  1. Actually if you're playing with CM Patch 1.60 and use a low-regen CA like Ruthless Mutilation your character will now use it in ranged mode as the staff fires three guided projectiles in a cone-shaped trajectory. You should keep the second weapon with %LL because when the projectiles it they'll trigger it. I've made such a build with a Shadow Warrior playing with triple buff and having Nether Allegiance turned on, and it's a beast of a build! I then started playing an Inquisitor and tried doing the same but it was a bit of deja vú so I approached my build differently, mainly pulling mobs with a low level Clustering Maelstrom and wiping them out with a Ruthless Mutilation/Callous Execution combo. But if you want to play the Inquisitor dual-wielding a staff+%LL weapon it works pretty good! The Zealous Doppelganger CA should probably be modded for Companion though? Not sure about that but it's probably more interesting to have a bodyguard instead of Reverse Polarity. I mean, the Shadow Warrior can have three!
  2. Hi Sacroo Two things that you're missing on your argument: Runes from different difficulty levels (power) don't stack with one another. A Bronze rune will only stack with another (exactly) equal Bronze rune, a Silver rune with a Silver rune, etc etc. So you never loose anything because what actually stacks are items of the same category and level and power. No harm for the player and no need for micromanagement. This was a decision made by the community for a community made patch. It's not a Mod, it's a patch, but it's still made by a community which has a vision which will be most likely different from the original vision on certain instances. So when such an instance arises the community has a voice in it, as to decide if it strays too far from the original vision or if its implementation goes in line without spoiling it. Which is what happened on this topic. I hope you understand that you're not missing out on anything due to this being a part of the CM Patch, and that none of this was made "just because". It was thought of, presented to the public and voted for. Democratically I might say.
  3. Have fun: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/17897-guide-on-how-to-re-skin-a-set/
  4. Can't vouch for a seven year old topic, but I can tell you that the CM Patch 1.60 has coding that does increase the pickup range. All you need to do is edit the options.txt to have the visuals reflect the increased range. Give it a try.
  5. Who knows really... A corrupted game file is the most likely scenario since a clean reinstall made it work again. Don't worry too much about it.
  6. That's bizarre! My best guess is that you've got corrupted game files. I'd recommend reinstalling the game and mods, then trying the save games again. If that doesn't work try creating a new character and see if it still happens. In case you have the Steam version try verifying the integrity of the local files prior to reinstalling and see if it makes a difference or not. And just in case do a backup of your save games prior to everything else.
  7. Hi. When you say "gone" what do you mean specifically? Are the NPCs not there or they just can't be interacted?
  8. Regarding your first question, you can't change midway through it, only adapt and see some of the aspects on your build develop and become more important. A DM Mentalist will be so much better at higher levels than it is at lower ones, for instance, and with a HE you can start with the Delphic aspect at lower levels and play pure Ice Elf by the endgame. Chattius' Magic Coup guide is like that. So it's an adaptation based on the build you previously thought of. Respeccing isn't available in Sacred 2, so what you can do is use these save games in order to try different configurations at level 75 (mastery level). It's a good way to see for yourself what you can have by that level and test which skills and CA modifications work better for you playing style. Take a swing at it and then plan the toon from level 1 based on your findings, it should be fun.
  9. The idea to create a build goes around finding a way to kill opponents easily. It may seem a bit simplistic to say it like this but that's basically it. The longer version is that you'll want to take a look at the CAs that each branch of each class has and depending on your personal preference and playing style choose a basic set of them to focus on and kill opponents. That's why there are builds based upon specific CAs, with the HE's Fire/Ice/Delphic builds being a good example. The best thing in my view is to take a look at the Wiki for a few minutes, browse the CAs on the class you want to play with and decide which suit your playstyle. After that you plan your skill set to help you maximize the effect of those CAs, as well as be tough enough in the long run. Some skills will only shine at higher levels so you need to think of the "character level to difficulty level" ratio in order to be able to survive the more you advance. The rest is trial and error, trying out different ways to play the same build and change a few skills, CA mods, or gear you're using in order to get the better out of it. For reference I've played the Magic Coup HE build in, I think, four or five different ways.
  10. As my first official power-hungry, ahm, moderating task I'm immediately locking this thread to present an overdose of poutine. No slobbering around, ha! But for real, thanks for the promotion and warm welcome. Thank you master slaver for the heartwarming introduction. The software upgrade seems to be in line with another gaming forum where I was given moderator status, so it shouldn't prove too hard to get a grasp of it. There are barely any bots or bad posters here so it should be easy cruisin.
  11. GDPR came into play and the platform didn't comply with the new ruling because it'd cost them loads of cash. That's the story I heard, and I too was caught of guard when someone told me on Steam that it had happened. For reference:
  12. Try right-clicking on sacred2.exe, select properties, and check if the file is write-protected. Try disabling that option and reinstalling the patch. I can't think of anything else than that to be honest.
  13. I never had any save game corrupted and I've played the Blood Forest with several characters so I'd assume it has been fixed somewhere along the highway. Flix, any input?
  14. Can't remember, but they're probably books similar to the ones you get from investigating the signs of the Guardians in Bluestonebury (or whatever the spelling is). It's a quest you get in Seraphim Island when you first arrive at Mr. Giles, there's an NPC that when you turn back suddenly gets a question mark and gives you that side quest on the Human region. It's just lore books, fun stuff to read I guess.
  15. That ghost town refers to the Evocator boss quest. It's a long quest that you start at Artamark's Gate and that leads you through that whole area, check the path of the quest in red on the boss map: http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Map_of_Ancaria
  16. The main problem with the (main) chain quest in the Cursed Forest is that it doesn't auto-update as it should, like, you travel from area to area finishing the prior part of the chain but then you still need to go after the next one and start it manually. So what happens most of the time is that you miss one NPC related to it and when you're on the next area you're already missing something. Like Kormynth's Labyrinth for instance, or Weakening the Abishai. Both of those are very easy to miss.
  17. Yeah as long as you remain stationary or moving due to attacks you just need to hold left-click (or right) and target new enemies, but if you move by means of WASD you usually need to release the button and press it again. So in fact you don't really need to click that much. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you're spamming CAs without releasing right-click due to altered regen times, but you'll get the hang of it with a bit of practice.
  18. That's Purple Lizard's own words at the end of the guide's OP. Though be forewarned that the disease exploit has indeed been removed, so that's that. Hope it was helpful.
  19. Yeah, basically anything that's an EXE with a scripting engine gets flagged. But then again there are so many viruses out there that it's probably best to play the annoying Big Brother anyway.
  20. That's an AV false positive, you should probably disable Norton when you run the Editor or make it an exception on the AV. I have run it several times and never had any worms anywhere. I downloaded it from Flix's signature link (I think).
