A tip so that you don't have to mouse click so much would be to only mouse click to open the talk box of the bartender. To "OK" the transaction use the Enter key instead of mouse clicking. Should speed things up a bit for you.

Well well well. After all these years of hacking and slashing my way through the ranks of Hard Core challenges I finally and for the first time went through the Ancaria Campaign. I must say I've never given the Single Player aspect of Sacred much credit but now that I've played SP my opinion has very much changed. It really was a lot of fun! Most of all it gave me a deeper understanding of the game world with all it's story telling which created many associations to the many characters and places of Ancaria.

 

Now the word association here is key. Ascaron certainly made an effort in there story telling to create long distance connections between the characters and places. I think The Unknown Warrior is a pretty good example of this albeit it is a side quest and not part of the campaign. Naturally, I did a number of side quests along the way and one particular side quest is what this topic is aaaall about!

 

While doing many of the side quests along the way to campaign conquest I took a liking to a particular quest and acquired a taste for Whiskey. Who'dah thought! Well since I've completed the campaign I decided it high time I make a retirement plan. Rather than simply sit back and enjoy the rewards of my efforts throughout Ancaria I decided I'd open up shop. Influenced by my new love for whiskey I arranged to order some of the finest whiskey direct from Moorbrook. Everyone knows that Moorbrook has the finest whiskey of course! So there I was, open for business and ready to find some customers to deliver to.

 

Searching high and low throughout Ancaria from desert to lave plains, forests to marsh I seeked the highest bidder to my fine supply checking every Inn and Tavern traveling at a pace of 270 speed on my trusty steed. At last after many long days and even longer nights I happened across a secluded outpost among the forests of DeMordrey. Granted there didn't seem to be much going on at this particular establishment. The Barman however was convinced of dire need for my fine product. Deliveries here are rare I imagine and assume the reason for this Barman's unquenchable desire for my Moorbrook whiskey. Though judging by the red of his nose I have to question whether he really plans to serve drinks to anyone but himself... None the less! I am not here to question but merely to make my humble earnings. (read as: A crap load of money! Shhhh! ) And so began my days as a millionaire. Soon to be billionaire I have no doubt! So here it is. The Drunk Dragon shall be my #1 and only choice point of delivery. The Barman will never stop buying my fine quality as it seems he has a limitless supply of gold so I won't be needing to go anywhere else to make my living.

 

In a mere 2 minutes time I was able to make 1 million gold in a Bronze game. No need to take my word for it though. You can watch me make my first dollar as well as my first million!

 

Life is good and a guide will come shortly! Cheers to Ascaron on this brilliant treat. I sure hope it was intentional, haha. Judging from the breadcrumbs I followed I do believe it was.

Ahh single player I really was planing on playing the single player game first and I even started it but then Claire[yes Claire I blame you for it ] came and said stop that nonsense and get into HC so I never played finished the single player game.

By the way is there a way of playing the campaign on line with people like in Away team?

lol Katran. Awh Claire to the whip to yah did she, hahaha. Well if you ever get a chance by all means try. I just tried this on Open Internet and Genenut is right. You can do the campaign with up to 4 others. That would be fun!

 

Yup FrostElf. 6000 Gold. Forever and ever! I believe it is the log book entry of the whiskey barrel that makes this possible. Bug? Or easter egg? There are clues that can lead you to that Barman paying 6000 gold. Was a lot of fun following the clues. I wrote a lot more info about the clues on the SIF version of this topic btw.

First is what lead me to the Drunk Dragon. In the first attached image below you can see the hint I interpreted. "Are you interested in a bounty hunt?" Hmmm, where have I read the words bounty hunt before... The Bounty Hunt quest of course! The quest giver mentions that the stolen whiskey was meant for "Polandor of Mascarell" What would happen if this Polandor was found? I have yet to try.

Though I can't remember what game character said this.. One of them said that "So and so would be willing to trade a silver dragon in exchange for two barrels..."

Found the quote at gamefaq.com!

