  5. 3C and very stormy. Tried a warm soup from Grünkern. Put it into grist mill. Roasted some onions with bacon pieces. added water, vegs, milled Grünkern, an egg and some cream. Grünkern is dried with beech wood burning so it has a slight smoky taste, together with the roast aroma it tastes fine.
  6. True that. I guess that with projectiles being locked behind Staff Lore mastery these kind of situations were so damn specific that you just couldn't get to the core of its implications, whereas when the behaviour change in staves was made to have them shoot projectiles without the Lore skill mastery, that became all too evident. I understand why it was done, and I know that at the time both Flix and Dimitry had to compromise to it in order to solve the "shoot everything on and off screen" exploit. And trust me when I say that they tried their best to have it be as balanced as they could, namely testing different attack ranges, type of projectiles, animations, etc. I know that because I was testing CM 1.60 implementations as they were making them, and that patch was anything but consensual. I don't think that anyone feels like Viperish Disease and Eternal Fire weren't heavily nerfed, to the point of kind of loosing their own appeal, but there were things that just couldn't be made to work in any other way. Staves were just another victim of the source code's limitations, and with having to choose between a game breaking exploit and a class specific exploit, I can understand the choice that was made. Lesser of two evils if you will. I'm very partial to enjoying "mega-projectile" staves though, but I guess that it's due to testing it so much that I started enjoying that machine gun-like behaviour. It's just fun stuff, which wouldn't be as fun if the game had an active build meta, because that'd become the standard for fast grinding. But considering how the game has just a few hardcore longtime players, who have hundreds or thousands of hours spent in the game, I guess that choosing to be OP in some particular cases isn't that big of a deal. Like you say, it goes down to each of us to choose what and how we do with it. Much like using Char Editor for respecing, or to create blank templates to avoid climbing up to mastery level (guilty!), or using non-vanilla XP gains, etc. It's all cool because there's no meta, just hardcore players having fun.

  17. Ahhh, the queen of blades! everyone eventually runs into Antitrusts's mechanics...he was adored with Sacred's game theory and used the mechanic of being able to find these blades at will to create an almost unsquashable swords mistress. Did your progress along satisfactorily? gogo

  22. I remember falling in love with this game as a kid, the prettiest game I had ever seen with so much detail in the world, its clear a whole lot of love went into making it. all the quotes inscribed on the statues, the silly conversations the villagers have with each other, the relaxing atmosphere, they all come together to make the game very immersive. I love ancaria so much! compared to similar games with a randomly generated world like diablo 2, that could never be as charming as this one I wish all areas had as much love as the first ones tho. few of the statues in the jungle or the dryad islands have inscriptions. I was for example disapointed theres nothing inside the big temple in the jungle (not the one in the middle) and the amazing dryad city in the trees is underused, possibly because its somewhat hard to navigate the first few times. the wasteland doesnt have any sidequests and is a pretty bland trek towards the great machine. whenever I play sacred 2 it I wish it had even more, more combat arts that synergized a bit better so you dont just spam the 1 or 2, more challenging bossfights, more hidden secrets, more fun questchains... theres a few very fun ones but the game could have used memorable quests maybe a small puzzle here and there would be cool or some more quests with varying possible endings. all the content that is there is pretty top quality and the theres so many memorable things about this game. the wide variety of builds also ads to the fun, so many different stats and modifiers to experiment with. while the combat can be a bit janky sometimes its very enjoyable once you get the hang of it and the mechanics behind the combat are very solid and addicting. this game is a gem, one of the best rpg experiences ive ever had and the one I keep coming back to the most.

  24. The counter stuff is for Sacred 1. It required killing a certain number of enemies in a region to spawn a "region boss" (usually just several bosses spawned in a group). When you open the minimap in Sacred 1, it's the numbers next to the region name X/Y. X is the current number of kills, Y is the required number of kills to trigger the boss spawn. You are basically not going to encounter this in single player unless you spend hours and hours grinding the constantly slowly respawning enemies. Here is a video I found of someone showing the region boss thing: https://youtu.be/FjVzorkY-y4?si=AysGDIvpDQsNMM1Q&t=855 There was also "region pacified/at peace" mechanic or something like that in Sacred 1 when you completed most of the quests in a region. Not sure if that had any effect on anything, but I think not. Just an indication that you did all/most of the things in a region. For Sacred 2, you can view # of completed quests in the character stats (not sure those are viewable on console, requires a mouse hover over character name in inventory) but it has no effect on overall drop rates, other than that it occasionally gives you a set item after you complete a couple quests in a single session. The chance goes up every finished quest and resets when it gives you the bonus set item. What does give an actual bonus to finding valuables is % of map explored. 4% of map explored = 1% of Chance to Find Valuables. I usually try to reach ~150% on my end game characters for a free 37.5% CtFV.
