I remember my mom putting them yeeeeeeeeeeeeers ago into our christmas stockings gogo 100g are 5-15€ . It is from a saltwater fish so it tastes slightly more salty affordable -> Schwarze Nüsse It translates as black nuts. But it is not the american blacknut which is a subtype from walnuts. Schwarze Nüsse are European walnuts harvested while the scale is still green and soft around Saint John's eve (23th to 24th June). So another name is Johanninüsse(Saint John's nuts). At this time it is possible to pierce them with a needle. Then they are watered for one to two weeks to remove bitter acids a bit. We do it in a nearby rivelet, no need to change water daily then. Then boiled and put in a mix with spice and sugar water. There is a marinading process for around a week. Put them including the marinade in glasses. They have to ripe for at least half a year till they turn black and have a sugar layer. They are so soft that you can cut them in thin slices. The taste and use is close to truffles. 1 1 Link to comment

Sorry, I do not have a word that relates to Devilled. Not to worry, I'll have a go at the next word that the next person suggests. No wait, I think I might have one. PS. Opps! I thought I had a word, but it is not related, I totally misunderstood the meaning of the word devilled. I just looked it up on Wekipedia. Sorry I did not see the other responses, they were not there a few moments ago. I'm off to get a much needed nap. Please feel free to delete this reply, since I can't find a way to delete it.
