  1. Hey all. I'm new. I just spent the last hour slowly reading the whole topic and changing stuff. I've already done some changes with the balance.txt because I found a helpful page or two on gamefaqs but REALLY needed THIS topic so thanks for everyone's input! Does anyone know anything about upping the number of skill modification points? As I understand it from the wiki, every so many skillpoints you put into Lore skills and Tactics lore gives you a skill modification point, however in-game there's a tooltip that says my next skill modification point is available only at certain levels so I'm a little confused - Is it by points invested into lore skills or is it by level? In any case, I'd like more skill modification points, partly because I like to cheat with the character editor and give myself all six skill modifications instead of just three ... so I need lots and lots of points.

  2. Hello everyone. A new member here. Firstly, I absolutely adore this mod. It's classy. Nicely made. As a bonus I havn't had that map glitch where the hud vanishes after opening the map ever since I've been using it... so far anyway and it's been about a week of lots of playing. There is one thing I would like to change with the Shadow Warrior however. Is it possible to eliminate the sound of the Deathchill aura? (deathchill aura is my go-to relic in Grim Dawn) The sound is fine for shivering miasma as it gives me an audible cue for when the spell has expired but once I make it a permanent buff and it becomes deathchill aura the sound is constant and something of an annoyance. Thanks! Actually I have another question regarding the base game. I'd like to use three buffs at around level 50 concentration instead of having to go to mastery in concentration at lev 75. Is that doable?

  3. Hehe unfortunately for germany a lot of websites went down last weekend including darkmatters and the wiki. It always said the account would've been suspended. There's no explanation yet, I believe it must have to do with issues at a central internet exchange point somewhere in germany, using the tracert command revealed that the signal got lost somewhere at a class a network router. Kinda ruined my sunday lol At first it made me realise that I should back up important data that is currently only stored at darkmatters or the wiki. On the other hand - what would be the point of modding without darkmatters? As far as editing went, there were absolutely no issues, and there were a lot of edits. It said I couldn't generate a table with more than 1000 cells at first, so I generated a small one instead and slowly expanded it. Don't know wether passing those 1000 cells is possible this way, also didn't count wether they're already passed. But the edits went smooth so far. If tables were filterable, I'd make a single huge table instead of breaking it up with my classification system. I was actually thinking about scripting my own javascript table and asking you to implement it in the wiki, but this isn't a promise. I love darkmatters, I love the wiki, and not in the same way palpatine loved democracy and the republic xD. Sending much of love

  4. And here I was asking if I was modifying my numbers too much, yours are huge compared to mine! Thanks for your numbers as they're a good way for comparing. I think I'll try editing the file and see how it goes via LAN. I really don't want to change it that much in the end, just trying to have a more interesting and faster progression. PS: Did the tweaking on balance.txt, after which I ran a level 1 High Elf to get the quest and kill values in both Bronze and Silver. Then I ran my level 115 Shadow Warrior on LAN and made the Runemaster's Son quest. Here are the changes and results. TWEAKING: MP_experience = {1000,1150,1325,1550,1825}, => MP_experience = {1500,1150,1325,1550,1825}, QuestExplow = {20,25,30,40,50}, => QuestExplow = {30,40,45,60,75}, QuestExpmax = {4020,5025,6030,8040,10050}, => QuestExpmax = {6030,7540,9045,12060,15075}, ExpLS100 = 985, => ExpLS100 = 1015, ExpLS125 = 980, => ExpLS125 = 1020, ExpLS150 = 975, => ExpLS150 = 1025, ExpLS175 = 970, => ExpLS175 = 1030, RESULTS: BRONZE QUEST XP: 20 / 30 ENEMY KILL XP: 14 / 21 SILVER QUEST XP: 25 / 40 ENEMY KILL XP: 17 / 25 SW LV.115 QUEST XP: 6381 / 9572 ENEMY KILL XP: 2638 (champion->5578) / 6394 (champion->13521) So this is it. The ratio of 1.5x the base XP gain seems well in order, and the progression with the post level 100 boni instead of penalty is definitely noticeable! I mean, a regular mob now gives more XP than a champion unit with the base XP gain. It's a 2.42x ratio of XP gain at level 115 (though in all honesty that SW has XP gain socketed so the ratio should be smaller). I think this might make the levelling more rewarding past level 100 since millions and millions are necessary to level up. What do you think? Is this a balanced way to get closer to 200 in a more productive amount of time?

  5. This may sound very strange, but I made a few tweaks to balance.text and the one that was most likely to have made the difference in effectuating the outcome as described below is: TraderOfferUpperRareBase = 24, Occasionally, yet very seldom, after completing numerous quests in the vicinity of a specific merchant, they will offer me some unique items. I have acquired Sand Eagle that way (once) and some other legendary items. This usually occurs after I have first sold to them some nice items and then I discover something else soon thereafter that I wish to unload and I notice some other new items have been added to their inventory. Upon close inspection there are some tasty new additions to choose from. There may be a few weapons or some nice armor pieces and unique jewelry and upon occasion even a pleasant array of a variety of item types from which to select. The prices are sky high, but if you have amassed a billion gold or so, what the heck? On what other thing besides forging armor, jewelry, and weapons am I to spend it? If I could donate some to the poor and needy to aid in the renovation of buildings, roads, and other infrastructure I would. I suppose that being a philanthropist and hero might be fun.

  6. well, I just found out by error that the line "zrareexpectation00" is the overall drop rate. its what determines whether a kill results in ANY loot dropping at all. its set to 1000 so that you drop loot on every kill. then 01-15 determines what quality whether it be potions greys whites etc. I tried to turn down the greys and ended up turning down everything. lmao the rest of you probably know it already. but I thought this was funny. I'm walking along smashing everything and I'm like "uh, wheres my stuff?" hahahaha

  7. Well, if you look at ZRareExpectation00 = 1000 That's the lowest tier, crappiest grey stuff, 1000 = 100% chance to drop I believe. So looking back at the high-tier uniques and stuff, ZRareExpectation15 = 2, (0.2% chance to drop) ZRareExpectation14 = 6, (0.6% chance to drop) ZRareExpectation13 = 14, (1.4% chance to drop) ZRareExpectation12 = 16, (1.6% chance to drop) I crank all of those up to 80 (8.0% chance to drop). I've experimented with the numbers, and if you go much higher than 100 (10.0% chance), it starts to feel cheap like the game's just handing it to you. And Legendaries are still ultra-rare, I almost never find them even with those numbers.
