  2. "Why is everything blue? Kate Hawley: That's Kaiju blood. Giant monsters have a crap load of giant blue blood in them. And it gets everywhere. The entire world is starting to turn blue. One particular scene set on Belcher street in Hong Kong is basically swimming in Indigo dye because of the seepage of monster blood." http://www.movieweb.com/news/pacific-rim-set-visit-guillermo-del-toro-talks-creating-an-epic-monster-battle
  3. That's a 10 month old thread... I wonder what newer info is available.
  4. Excellent thought Delta! But similar to what Chattius mentioned, we have an organization called Meals on Wheels that delivers to home-bound seniors. I should have thought to list that as taken already.
  5. It will be a wide variety of food, rather than a specialty truck. One day it might serve soup at a senior center, the next it might serve sack lunches to kids at a housing complex, the next it might sell food at a food truck gathering. Nutrition will be an important factor. My boss likes the NOW acronym for "nutrition on wheels", so feel free to work that in.
  6. My favorite that I need to submit is: Lettuce Eat NOW (Nutrition on Wheels) (For the non-English fluent, "lettuce eat" sounds like "let us eat".)
  7. https://www.facebook.com/cfbeo?v=app_79458893817 The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is buying a food truck! It will mainly be used to feed meals to children and senior citizens in low income areas. But it may get used a couple times per month as a regular food truck (ie, selling food to paying customers). So put on those thinking caps, click the link above and post as many names as you can think of! It might be a silly name or a play on words or an acronym. Feel free to share your ideas here as well so the rest of us can get inspired. If you'd rather not post them on Facebook yourself, post them here and ask me to submit it for you. Edit: oh, and the deadline is June 30th, so get busy! I will tell you that "stone soup" is already out because of a local charity starting a food kitchen by that name. https://www.facebook.com/cfbeo?ref=ts#!/photo.php?fbid=10151625427314509&set=pb.92368229508.-2207520000.1371588488.&type=3&theater
  8. Added official warner brothers youtube link to the top post.
  9. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10102354395589186 edit: Here it is on youtube:
  10. Roughtly what % does the alpha playable area represent of the total playable area in the game? Why did they nerf drops so harshly between build 8 and now? My 2 most recent toons have not seen a single blue and only a couple greens. We can't test what we can't get.
  11. A couple I have... What is plan for max player level? (impacts long term skill planning given 3 skill points per level, takes 50 points for highest level plus all the points in the various skills) On the options menu, there's one about locking item pickup. Is that for multi-player to control whether others can see/pickup your drops or something else? Armor tool tip shows breakdown by slot. Are they planning to add similar tool tip summaries for other stats. Like for damage (by type of damage) "Fire: x-y + z%" And I ought to post this one over at the GD forum but have they thought about drastically cutting the cost to respec skill points just for the alpha (maybe early beta)? Given the hours to get a toon to level 25, it'd be nice to be able to easily respec to try out and test other skills. I started to try it last night and quickly reached a cost of 7000 to remove the next skill point and ran myself broke. I'm torn on grinding to afford a full respec vs starting a new toon.
  12. Actually, in the back of my mind, the map graphics are based on an adobe product. Not so much reader but one of the others, but it probably has some dlls in common. You could probably look thru the files for map related ones and possibly figure it out from the file extensions (I've long since uninstalled Sacred 2 or I'd look tonight). I remember in the Sacred 2 beta that I installed a software developer kit to be able to view the base files, in part so we could figure how we could export the map for the wiki. I know that it uses 2 base maps (one in grey tones and one in color) (and those have layers because of the underground levels) to show where you've explored and then it has a file of icons and images that it overlays on the map to show special features (towns, quest monsters, etc). I remember figuring that out because of a couple map bugs I reported, such as the town where you get the music concert quest being off by a fraction so the roads didn't line up. And as wolfie notes, it might have been locking up a dll or something while trying to run an update check.
  13. Sheesh... It's quite simple. They're not Greek letters. They're Ancarian runes that were transposed into Greek letters for lack of the proper font (lazy programmers: "we'll fix that in beta").. So first you have to figure out what the original Ancarian rune was and then you have to find someone who speaks Ancarian. My money is on "no ticket, no laundry".
