  1. Welcome to the forum Shutdown Sacred2 , edit, restart. The changes will only be effective at a restart. Make sure you put the correct syntax in balance.txt? Missing ;, {} can cause syntax errors which aren't shown. The game goes back to default in such cases I think. If changed values are out of a hard coded interval they are often ignored. Sure you edited in administration mode? You need administration rights to overwrite balance.txt...
  2. Finally real night frosts. So my alarm rings at 3am to move trunks out of the forest while the ground is still frozen. The weather is dry and sunny. So without clouds the nights are real cold, cold enough to freeze the ground.
  3. I really wonder why the Inquisitor is last. At least in the CM-Patch he can doublewield x% lifeleech fist weapons and can attack with an amazing 170% attack speed. So lack in boss-killing which was one of his drawbacks is no more. Mass-killing: since double-wield is taken for boss killing he can also use two Nlovae-staves with extended combat art range. Add the ca-range boosting sigil set and he is able to get nearly the whole screen into the black-hole effect. And more enemies affected is more damage done, so it is a double-win. Haven't played an inquisitor in the CM-patch yet, but he should be last I think. Add that I like his character class quest most.
  4. At the german version of the Orpheus quest is a statue which reads : Der Glöckner von Tränenbach. Mann, hab ich's im Kreuz The belll-ringer of Teardrop. Boy, I got something at my back Quasimodo-Der Gllöckner von Notre Dame is the german title of the book. Glöckner translates as bell-ringer. Orpheus in the Underworld is an operette based on the greek saga. Is there something poiting to Quasimodo in the english version too? The same Statue at another place has soccer eastereggs.
  5. At the birthday of my brother's wife: 'Sunshine of your love'. My brother played e-guitar in a punk band at school and he grapped it as a surprise. I was even more surprised when my daughters grapped their hidden instruments too. Answering to the idiotic and questioning look I must have had, my brother said: Sorry. the arrangement doesn't include a tuba and I know how bad you sing -which is actually the reason I play the tuba Not as good as the original, but we had a lot of fun. Here the fantastic original but less good than yesterday version
  6. Visited my former classmate and now restaurant owner at saturday. He had a brandnew thing at his restaurant: a big blackboard at the door:
  7. Which combat arts do you have modified? Maelstrom? It should reduce stats of the enemy, reduce physical armour, ... Normally a combination of maelstrom and gust of wind is enough for bosses. The maelstrom effects stack, so the enemy has less and less max hitpoints, less physical armour... So the physical attack should take advantage of this. Use a two or three socket shield and a three socket sword, fill all six sockets with sure hit, reducing enemy chance to evade and reg per hit... Should be possible to kill all bosses without x% life leech.
  8. Allowing alcohol or not is always a problem for parents once the kids are 15. At parties there will be alcohol. So we did it the way that we allowed our oldest to drink with the adults at family parties first. The idea was to show her symptoms of drinking, change in behaviour when drinking and get a bit trained in absorbing alcohol. We always feared that she would get too drunk at a party, luckily it never happened. She learned to say no when feeling that her alcohol tolerance level would be reached.
  9. You drink enough? Your kidneys are okay? Did you have an infection or a cold lately... My wife is a doc and she did these questions quite automatic when hearing the symptoms. She said kidney functions have to be checked regulary when using Metformin, but your docs probably did. Infections or a cold can lower the filter rate of the kidneys for a while. If this happens Metformin can reach toxic levels. Her patients with Metformin are told to stop it and contact her when feeling pain symptoms like from a pankreatitis.
