  1. Deathblow Opponent level for deathblow 40.6% (for a level 127 unique sword) a) This means that a level 51 monster will be killed when hit? b) This means that a monster of your characters level (127) has a 40.6% percent chance of dying from each blow? c) This means that once the monster reaches a threshold of x% of hit points you can kill it with one blow? d) Frost, you're out to lunch again... and you've forgotten your food! NO SOUP FOR YOU!! e) a real answer that Frost couldn't come up with on his own. Discuss.
  2. Colour me confused again. Skeletal Fortification (the tower thing that shoots on its own) Spectral Hand (the "magic" CA that uses your in hand weapon for ranged damage) I use both with my Gollum (from LotR) SW. He hunts from the shadows, he does, precious. I haven't done much with Spectral Hand, I prefer SF and NA to do most of my damage.
  3. Hmmm. I have a sneaking suspicion that these codes will be patched out. Next patch.
  4. Sounds like Ascaron has programmed to prevent cave use... since excessive cave use leads to lag and hammered servers. (a la Sacred 1) But, if you get out before the server has recorded you've killed all the monsters and it should block re-spawn, you get a re-spawn. Hmmm. Something new to try.
  5. I bought the game a few years ago --after seeing a co-worker playing it at lunch on his pc. Great game. Love it.
  6. All I can say is this: go find a magazine with lots of pictures! Good luck!
  7. My Easter Sunday was spent at my brother's place. I brought over a Mcmeal: First time ever Big Mac, Fries and Coke. We split the burger and I ate the fries. He drank the Coke (I'm off Coke and Diet Coke again. No caffeinated soda pop for me, thanks!). I hid some kinder's eggs and a couple of creme filled chocolate eggs around the kitchen, dining room and living room. This was for my nephew to find. When he woke up, he got his gift (a game) and started playing it on his PS3. (Parents gave him a used PS3 for $350) I got hungry and took my brother to A&W (my favourite fast food: love dem Mozza Burgers.) I idly noted that the malls were closed. I went home, and gorged on the marshmallow chocolate-orange "cookies" I'd got at Zellers on Friday. Yummy! So: no big meal, no sit down dinner... Just junk food and a sandwich (+salad) in front of the TV. We watched Bones Season 3, eps 4 and 5. But hey: I seeded my first Easter Egg hunt. That was fun.
  8. Hm. I seem to recall the shaman did a spell and had some graphic goodness when he, as you say, opened the tap. For me, it wasn't just turning a tap. He cast a spell of some kind. Perhaps your graphics setting was low? I'm using Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT (GTX?). As to the storyline: It does feel like you're being pulled from here to there. Do this, do that. But, heck, they decided to make so many different areas to the game. And they had severe pressure from the clients to have DIFFERENT bosses all along the way. I think so many different bosses is the reason that the game took so long to develop. Cheers
  9. She's a victim of the Willie Neslson affect. Time was, people like Willie Nelson could sell a heck of a lot of records... they judged his music on the music. Not the appearance of the man. With the birth of MTV, enter singers like Garth Brooks. Susan Boyle might have a lovely voice, but she isn't Britney Spears. Or even that hotel woman Paris. I bought Paul Pott's CD to give him a leg up (after he won BGT in a previous year). It was a nice high he gave me with his beautiful voice. I hoped to help start his Opera career, eventhough I don't like Opera. I wish Susan the best in her future endeavours, but I don't think I'm going to buy her CD.
  10. You're using a SW? Localized red splashes are critical hits. More crits=more splashes.
  11. Dave Arneson wrote Chainmail, the set of rules that preceeded Basic Dungeons and Dragon, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons etc... He created the Blackmoor campaign, and the idea of campaigning at all. D&D lead to the genre that lead to Sacred and Sacred2. He died recently of cancer. The family has arranged for a public viewing 20-Apr-2009 in St. Paul Minnesota, USA. His passing has been acknowledged at the Giants in the Playground (site for Order of the Stick) Here is a message from the family: Here is a message directly from Dave’s family: “Shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, April 7th, Dave Arneson passed away. He was comfortable and with family at the time and his passing was peaceful. The Arneson family would like to thank everyone for their support over the last few days, and for the support the entire community has shown Dave over the years. We are in the process of making final arrangements and will provide additional details as we work them out. We will continue to receive cards and letters in Dave’s honor. We are planning to hold a public visitation so that anyone wishing to say their goodbye in person has the opportunity to do so. ========= For a complete listing of his accomplishments (with a picture or two) check out the wiki article.
