  1. Yes, lesser resolution increases your FPS. Here is my good setup for a slow computer: In Graphics options, set textures to minimum, turn off shadows completely, set all other sliders to medium. If possible, set the render detail slider to high - this will make all lights bloom. For future references, I recommend always running in FullScreen mode, turning off Vsync and extra unnecessary post processing.
  2. Just beat Thief 4, and it’s OK. Basically, it’s Thief 3 with a different story and a graphics detail update. While having valid points about the flaws in the game, Yahtzee is completely bias when it comes to the Thief series. No way does Thief 4 qualify for any top 5 worst games list of the year, especially not number 1.
  3. Sad to hear that. But I know for a fact that there are versions of S1 out there that don't crash as often. GOG is selling Sacred 1 Gold for 9 bucks.
  4. Yay! Sacred 3 won Yahtzees Worst game of the year spot! Spot number 5 out of 5, but a spot non the less. P.S. Though I don't agree with Thief being on the list, primarily because I'm about to play it.

So they copy your selected files directly into RAM to speed up the process. It may help with lag, long loading screens and fps rates. If you have too much RAM space, this thing will make it useful. Someone tech savvy people might find it very beneficial. I have no problems of the sort, but it’s nice to know that the tech exists.
  6. 1 Depends on personal preference. The point is to have fun. If you want to enjoy yourself, don’t read too much into it. If you want to build the most efficient PC, then do. If you experience difficulties, then consult the wiki or the community. You could go without knowing some of the controls and still enjoy the game. 2 They are OK for an ARPG. You’ll see variations, but most of them are the same. They run at you, swarm you, fire from a distance, sometimes retreat for 5 meters, then go back to attacking you. And if you level up over the area monster level a lot, they even avoid fighting you if you keep your distance. 3-4 Level up Vitality to die less. Use the Energy Shroud buff to die less. Read up on skills to see what type of PC you want to build (you are limiter to 10, so go from most useful to least when you level up your character). Damage per second is good. Leveling up combat arts will increase their cooldown time. Complete the main quest up to Act 2 to unlock the mountain path and 75% of the world (the islands become available only as you go through the main quest). Skip bronze, go for silver difficulty. You can beat silver campaign by level 75. Take your time, explore and enjoy the scenery. There are lots of goodies hidden throughout the world.
  7. Get Sacred Gold version with Underworld. The vanilla version will just be a waste of time at this point (less quests, half the game is missing, more bugs). I only experience loading save game crashes. The savegame files are fine (most mods don't affect them) and usually load on the 5-8th attempt. Don’t know why. Just persevere. Opening the starting character select screen can save you time, as the game also crashes in this case, probably for the same reason. But after that I experience no noticeable bugs. Sacred 1 has some difficulty spikes. The biggest one is right after the starting area when you get the main plot companion. But once you grind a bit for more damage per second weapons/skills, you can explore most of the world easily. Do try to remember that this is a German Action RPG that is 10 years old. That was the standard level of AI of the time.
  8. Sacred 1 came out in 2004, between Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion, so it was before mod-support became a major issue in games. Back then mods were considered cheating, and you had to play the game as the developers intended it. However, Sacred 1 does support skin redesign and animation swap mods. There is even a veteran mod to ramp up the difficulty. You can even change the music in the game, but not speech or soundeffects. But let’s get to the core of your problem. What mods do you want to put on Sacred 1?
  9. That's all nice and good, but can you be a werewolf in this game? And I don't mean shapeshifter mod where your form is automatically deactivated at the start of the cutscenes 90% of the time. That's the point of fun with the shapeshifter mage class - "Don't worry everybody, the bear is here, he will save us." "Swarm of bees, you have besmirched my honor. I challenge you to a duel." Otherwise, the fun of being a shapeshifter is lost yet again.

  11. Well, they did have a lot of problems setting up a worldwide crowdfunding system. On the other hand we have proven that there is money in this.... And judging on how many people were out there, who didn’t have PayPal, there is a lot more. By my calculations, the development would need to ship 50000 copies of the game at full price just to break even. We might need to buy 2 copies of the game later, and some merchandise, to prevent them from going bust again.
  12. Their timing is amazing. On April Fools they announced their new game, on Christmas they changed gears and into what feels like "thank you and goodbye" (which it isn't). Makes you wander what they will pull on Easter.
  13. The hellhound and final boss from I&B expansion have doubles on the main map. Who's in charge of map editing, needs to fix this - people are losing their minds trying to find them in the vanilla version of the game.
  14. It's also lodged in your hand. Do shurikens suppose to be so high up the arm?
  15. I agree. It's hard to picture the lovable slow metal beast as the Assasin from Diablo 2. But there are 7 classes in Diablo 2, and 7 in Sacred 2 I&B. So ether you have to change the PC model completly, or go back the the drawing board. Yoshio, how would you set up the classes then?
  16. There is no such thing as "overkill". There is only "wasting ammunition". And in this case it's "wasting money". 862$ might not be cheap, but an overkill videocard will last longer. Maybe it will even last as long as the PC rig. Whats videogame did you get?
  17. That's what I do for any new game. Don't care if the quality drops to Minecraft level - I love seeing polygons and analyzing the tidbits of how they did it. No. My problem is this: "Fatal Error - A graphics card supporting DirectX 11 was not detected." I get this instantly when I start the game. No way around it. The suggestions on YouTube to trick it with a Windows Kit didn't help. So I accepted my fate - to play the game I need a newer video card. I'm just enraged that the developers did this before DirectX 12 came out! Thank you for the help, but lets drop this DX11 subject altogether. It's just frustrating and not going anywhere.
  18. Could have been worse. Your employers are covering most of your expenses? Right?
  19. Wow. At least my supervisors had the decency to plan out the entire travel route during the commission. Sounds like if you ever get to onsite, it will be another level of hell. You best start planning contingencies while you still have access to the good quality shops. Chances are you wont have half of what you have now.
  20. What I meant was to go from 4.1 to 5. Is it possible to do by just updating the drivers?
  21. Gods dam shaders.... Agian! Everything else is green for Alien Isolation. So... This is a novice question... Are the shaders hardcoded into the graphics card? Or is there a way to update them through driver updates?
  22. Best get the "next gen" vidoecard at this point (and double-check that its next gen compatible). It's not like the PS4 and Xbox are going to get updated any time soon, so a videocard that can play WatchDogs or Alien Isolation should last you as long as the rig.
  23. Ether you are not in the right underground area, or you have rushed through the trigger in the quest. Check the wiki page if you are in the right place. And try backtracking a bit. http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:The_Escape
  24. I don't know your budget, but a DX11-card is available from 40-50€ (a GTX 560ti...which is enough to play Skyrim with a lot Mods...) Thank you for the price checkup. I built my gaming rig this January for 1K €. Aimed it to last for a couple of years before replacing it completely. Had to swap out the video-card a couple of months later because it had a factory defect... and was stuck on a temporary card for a couple of months after that. The rig is fine enough as it is, and I have a lot of games to catch up on (Skyrim included). So updating the video-card over one game I can play later is just not worth it.
