Bug wise, having fully patched the game and solely playing in SP mode, the only bug I've run into is a memory leak that crashes the game when you save and exit it after a long play session. Some people complain about the game being too easy, something that the dev's fixed in the upcoming expansion pack. I hope you have as much fun with Sacred 2 as I am having. Regards Raven Hi Raven and thanks for sharing your opinion about Sacred 2. Bunny quest... that reminds me S1 when you start off with a brand new Battle Mage in SP. You have to defeat a creature in a place surrounded by stones. Once dead, you click a monolith (or something like that) and it spawns rabbits. Can't remember if they're agressive or if you must have a "kill animal" item but you can spawn millions of them and toast'em to your convenience. Aren't the people complaining about ease playing cookie-cutter builds ? S1 was damn easy also, but trying to get a "unique" char through niob was a real challenge. Ease is the result of laziness. Fun is the result of creativity. And by buying Sacred 2, I think I knocked at the right door. Cheers
  14. As soon as I get my CG card back, Erling, I'll roam in Ancaria with you
  15. Ok, just got my copy of Sacred 2. Will install and patch it tonight, and get a first glance at solo campaign mode, as my CG Card isn't back right now and I may have some freaky lag issues in multi. Imagine Ancaria, with cubes instead of grass... lots of cube, I can't event see the items on the floor (niether my seraph's legs... but well I'm running the demo, maybe it will be more playable with the full release). So to all the officers here, I have a question. May you allow me to wear my [D.a.r.k] tag again after such a long time ? I can't play with.... Cheers
  16. I would have bet all I got on this answer from you Gogo roflol just bought Sacred 2 today, not even installed right now, but I'm sure I'll miss : my poison ring/tentacle splitter Daemon my FS/DS Fadalcheese glad (700FS, level 360 DS) my Chick a Boom Boom (pure BFG seraphim, no buff) and my Rabbit glad (Stomping Jump, stomping jump, with a nice 2 handed axe in hand)
  17. So do I, even if I can't play closed HC, I can connect to open net. Cheers
  18. Heya Erling I don't try to overspawn, and so far I know how to do it. I just tried to find a way to enter and exit as far as possible, not to overspawn but to waste as less time as possible. And so far, you can respawn the area half a screen away from the entrance, just by jumping into the cave, and in only one move, you're already out so the area is full again. You can also stand in the entrance and jump without moving, this works. This works also at the south exit of the orc cave. You kill, jump-respawn, kill, rinse repeat. This way I don't waste time running to the stairs, getting out, then in,and as we all know, getting in and out the orc cave by this entrance is a little tricky, your char goes around the stairs half the time. I can kill twice the monsters I did before. Combined with my high level DS, the monsters die in one tick of DS (gold difficulty), except the bosses, so as soon as the area is filled, the close foes die by the time you get down the stairs to loot the corpses and even without moving : Jump-respawn, wait, check the drops, jump-respawn, wait, check, only move if a drop is worth the journey Of course, as I was encoding the vid, my comp lagged a bit and this ended with a nice overspawn of the spiders. 4 spiders just at the exit... and 3 pieces of set as a result
  19. an armchair What's the name of the mother of the 7 dwarves in Snowhite ?
  20. Hi mates I got a question relative to item modifiers. I saw that "Quetzal's First strike" bonuses depend on Sword Weapons and Sword Mastery. Quetzal's First Strike on the Wiki Does it mean that 2 bonus are activated by taking Sword Weapons Skill and that the 2 remaining are when Sword Weapons skill hits 75 ? If so, does this 2 last bonuses scale if you put more than 75 hard points (or by socketing +skills rings). Or are they just triggered by mastering SW Skill and don't scale afterwards. Cheers
  21. Cos' I decided so Where in time is Carmen San Diego ? (anytime old gamers here ?)
