Greetings My graphics card seems to be broken. A friend of mine ran something called 'stresstest', and he said the data suggested that my graphics card no longer works. This would explain the distorted 3d effect in games (see screenie below), and the fact that no driver seems to work. Seeing the fact that he repairs PC's for a living, and is one of my best friends, I trust his judgement. He is allso somewhat of a GPU guru so to speak He has a new GFX card pretty much every month or so, and he gave me some advice. Seeing the fact that I earned some cash with my student job, I figured I'd raise the bar a bit and give it about 200-250 euros (that would be around 300 dollars, I think. Quickly from the op of my head.). I allso told him I hardly ever play any FPS with insane graphics, and that I play lots of games like sacred, and diablo where the actual detail is in the environment and such. Allso for the money I wanted something to last me for at least a few years. He told me that I needed less 'clocking' as he called it on my GPU, due to the lack of processes, but I needed very high Shader Operations. Because environment-based graphics work with shader effects. After a quick search on the internet he advised me to buy the Nvidea 9800GTX+. It would fit my needs perfectly, it was in my price limit. Again I trust him virtually blind, since I know next to nothing about tech-stuff like that Now since 210 euros (including delivery, bout 250 dollars I recon) is still quite a lot of money to me, being a student, I figured I'd check your opinions aswell. I told my friend I'd be doing this, but it's not because I didn't trust him. He completely understood. So here is my question: Knowing that games like Crysis, BF 3 or whatever number there is, F.E.A.R and such will probably never run on my pc, but games like diablo 3, Sacred 2 and the sort will be running on it. What card do you recommend? Or less specific: will the 9800GTX+ Fill my needs? But Trackmania Forever is not exactly tetris, but a 7900GTX (which I have now), shouldn't have had any problems running this game in the first place, assuming it worked correct. On a sidenote: I have enough powerdraw, my motherboard supports that Graphics card, and All drivers known to mankind, and alienkind, that are designed for that card have been tested and failed ... For a while there I thought you were 'just' (due to lack of better words) a forum mod ad the SOF. (or SIF), but it turns out you actually work for ascaron. Nice . Hmm yeah, the community is something I value a lot too. In diablo 2 the community I knew wasn't really close .. if you know what I mean. In sacred (and possibly due to the fact that there were so little), the standard and HC communitys were very close knitted. Everyone knew everyone. And diablo allso has the more 'competitive item' market. Whereas sacred had little items of true value (allso because MF was easy, and even uniques dropped ALOT), but in diablo it all came down to who had the best MF bot while he was at work ... Kinda hoping that would disappear ... But I fear it will still remain that way. After reading some comments here, I think I will go for Sacred after all PS: *SHAME ON ME!* But I am not sure about certain things regarding guildwars. IS that an mmo? Or rpg like sacred/diablo? First off, I hope I wrote sacralism correct (something being sacred, is something sacralistic? Right?) Now, let's begin. The battle between what is sacred and what is diabolic rages beyond the sacred books. It rages right into my world. What to buy? Go for the struggle with Good and what is Sacred? (or sacred 2, to be precise), or go after my darker side and join Diablo (or Diablo 3, to be precise). You are getting my drift. The more trailers I watch, the cooler both games are becoming ! But I can't choose. I don't think I will have the time (nor the will) to play both games as soon as they come out, and yet I don't know what to choose. What are your insights. Noble seraphims, and diabolic barbarians ... I call upon thou! Make me buy the game you will start playing. Why should I play your choise of game? why sacred 2, or why diablo 3. I was thinking of buying Starcraft aswell, but for some reason I don't think it will have quite the community of either of the above mentioned games. Therefor it will be a later purchase (or, dare I say? Download for SP). In short: Convince me why I should either go with Sacred2 or Diablo 3... And who is going for what? As for gauntlets: Yes, they are dual weapons. An easy way to check is to use em on a char, and see if you can equip something else, while having the dual wield skill. But in all fairness... Gauntlets aren't worth it unless you make it a fun-build to only wear the gauntlets.

All elegance aside. It doesn't look to be confortable in the hand. Playstation-like controllers fit in the hands, and all buttons are positioned so that your fingers can easily reach them. This one looks ... difficult to play with for a while.

yeah, my style atm is kinda raider/semi-turtle due to the fact that I can't be online most of the day, and I don't have time to play a lot with my exams and all that. But the BC is very versatile indeed. Kinda the crashing version of what the bomber is for raiders. It pwns *ss! But like I said, currently pretty much raider, so my fleet is mainly Heavy fighters, cruisers, bombers and destroyers. As soon as my mines get to a confortable level, and I start to have some more time on my hands: SS, LF and BC wil definately be added.

Indeed, but ascaron never intended it to be a main skill. or at least I seem to have a vivant memory of that being the words of an ascaron personnel member on the OSF. I did a quick search there, but I cant seem to find it anymore.

however it is true that DS only does 'basic' physical damage, sets like lorgar can easily add poison damage, which is affected by charisma. And blood damage is offcourse available through andiell's set. And the 1 hit is true, thus making it more of a back-up skill. But it can be cast on partymembers aswell, suddenly making it far more versatile. A party of 4 needs allmost only the DS skill to completely, and safely, kill anything in sight. DS is more a 'backup skill' in the sense that it allows you to weaken some of your opponents before they get to you, while not affecting your attack speed in the proces. Basically, the same skill could say: - every 1 second a random enemy loses X% of it's hitpoints. With that, making the awesome damaging blows for the barbarian, absolutely killing, instead of severely weakening. Offcourse with the right equipment, any blow from a glad will kill your enemy, and DS alone will do the trick too. But when ascaron designed it, it was ment to be a skill to aid the gladiator by weakening it's opponents. I believe I read that somewhere on the OSF back in the days. Grtz, prom

What's up, my fellow braindisfunctional puppets of society (I know, maybe a little too much love there ) I was wondering who in D.a.r.k is still playing Ogame. I noticed some goodbye hits, and I know some of you guys quit. I am playing in the .nl universe right now (dutch OGame) and I recently got accepted in one of the top alliances in the universe. They did some 'testing' of my skills, and found me worthy, but seeing my largest account ever was only 160k points (and thus tiny gets a new definition ) I might need some hints n tips every now and then. This account is 90k points at the moment, but it ranks top 400 out of a little more then 5000, and seeing I only started in the beginning of july, when the nr 1 allready had over a few hundred k points, they said they were impressed at my ranking. (quite franky I blame the many many inactives, but then again ...) The alliance I got in is at nr 4 atm with 12 members, only behind by 44k points (nothing) to the 3th alliance, with 30+ members. At points/member we are the nr 2 alliance, and we are in top 5 with both fleet and research ... And I dangle at the bottom, waiting to be eaten by warhungry sharks It's not that the people in my alliance aren't wiling to help, in the contrary, they are very helpfull. But I might need some insights from the guys who actually flew ripsfleet bigger then my fodderfleet . So is anyone still playing Ogame? I might dump some questions here every once in a while, and prepare for my written exam of Ike's wonderfull guides . Cya, prom