  12. Reflective Emanation sounds like the best of block/evade/reflect/absorb (armour). Can RE be reflected back at you? Nervous about what could happen in Niob/Plat.
  13. When I looked at the boost from the Dryad's AM... I thought big deal. When I looked at the reduction from the Dryad's Black Curse (BC), I thought again, big deal. However, it the boost are that big... then they actually will affect damage dealt. So. The changes are that big probably because you're only get 0.1 damage/point of intelligence. So: gogo with his high level dryad is altering damage by 970? (or is it just 97?) And... again: level of CA might not produce a linear result... Niob level AM might be just 970 damage... but it that is one each spike of Epi lances... woo hoo! So. Black Curse might be quite effective against a Glacial Thorn casting opponent!
  14. Sorry to hear of your breakup. Re: computer fix-ups. I've found the incompatibilities of the new devices more or less force you to buy a new comp. I gave my brother my old S1 comp and found that it wasn't good enough to play the games he wanted... so I bought him a graphics card and more RAM... only to find the graphics card was incompatible with the motherboard (though it fit inside physically). So. A new comp for him. Maybe get a non-romantically-linked roommate? That would help with cashflow!
  15. HB Dobs! ...late to the party... have to make it up with:
  16. People have to make decisions on how to spend their money. For instance, I have a friend who CANNOT take a taxi. He can't. He thinks the markup on the trip is just too expensive. He can easily (financially) afford the trip, but the emotional decision to avoid spending the extra money won't allow him to do it. He just can't. If your enjoyment of the game would be multiplied by a factor of 10, isn't it worth the spending of X? I know budgets can be tight, but could something be trimmed somewhere else to make room for this? I say all this because when I was younger I couldn't imagine buying another copy of a game I already had. Or, if I planned to go to a movie I couldn't imagine not getting there soon enough to get a choice seat (let alone risk missing getting in by being too late). Now, if we're late, well, we could always do something else. The movie will be there later. Or even on DvD. It cost me more to go to "Team America: World Police" than it did to buy a copy of the DvD when it first came out (cheaper to buy now). It cost me more 'cause I had to buy 3 tickets to the movie. Mine, my brother's and my guest's. Perspective. Before considering buying the game again: make sure the online connection doesn't get dropped regularly like mine.
  17. If there were no risk to our characters the game would be no fun. Pioneers are the people who died with arrows in their fronts... Risk takers need risk to fully enjoy life... hence hardcore playing in Sacred. No risk=no fun. We have to be careful out there!
  18. What happened to "Question Authority!" ?
  19. It's awesome to see your video. Very sorry to hear about your character loss. We need to figure out which bosses/champions have reflect. This death reminds me of the death of Niob hardcore characters in S1. Specifically the Cerebropods that spawned in Valley of Tears equipped with Fadalmar's Embossed Axe (full Fads--complete with rings). If the game can randomly equip monsters with equipment (and skills like Axe Lore in Niob), imagine what some of the opponents could be using in Sacred 2!!
  20. Sad day for Dark Matters when you go Timo. I'm having issues too (random disconnects). Moving from VISTA to XP hasn't helped. Patch hasn't helped--but to be truthful I haven't put a lot of effort into digging into what is the root cause. I suspect my network card is jamming or something. Need to get off my btm and figure it out. Bye Timo!
  21. I thought my mouse was malfunctioning... as in time to get a new mouse. But I think now that there are cooldowns built into the mouse controls now... probably to prevent overflow on the servers to make the servers more stable. However, the cooldowns are too long. All guessing here.
  22. Your kill speed increases faster than the decrease for sharing a kill... so if you party and play together you will very very quickly go up in xp. They had to build a reduction in to prevent super power leveling.
  23. Happy Birthday to the pantless one! All hail the pantless one!
  24. Welcome to DM from me too. I hope you find the place as friendly as I do. Frost/Dave