  10. My dad died 18 months ago. And I noticed that it takes distance to see all he did and why he did. I have a 4 year older sister, a three year younger sister and a four year younger brother. Till I was 8 I rarely saw my father because he was always working as an high-voltage-electrician in buiding powerplants at different places. He did this to earn more money to settle in an own house with his family. When I was older we used to move with him, but then I was at a school which needed much train and bus traffic together with running from 8am to 6pm. So I really saw him not that much. And when our family finally started to build our house he often asked me to help him with the work and I preferred playing soccer with friends in my free time. It took some debates with my sisters to notice why he asked me to help: he just wanted to see all of his family more often before we would leave for universities. My younger siblings he was driving to their sports, my older sister got driving lessons from him... And the only spare time my dad had and which was in a time I wasn't at school was when working at the house. Took a time and some help from my sisters to notice that. Being a rebellious teenager at this time didn't help probably. And now there are moments memories get alive: The washing machine didn't work and I was away for work in france. 4 hours later my wife called it is repaired, our daughter said she learned it from her grandpa when he showed her how to repair the LP-disc player and there wasn't much a different except the size. He was really good in teaching. He was born in 1937, my grandpa being POW till 1954. He had to visit a local school with 120 kids in a class because of no teachers in the afterwar years. When being 16 he had to start working because grandpa was still POW. Don't know what would have been without the war, would he had visited an university, becoming a teacher or an engineer? He was really proud when all of us visited universities, a chance he never had. Another tradition Each easter we still put eastereggs in anthills, something my father showed me. The ants attack the eggs and their acid changes the colour of the eggs. They are then spotted, blurred like marble. Then we place some sugar at the anthill for their work.
  11. Recently our family started to play more board games than just 2 years ago. Our internet access is via a radio link down to a tower in the valley and at storms it is not really stable. Also the bandwidth is limited. When my wife or me have to do downloads for our jobs the kids have to stay by side. Most recent multiplayer games demand stable internet access which is not always given. So the good old board games had a renaissance. Settlers of Catan, Monopoly, Trio, .... Another place boardgames are played is strangely the waiting room of my wife as a doc. It is not as in towns where you give the patients a time when they have to appear. People here are used to pop up tuesdays evening when farmwork for the day is done. Sometimes it is a matter of minutes sometimes it needs more time. Some have kids with them and so often a quick board game is played. Mainly classics with a playtime of around 10 minutes. Most played recently is Cuatro. http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/149863/cuatro It is a funny little game.
  12. A way to increase the chances a bit: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/18409-sacred-2-balancetxt This sets that a shop has 70% of its items for your class. Many people set this to 1000 so all items are for the class they play. Last autumn My daughter cursed that she wasn't able to buy double-wield hammers for her Blacksmith SW with the bargaining network. I said that she could easily increase the chances that they appear in the bargaining network. It took her 3 minutes to have a bright lightbulb on her head... Noone forces you to increase the chance for the bargainer to get stuff for its class. If the class you want to bargain for is different, set the number from 700 to 10 or something similiar small.

  14. This guide will be in work for some weeks I fear: I do not know if we are the only ones with hundreds of started and then forgotten characters. But there are characters you play again from time to time. Whatever the reason for the awakening from the harddisc sleep will be: Testing new stuff from mods Refreshing knowledge of a character class or just fun ... Best is to have it all in one character. So here is our longtime dryad. She can use voodoo, nature and weapons. She has not just a single playstyle but can turn from a ranger to a voodoo hybrid to a pure caster and any combination of it while leveling up. No reasons to start over with a new character if you want more than just shooting with your blowpipe. Just grap the fitting equipment from your chest. How ever - such a character has some drawbacks. Being a bit weak in defense is one of them. So she got alchemy quite early in her career. Having heal potions which heal for 100% makes a very nice emergency buttom. With alchemy we also have 50% better experience rate nearly all the time because mentors last minutes. Stats The stats are easy: all in vitality because the constitution skill is not choosen. Skills Tactics Lore - mainly to have fast and good hitting ranged attacks to recharge combat arts with reg per hit Spell Resistance - unlocks armour lore and reduce negatives effects late game when mastered Alchemy - better heals, more experience, undeads not raising up after dead, throphies... I want it Armour lore - While the ranger playstyle just needs a full Detheya, casters are best with yellow stuff Nature Lore - in difficulties below niob it is just for golden glade touch Voodoo Focus - Shrunken heads from bosses and allows a totem/ranged weapon hybrid style Voodoo Lore - Better totems Combat Discipline - more damage to all aspects and turns the reg clock by 20% (better than just 20% better regen) Damage Lore - For hybrid playing: the totems poison at long range and when finally nearby the enemies are in deathblow trigger Nature Focus - In niob we change from the hunter buff to barkskin and use damage doing nature spells Playstyles Shooting with a blowpipe 9 levels in bronze to modify the hunter buff Blowpipe combined with Totems for damage and golden glade touch for staying alive in silver Gold: Same as silver, but using curses and disease on bosses. If possible shield with a thrown lifeleech weapon Platinum: having a full detheya by now so Bosses which have no fitting shrunken head are a lot easier. Niob: the hit chance is from jewelry, the attack speed from trophies so we change hunter buff for barkskin. Depending if the enemies have shrunken heads or not: if yes vines and totems. If no ranged and totems. If it is an area with lot of beasts without a fitting shrunken head (demons, ghosts, mechanics...) we use a weapon with fire damage. If they have a fitting head we use a weapon with magical damage because the vines will do fire damage already. We try to get as many secondary for damage lore as possible. The totems are modified for faster shooting and not for a shorter cooldown. This is mainly because of the mixed playstyle and having golden glade touch as the main defense for a long long time. Do a totem at the corner of the screen, start golden glade touch, shoot at everything which approaches. If all enemies are dead, advance and repeat. Normally the last totem is still up in your back and shoots at enemies which come too close. The right mouse buttom is your friend. I have the inventory screen open all the time and right click on the shrinken head I want equipped. It is just a second too change the heads.