"Have you heard? The whisky from MOORBROOK is famous thru-out

the world, but it has toxic effects...So don't try too much if

you get the opportunity to secure a bottle or two. Better to

sell it to a landlord, who will reward you handsomely for a 30-

year-old 'Silver Dragon'. But if you talk to the traders in

MOORBROOK, you will find out more."

 

It might be that the words "Silver Dragon" are actually a refernece to the "Drunk Dragon" Not sure about that one. Interesting all the same!

 

Whew! For what appears at first sight a simple little quest it sure is quite complex eh!

If I recall correctly, you are steered towards Drakendon (the inn at the crossroads) initially and quite obviously when you complete the quest. I'll have to do it again to refresh my memory. But I do remember selling the whiskey over and over - for just a couple hundred per barrel though.

 

And since you posted this, didn't you find they pay even more in Alkazaba noc Draco (the underground lava town)?

 

 

Edit: I was remembering the other whiskey quest. Deliver some to Drakendon. I found they tavern in Timberton also pays 6000. Both in Mascarell 5,000. Mystdale, 1,000. No tavern in Khorad - guess the orcs don't drink. Was trying Urkenburgh when I ctd'ed. Enough I guess.

I'm sorry I got to this so late. Brad how do you keep finding stuff about this game so many years after it's release? It's awesome, I believe you've turned Sacred into the goose that keeps laying golden eggs. The documentation on this is first class and the inclusion of the movie shows everyone how delightful this little "find" of yours is and, lol...to hear the kachinging over and over again...who needs a casino!

I tried to emulate the Great Schot... and found no one would buy my whisky. At all!

 

('Course I ended up starting and completing other quests... which probably poisoned the well.)

 

I'm going to take a wild guess and say: I bet you have to stop doing quests once you

 

 

a) have started the whisky quest and

b) have started the pure water quest and

c) collected the pure water (but refused to drink it)

 

Do you pick up the antidote? Or leave it lying there?

 

I obviously did too many things when I tried to replicate Schot's success.

Absolutely gial! In fact just as you say, Alkazaba noc Draco IS the best place to sell. 10,000 gold a barrel! Business couldn't be better.

 

As it happened the SIF version of this discussion progressed quite a bit further so you may find some things of use in it.

Ah interesting points Frosty. In fact I always refused to the offer to have a sip from the thief in the cave. Actually... The very first time I did accept but I think I CTDed before I could complete that try. Something I noticed and the reason why I never "accepted" there after was because of the way the log book entries appeared. If I remember correctly... When you accept a drink from the thief and get poisoned the entry in the log is something like, "Ack! The whiskey hasn't been watered down... It's been poisoned!" But if you don't accept a drink from the thief I'm pretty sure the log book entry is more like, "Hmmmm, this whiskey has most likely been poisoned". The thing is that I never got around to testing/comparing the choice outcomes so you may well have just done that Frosty, haha.

 

One other thing is that I don't think I did any quests after doing the Pure Water quest. I had it in my mind that doing a quest afterwards would probably break the ability to sell over and over. It happened to me once where the ability to resell had been broken and I think it was because of the bounty quest. Again... I never tested this mostly because I always had such easy success with it. I think I've done it about 6 times now without any trouble. Each time I did it I did so exactly as mentioned above. Not accepting a sip from the thief and and not doing a quest after it. Oh and you must complete the Pure water quest I believe. I always did.

 

P.s.

I always picked up the antidote. I had a feeling there may be a connection so in chance I always picked up the antidote.

Oh the Drakenden whiskey quest and the Pure Water quest tend not to mix well so I'd suggest avoiding the drakenden quest when trying this trick out.

OR other than getting 1 gizzalion gashmidally willion... Yen, just lemme pick a unique from yer list That would make it ALL worth while - then I wouldn't end up with 5 set's of uniques short of 1 item...

hi guys, I am new to DarkMatters and trying to catch up with the info that has been poured in here... I have huge respect for you guys and I love sacred universe. fellow players are so helpful and giving that I feel embarrassed sometimes.... I also signed for the rss feed and getting my daily dose of sacred everyday...

