Schot 407
Hey hey gang. Well aside from working to complete this skin I've been fiddling with an idea to get a last.fm player to work in everyones profiles. (Last.fm) Personally I think music is a major element when it comes to a community and think it would be cool to not only get to know eachother on the base of discussion but to also have a little listen on eachothers musical tastes. That said allow me to present to you an example of what would be added to your personal profile page. Most likely at the top right. This my playlist at Last.fm embeded below: Basically the way it would work is you would need to register at Last.fm and then using their system you would add tracks you like as favorites. Once you have 15 or more fave tracks the site will offer you a code to embed a player just like the one above for free to embed anywhere you want. Now in that embed code they supply would be some key info such as your username and user ID # that the site generates for you. In the meantime I will have embeded a generic player into everyones profile with the missing key info that members could be prompted to enter into their own profiles in order to play their, or someone elses, playlist from last.fm. Whew! Make sense? haha. At the moment I'm kinda on my own with this mod. I haven't been able to find an already made modification of this sort which means there may be a lot of hoops for me to jump through before being able to finalize the idea. At this point I have the easy parts figured out and I'm wondering if there would be enough interest in this. Or would I simply be wasting my time? Cheers gang! Let me know what you think. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Merged Post ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love it want it can I have it? What Fun!! Oh Yes please!!!! Yeah I think it's a cool idea too. Oh yeah same as Katran can I have it now please Yes actually... You can! Haha. I made a tricky lil hack to get it to work, hehe. Not the best and I do intend to tidy it up but it's implemented! Check out my profile and you'll see it. Playable in all its glory. Now everyone has the player in their profile but nothing will play unless the person has added the needed info. So here's the deal... You need an account at Last.fm which I think is a totally awesome site btw. Once registered you need to collect some music for yourselves. So go run through the site and look for songs to add to your playlist! Once you've added 15 or more songs to your playlist a new player will appear in your last.fm profile. Now finding that page that will show your playlist player has been a hassle for me to find so I'll tell you the easy way to get to it. When you are logged in to last.fm you will see your name at the very top right of the screen. Click on your name and you will be taken to the page that shows your Playlist player. Under the words "My Playlist" a few lines under you will see "Embed" with a drop down arrow. Select Embed all. You will be taken to a new page with the details on the embed. Click the "Show me the code" button. Now you see "Here's your code to copy and paste:". The only thing you want from this code is your "resourceID". There's a lot of stuff in that code so here's what I suggest: Click once inside the code to highlight the text Push ctrl-F on keyboard to do a word search Type inside the word search resourceID= You should now see resourceID= inside the box containing the code Copy the number and only the number directly after resourceID= Now you have your User ID # which you will need to enter here in the forum Here at FDM do the following: Click My Controls at the top of page Click Edit Profile Information (left side menu of links) At the very bottom of the page there are 2 new fields you can enter info into Last.fm Username - Enter the name you log into Last.fm with Last.fm ID# - Enter the ID # you just copied from the embed code And Voila! Go to your profile and check out your Last.fm Playlist Player. I'll be looking at options to let members choose between a My Playlist player or a My Radio player. Let me know if you folks need help and enjoy! P.s. Here's a pic of me pretending to add a track to my playlist Link to comment

Schot 407
Ah hehe. I do try. You'll have to have two tabs open for the moh but there is a "open player in new pop-up" option that I could add to the player like they do on Last.fm but that means you'll have another window open anyway. That should be fixed now... Link to comment

Schot 407
P.s. I just had a look on your profile and saw you got your Playlist up and running. Funkilicious 1
Sorry Schot, found the reason why I am not seeing it (my apologies, I don't use the skin you made, I use the IP.Board Pro) any chance of you coding that one too:) Link to comment

gogoblender 3,070
A brilliant mod. You're turning our profiles into a great way to meet peeps. Nice work here. Music is always so appreciated. Watch this custom mod of yours get copied in every other forum in the land! gogo Link to comment
Schot 407
Oh man this is so cool! I've been running around to other peoples playlists and giving them all a good 30 min listen so far. I'm finding this is really bringing the forum to a whole new level for me. Woot! And it's my first mod too! Whoohoo! I've given Claire and toret's playlist a good long listen and love them! Can't wait to give Ari's and Funki's a listen. Come on gogo. Make some beats for us. Also, I've attached a button to the bottom of the player that will open the player in a different window which is kinda handy I think. Depending on how your browser is set up the button will either open the player in a new window or, like mine because I set it this way, will open it in a new tab. For those that get a new tab and want a new window you can right click the button and then from the drop down menu choose new window. That should do it. Link to comment
Arilaftia 0
Oh I could hug you!! When I first started to play with it, I thought it only played the 30 second snippets, But its the whole song!! Oh Hugs! What a great toy! Link to comment

I have a feeling the first thing I'll do on the forum tomorrow is check out someones music in their profile. Oh and as for the popup player button I mentioned in my previous post, I had to take it off. Wasn't working so well. Gonna have to work on that some more... Link to comment