  15. There is a german enclave in switzerland. Laws are quite confusing there. German belongs to the european community, the swiss not. Same is valid for the village of Büsingen, the 1500 people german enclave in the swiss. Not bound to european law, allowed to pay german letter stamps with swiss franc, ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%BCsingen_am_Hochrhein
  16. Every few years a smart and wise person hates taxes and founds his own kingdom with himself as a self declared or voted king. The country which the new kingdom was a part of (or most often still is) however considers such persons as mentally ill or tax fugitives. For example the Königreich Deutschland (Kingdom of germany) with its 35 people. http://www.vice.com/Fringes/kingdom-of-germany
  17. It's the time of the year again: carneval. So doing one of the traditional recipes: Berliner. My daughters did them iand I do the fillings: egg-liceure, plum jam, ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berliner_%28doughnut%29 You are invited: we did like 12 plates with 20 on each.
  18. I do not know what is more cruel: Catching living mice for an insured hungry owl who has to learn hunting again in a big outdoor birdcage.
  19. Yes, wish you a lot of success. One of us has to become a billionaire as soon as possible to buy the rights of sacred and make a Sacred4 the community really wants
  20. Toi toi toi for your job You are lucky that you got a job were you could apply your bachelor work. I did theoritical maths at my diploma work and a cooperation with an army supplier for my doctor work. Did both because of it looked interesting and not for a long plan regarding hunting for a job. Both were quite useless to impress banks and insurance companies which give the most jobs for maths. Was more good contact at volunteer firefighters which gave me my nowadays jobs. Now I am quite happy for my job at countryside instead one inside a big town. The job is quite save because there are not much who did the crazy combination I did (mathematician who knows explosives).
  21. Probably. The book 'Illuminati' appeared when Sacred2 was in the making. The movie 'Illuminati' appreared 2008/2009. So I am not sure if the makers joined the hype about the book and the movie which was at that time. Dollar or Euro, what is more evil: The back of the german 50Cent coin: It looks innocent, but the hidden dangers are the worst:
  22. My Boss smokes one of these e-pipes or however they are called. He said there is a not so cheap vaporizer liquid which is very close to the taste of a normal pipe. My brother has a e-pipe too. He said it makes him think twice before speaking and people don't exspect quick answers from pipe smokers. They are normally considered wise and good listereners. My wife as a doc said that if she would been a boy she would probably smoke a pipe as a doc. JUst to listen too the people. The doc whose rooms she took when he retired was a pipe smoker.
  23. I need frost and there is none around ..... And I fear it won't be anymore this winter. I saw storks circling in the sky yesterday when I shape-cutted appletrees. A quick interrogation of my family showed that none of them was in good hope so without a special order by the baby delivery boss, I fear the storks already arrived from africa. I need frozen ground to move tree trunks out of the forest.
  24. is there a version of the game where these gloves with damage type transformation actually work? I think they affect just the tooltip but not the actual damage to monsters. I never saw a secondary effect when wearing such gloves and doing pure physical magic attacks.
