  1. Yeah, those boss fights were pretty annoying. I swallowed my pride and dropped the difficulty level just to get by them. I'm glad you only have to do the campaign once and can skip it with future characters. The campaign isn't even finished yet, there's 1-2 acts missing.
  2. I actually didn't follow the kickstarter, so I missed some of the drama with it. I did buy it when it came out cuz I was bored (story of my life). Apparently it was originally open-world, then they completely changed it. Probably don't blame them, a massive open-world APRG would be really difficult to pull off. Sacred 1/2 are the only examples that spring to mind, and I'm sure they were pretty hard to pull off.
  3. Ultima 5 was my first one. Then got each installment as they came out, culminating in the catastrophic disappointment of Ultima 9 I think "Curse of the Azure Bonds" and "Might and Magic 2" were the first RPGs I bought for the PC. Ex-smoker here too, been off that stuff for 10 years now, yay!
  4. Pretty cool power metal. Didn't like this the two times I tried it back in the 00s, but it finally clicked with me recently.
  5. Gateway to Apshai on the C64 (assuming that counts as an ARPG, it certainly counts as a rogue-like). I grew up on more traditional RPGs (eg, Ultima, Wizardry, Might and Magic, AD&D, etc), but eventually moved over to ARPG since old-style RPGs aren't really made any more (and the ones that are aren't very good, IMO). Either that or I'm a repressed gambling-addict (which ARPGs certainly scratch that itch)
  6. Reddit always reminded me of a replacement for usenet (anyone remember that?) I do think reddit is a major contributor to the decline of forums though. It does have its uses though, namely being able to access many different communities with one account (whereas with forums you'd have to join countless forums for that). However I can't say I'm a fan of threaded topics and I don't like how new topics can't be bumped and rapidly drop to the bottom. I like the discussion flow of forums more. I'm not a fan of the upvote/downvote mechanic either. Music-based reddits are rather annoying because they all essentially turn into youtube-spam and you rarely get any real discussion.
  7. Has potential. I did actually buy it during early access, but I think I'll hold off seriously diving into it until its content complete and has an official release. I like the idea of tiered class progression and would like to see other games explore that more in the future (eg, base class -> advanced class).
  8. Well, this game got off to a pretty rough start, to put it mildly. There's a significant patch coming out this month, so I'll may reinstall this game and give it another go then. If not then, definitely when they release that Second Dawn content update later this year. To be honest, I didn't mind my time with this game and I had some fun with it. Its not even close to its potential (assuming it ever reaches it) though. I did enjoy the base-building part of the end game. I wish more games would have things like that.
  9. I reinstalled it a couple times over the last decade, but its been awhile since I played it. Thankfully my save games survived all this time. Unfortunately I can't remember what my planned builds or stat allocation were
  10. I found downloading items killed a lot of fun for me, but I had absolutely zero luck ever finding any legendaries (and I didn't like doing a lan/multiplayer to farm bosses over and over). Probably explains why a BFG seraphim is my most played character. I don't think I could ever use a pre-made character though - that would really kill things for me. The hook for me with these games is the process of leveling. Its strange how I can use a character editor with some other RPGs and it doesn't totally ruin things for me. This one (and any Diablo-like) is another story altogether though.
  11. Now that I finally got the right thread... If they increased textures/resolution, etc, I wouldn't complain. Graphics were already pretty good to begin with though. Considering they did a couple expansion packs for Titan Quest, I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they did one for Sacred 2 as well. Since games are essentially "immortal" now, I wish companies would give games lifetime support (remasters, upgrade to support new operating systems, and maybe some content). I guess it depends on if the revenue from Steam sales exceeds the cost of doing it though.
  12. Covid-19 hasn't helped my stress/anxiety levels much (which are perpetually awful), but I'm hanging in there I guess. Where I live is relatively safe and being isolated doesn't bother me too much. Going grocery shopping and to the post office are my only real areas of risk/concern, but I take as many precautions as I can. I really need to stop watching the news, cuz this isn't helping me lol Normally, I've historically avoided watching that stuff...
  13. Excruciatingly dull and boring. First world problems, I know. Decided to reinstall Sacred 2 to see if that helps (still haven't beat it on Niob). I guess my computer has come full-circle. I bought Sacred 2 for my computer back in 2010, and I'll probably replace it this year. Still got some new CDs I gotta play too.
  14. Thanks! (took me like 10 years to post though lol) The Amalur remaster is up on steam now (the original got yanked). Apparently the visuals will be improved a bit, and some balancing tweaks. Most importantly, enemy levels will no longer be fixed after you enter a zone. That was really annoying in the original and promoted a lot of (imo needless) metagaming. Not sure if they're going to do anything else with level-scaling or anything. I'm assuming there will be a harder difficulty level added, since difficulty was one of the biggest complaints I've seen with the game. Big Huge Games apparently had a patch in the works before 38 studios folded, so maybe some of those fixes will make it in. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't experience many bugs (except a few inventory items that you can't delete/remove). [edit] I replied to the wrong thread, that response was meant for the Amalur one. I need more coffee! lol
  15. I already beat the original twice, not sure if I feel like playing it again. If the remaster is given to original buyers, I may give it another playthrough though. I never tried a spellcaster or a 2H-hammer build yet. Apparently they're doing an expansion for it too. Now whether it is of quality remains to be seen.
  16. I played the first two once each, but never felt the need to go back to either. I preferred the debut. I did buy the 3rd one though, hopefully it'll be better. It has a long way to go though, judging from what I've seen in early access though.
  17. I'd be down for a remaster. I heard Sacred 2 has problems with Windows 10, so it would be nice to see that addressed. Incorporating the community patch and maybe doing a second expansion would be nice. I don't think I'd want them to do more drastic balancing/"fixing" though (eg, adding respeccing).
  18. Indie rock/shoegaze or whatever. Don't understand a word, but the vocalist seems pretty upset up about something.