  14. Yep, that's what I was thinking of! I've found a couple places like that where you break the wall and go "off" the map. Here's an easy one to reach (caution: sometimes it contains two queen spiders). The red circles I put on the map are breakable walls. I put an attack (Cadence) on my right mouse button and that seemed to do the trick for getting my toon to target it. Where I put the red box may be a randomly occuring one. Not sure that I've seen it every time I've run the warden's cellar. The breakable section of wall is very obvious once you realize what to look for (except for it dark so you have to be looking).
  15. I found some map features spawn when the game first loads, so they stay the same if you go back to the main menu but will change if you exit all the way to desk top. A good example is the blockages in the tunnels of the Flooded Passage. When I farmed that run, I'd restart until I liked the path it made to the boss; then as long as I didn't CTD, I'd have the same path for every run. Is "Ominious Lair" the biggest of the hidden spider areas off the map in the cellars and below? After finally figuring out how to get thru the wall to a place visible on the map, I started watching every wall for breakable sections. I'm curious but haven't invested the time yet to see if those are 100% static or if some off the map areas spawn like some other map features.
  16. I beat the Alpha last night. I think it helped that I went back and farmed the Flooded Passage for an hour or two to upgrade my gear. I was a little stoked when I got 3 blues in a single run, but after that the drops went back to more normal mix. Farming also fixed my problem of being too broke to buy anything. I did discover that at least some areas have randomly spawned Heros. In fact my first time thru the Flooded Passage I had a snake-person Hero who pounded me badly, so it wasn't until I'd quit and went back later that I realized it wasn't the boss monster. While farming the Flooded Passage, I also found a spider Hero (I'll post a screen shot later). Has any tried the cultist area behind the metal door? (I guess on the GD forum, they're calling it Sanctuary.) I finally realized to look at enemy level and they're all 25+, so my level 22 soldier isn't up to it yet. Oh, and piercing retaliation is awesome for a melee build. I also found an item w/ damage reflect, which unlike retaliation would also reflect back at ranged enemies but the % was too small to really matter (bone rats were getting 1 or 2 pts of reflect damage per projectile). Reflect might be good at the higher % but I only saw it once; it might be more common at higher levels; but for now too rare to make a build around. Two comments on components: 1) "hollow fang" is awesome for adding leech to a build, it's my current "must have" add-on for a weapon. 2) completion bonuses are variable (or at least semi-variable), meaning you don't get the same bonus everytime so pay attention.
  17. Lower graphics worked... just spent a couple hours playing. So far, so good. They've obviously put some thought into this!
  18. I didn't get started downloading until late in the evening, so only played for a short time last night. Tonight I'll have to seriously tweak down the graphics to smooth them out; 15 minutes of play had my head and stomach spinning from motion sickness. Otherwise I'll have to try exposure therapy; I read that if you play initially in 5-10 minute blocks then your brain's motion center adjusts and you're supposed to quit getting sick from that particular activity.
  19. Since Knuckles has been chomping at the bit for this game for a couple of years, I finally broke down and prepaid so I can be in both the alpha and beta. Woot woot!
  20. The video of Citadel looks like they had a side-scroller game and slapped some Sacred related script into it (words like seraphim and braverock). Of course... Sacred 2 didn't have a lot besides the word "seraphim" in common with S1. I miss good ol' Amon Shi.
  21. Given the owners' ages and fixed income, I would go the SPCA/rescue group route. You might also contact local media and possibly in conjunction with the SPCA/rescue group could find a kind and generous heart who could undertake this burden. If a TV station will run a segment, I bet a dozen people will offer to pay for the surgery and to adopt the kitten rather than it get put to sleep. I will just offer that to do nothing is the worst of possible options. Animals are unable to let you know when they're in pain, so for the few times it's bad enough for you to realize it, they have many other moments of pain you miss.
  22. Germany simply doesn't have the same problem with trichinosis that the US and Canada do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis http://faculty.uml.edu/rhochberg/hochberglab/Courses/Parasite/PDF%20Papers/Nematodes/World%20Distribution%20of%20Trichinella.pdf Modern swine raising techniques do allow for certified trichinosis-free pork, which means the meat can be cooked to a lower temperature (and therefore have more flavor and tenderness). We also have to watch out for salmonella, which can result in very bad food poisoning. The only meat I'll eat raw is sushi from a reputable sushi restaurant.
