Anyone running Elite Grafx on Sacred 2 here?

Recommended Posts

I'm installing it now, takeing forever :D

I had it running pre last patch and it worked fine, cept in MP I would get some lag...dunno if was elite grafx or not...to be honest, I was surprised after I had gotten home and Schot said he had installed it on my system... and no problems then.

Hoping this install goes well...the thing about the Elite is, it just makes the game have a better"feel" visually. Hard to be definitive about this, but Schot and I grabbed a bunch of before and after screen pics which I'll post later. I guess it's a bunch of details like this all adding up that make running this extra touch worth it if your system can run it.

Can't stop looking at this shield. Me and Schot were astonished right now at the detailing on it. This pic is decent but you really have to see the game running this live to appreciate the faded, scratched paint on this shield, and the way it's fitted in against it's metal frame.

Quite something that detail. When I zoomed in close, optionsCustom FTW, I was so impressed by the detail and how the quality maintains itself with regards to movement. Beautiful work Ascaron. Oh and that's at AAx2. Now I gotta try AAx4 and see what that will give. Shiiney. :agreed:

It will give you a shocking loss in fps.

Not worth it.

And I tried the elite graphics.

I didnt see any difference between them and just having the normal graphics set to very high.

I did notice a 5-10 fps hit, though I only have a HD4870 with 512meg (of DDR5 memory).

Speaking of FPS hit, is anyone finding Swirling Mist of Miasma lags the game a whole lot graphically (cause it sure aint servers when I'm in Single Player)?

All three encounters with it had me considerably slowed down, the "camera moves because its a boss" thing sure doesn't help either. The moment it died, everything was fine.

The only issue gameplay wise with this, is that it makes the 2nd and 3rd encounter's "tornado" attack harder to avoid. And I know it's pretty strong. Wouldn't be funny to die in hardcore just because of a FPS drop.

Sara, I once ran a toon through that area...never again. The lag was crazy and I almost lost my toon. All those weather effects are a might daunting on the cards.

Trust, what you said about the card running in overtime...SO TRUE!! I was thinking it was my imagination that the fans were blowing like a hurricane, and lately I've had to open up my windows to let in icy cold air after which the fans drop down...

Is this how they're getting the performance out from the new patch...by sticking in little whippers to make the card go fast?

:agreed:

p.s. regarding FPS drops with AA x 4, yeah it'll kick a card in the BLEEP anytime at that high a level...but ever since the patch, the game's been going well with everything turned high, even AA AND Elite graphics. I'll stick on Fraps and take a pick of the frame rate...I think before patch if I ever attempted it it would drop to about 10-15 :)

Contrary to common opinion, graphics cards contain little Imps (like the Carrier Imp, but with an easle & painting gear) that do all the drawing & colouring for images. It's kinda like a production line, one set of Imps draws the outline & hands it off to another set who do the colouring, they then hand it off to a group who does the lighting. They then hand the completed image to a group of specialist IT Imps who scan the image & send it to the monitor. The heat comes from the on-card sauna for the Imps (who have to work in shifts). The whip's you're referring to are installed by unscrupulous card-makers to get more "performance" out of a given set of Imps.

Anyone who talks about chips, pipelines, renderers & stuff doesn't know what they're talking about.

I fully intend to - when I get Sacred 2 - *wishes he had sacred 2*

Because by that point I'll have the money to replace my graphics card and put some RAID disks in.. probably

I run Sacred 2 with medium-level graphics and with the CPU handling PhysX and my FPS stays between 50 and 120. I'd rather have a high FPS than a high quality. I know what a sword looks like, and seeing it "more realistically" won't save my life or make it sharper, and I won't be able to "take it for real". I also put the setting on my card to "performance" as it was on "quality" before.

lol, imps and chimps whatever...as long as they're working hard, they have my vote :P

I had about ten days of problems with getting into MP and I had (sorry Elite!) blamed it on the Elite Grafx...Schot just solved the problem today, and the reason why the game was telling me that my account was unrecognizable was because of some options.txt changes done to my game which changed my ip addy...hence I became unknown to the game

:)

Maybe uninstalls and installs later, a lightbulb shot into Schot's head, we edited the files...

Bingo

I'm in

And Elite Grafx back in shining glory!

woooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, and the amount of imps in a card is often wrongly referred to as MB :D

Anyway, with my 4870 with 1024 imps, the Elite textures run fine :P

Yesterday I installed Elite too (Windows XP - 32bit).

My rig is overclocked: E8400@4050MHz + 4GB DDR2 @ 1080MHz + 8800GT 512MB(default)

Analysis is 1280x1024. I have all set to max, except no grass and no AA.

I have a frame drop in cities with the Elite more than before. But in-battle it is not noticing.

I think I am gonna switch off also shadows, because in dungeon and by night I have also drop.

For me, I vote for Elite. Cannot go easily back.

Since AA does a grater frame drop than elite .... I am more than happy :3lmao:, my improving graphics.

P.S. I should find the max framerate setting ... I am capped at 60 though some have lower this

to 45 for overheating issues

Sounds interesting! anybody got a link to where to find. Search for elite grafx on we and get a web design co that does porn sites. ouch. better clear dad's internet cache of that one.

Edit: so I figured out what Elite Graphics is. a DVD of hi res textures available with the Collectors edition of the game. Now the question is, how can I get it without ordering this copy. I already have 2 licenses, don't need another.

I found a Torrent listed in a google search for it but that kinda scares me. I don't think I want to get involved with that. any other ideas?

Yup I'm sure there's a way to get elite gfx to you *cough*cough* (might be a pandemic here-seems everyone is getting sick)

Pittsburgh ain't that far away where something can't be done. Plus I feel bad for you, Steelers looking awful this year. Was hoping to meet them in the playoffs (if my Pats who are pretty shaky themselves make it past the 1st round)