 

and, I have a question about this brilliant job....

 

I did everything as Schot told and got the 1000 per barrel gift... I also wanted to see the big bucks so I went to Alkazaba noc Draco, but I could not find the innkeeper or the bartender there.... can anyone post a screenshot or tell me where it is?

Ah I'm glad you brought up this point. It's something I was going to add to the guide but forgot. Oops! In order to find the bartender in Alkazaba noc Draco you need to make sure that your connection speed is set to DSL/Cable even if you don't have that kind of connection. If you are set to MODEM then he will not be there. Part of the function of of the MODEM setting is that it stops many of the NPC's from being entered in the game world. This is meant to reduce lag. Below you can click the images to see where to change your connection setting in Options and also a pic of where the Bartender can be found. Keep in mind that the Bartender there tends to walk around a bit but he should be somewhere in that room.

First of all, does this mean that I cannot earn huge bucks in SP?

Let me explain why I am so desperate for this gold: I mostly play SP, have a Lvl50 gladiator, and about to finish the story in bronze. Yes, I am pathetic. Anyway, I prepared a set of items with maximum number of sockets for trading and lost all my savings to the merchants in five days to upgrade my stuff and find +2 trade/+1 Skills rings. I wanted to do this quest in order to raise my income level again.

 

Here is what happens: I signed up for the Whiskey quest first and after that I signed up for the Pure Water quest before leaving town. Then I finished off the thieves, took the whiskey and the antidote potion without drinking any. I went back to the town, finished the Pure Water quest by clicking on the Captain and then went to the Drakenden barkeeper's place as told in the Whiskey quest. [I also tried this without clicking the captain and ended up with the same result, namely:] Drakenden barman keeps buying my barrels for 1000 gold and never quits. It is normal until here. I killed monsters on the way, but did not take on any other quests.

 

I guess I got greedy after that or I got tired from clicking the mouse button for 1000 gold and hit the taverns at Alkazaba noc Draco and Timberton. However, not only I could not find the bartender in Alkazaba, but also the bartender in Timberton turned out to be a sober guy. He is a not interested in my whiskey at all. When I click on him, he responds with a normal reply rather than asking to buy my whiskey. After I read Schot's reply, I checked my Options panel and confirmed that I use the option for DSL/Cabel; then I went to Alkazaba and although I found the bartender [it turns out, he was around when I first came in too, but I could not find him. Since this part is underground, there is no building to spot the bar sign outside.], he is not interested in my whiskey either. I also tried the bartenders in Hedgenton, Mascarell, Braverock, and even Porto Vallum with no luck.

 

In the final analysis, I can sell the whiskey to the Drakenden barman forever, but no other bartender wants to buy my whiskey.

 

Is it only because I am playing SP or does anyone has any other ideas?

I think that might why it isn't working for you tarihci. The thing is that you must only take the pure water quest. The two whiskey quests don't work very well together. It should work no problem in SP but if you are still running into trouble after trying the below instructions then please feel free to ask for more help.

Hmmmm. The fact that soldiers are attacking you suggests that some of the main quest line has been done. Sometimes the main quest line can actually prevent you from completing certain actions in the game. In my experience the game becomes more and more chaotic the further I progress into the main quest. So just for testing purposes I would suggest trying to sell the whiskey in a fresh new game.

You were right Schot. At the moment, I am in the middle of Shaddar-Nur quest, within the main quest line. After your last message, I exported my character and created a new bronze game. It worked like a charm this time. Although I won't be able to benefit from it right now, I will definitely use this ATM machine afterwards.

 

@gogoblender: Still off topic, but thank you for the information gogoblender. I am aware of the variety and I am very much thankful. My RSS reader, FeedDemon, only grabs the first message of the new posts, hence I was just wishing like "would not it be peachy if we could receive all the exchanges in the forum, including the replies and all that..." So...the problem was my feed reader.

missed this before. when you are in the main qest line, you need to kill sirithcam. At this point Alkazaba noc Draco becomes hostile
